So, the new mini destroyer pet is a virtual GW item that can only be had by someone paying an outside party real world cash. ANET has shown us just where they stand.
Don't get me wrong. I couldn't care less what it may or may not do to the economy, or what people may or may not sell them for. I just want people to see what inconsiderate hypocrits those "rulemakers" at ANET are.
Technically, they could ban your account for owning one!! Technically, they could ban your account for giving the magazine away or selling the magazine. In fact, they could ban your account for buying the magazine. You agreed that they could do this.
The insanity never ends.
The Mini Destroyer. The ULTIMATE in hypocrisy!
Citadel Runner
Neo Nugget
well this is the 3rd time they've done it with a magazine:P
I bet its gonna be worth no more than 5k by next month

I don't think you have been playing long enough to understand Anet's policy, considering you weren't playing 2 months ago when the asura pet was released.

Yet another BS post, seriously, people don't get it.
The magazine costs 8$ (or whatever the price) regardless of what is in it, the Miniature Destroyer comes *Free* with the magazine, they aren't selling the mini destroyer for said price, the magazine costs said price.
This is strikingly similar to the other thread ''Anet has no idea what players want''
People just don't understand...

Your stupid.
Your buying the magazine not a minipet.
Its a free gift...

VitisVinifera
utterly ridiculous
I finally managed to find one of these after my 6th place, and it's got some super cool artwork, some *very* interesting lore about what happens between GW1&2, and the mini pet which went on my perma pre.
It is what it is, and if you disagree, don't buy.....or whatever. But the tripe about Anet could technically ban you for buying one is complete idiocy. As for its effects on the economy; the only effect it will have is there will be a market-based price on them, nothing more nothing less.

It's a FREEBIE. You're not buying the mini-pet, you're buying the Magazine. The mini-pet is just a BONUS for buying the Magazine. It's like Cracker-Jacks: You're buying the carmel-covered popcorn & peanuts, not the secret toy surprise.
Or, to take it from another angle (for those who can't quite grasp the concept outlined above) - You're not buying a mini-pet. You're buying an ACCESS KEY. This ACCESS KEY allows you to unlock a virtual item. Just like you went out and BOUGHT GW (any of the products), you unlocked an entire virtual world. That virtual world is the RW property of A-Net. They're just allowing you to ACCESS it via the ACCESS KEY you used when installing (or upgrading) the game!

You could make a case on promotional items, even potentially one on those which have no bearing on the game, such as minipets. Not one I'm likely to agree with, but a case nevertheless.
I don't suggest, however, rushing in to conclusions, accusations, or name-calling, as it destroys any points you may have. The mood/tone you set for the opening post has a strong effect on the following posts, and I think this is shown clearly in this thread.
This does not excuse anyone from the rules of the forum regarding flaming.
I'm closing this thread because the only direction it's going to head is downhill, even with all but the opening post removed, because frankly, the opening post was not good.
