i am lvl 9, second spear with 206 points. now i have checked everywhere and those are the only two quests i can choose. am i supposed to go out and kill 94 monsters to get to first spear to finish an honorable general? or whats up? any help appreciated.

i am still on the beginning island, but have got past it before (have a lvl 20 derv) and anyways, i just got to jokanur diggings a coup days ago, and the only two quest i have are a honorable general, and rising in the ranks first spear.

You don't seem to have either of those requirements, so I guess grind time.

Check around the towns again. Nightfall has plenty of quests where you need to have done so and so quest before a new quest gets offered. So you may just need to have the pre-reqs for the quest.
