is it possible to set up a guildwars private server? id like to screw around with the game mechanics and give myself lots of gold/insane skills (i do it with every game, but i cant with GW) also, if this is illegal, then tell me, cause im not into that, i own all the GW campaigns legit except GWEN (not that its really possible to not own it legit)

I'm pretty sure it's possible and all, but it would take a dedicated server most likely. Also, you've gotta find a way to mod the server, as well as put it up. I don't suggest you do it, because I believe it MIGHT get you banned. My 2 cents =P.

A private server is not forbidden unless you make it online 
Well i dont know this about guildwars
But with World of Warcraft its not forbidden to make a lan private server, for like a lan party
But still why make a private server? You can play the orginal, and earn the insane skills

Since private servers HAVE been prosecuted by NCsoft, I'd say the legality of them is not a real question...

u could always email anet about it. I believe there was a thread about this a while ago about someone doing a college project and was making like some super bot that could do everything. Anet gave him his own server or something so he could play aorund with it

Ok, just so you know:
If ANET doesnt give you a/their server pack you're in for a LOT of coding.
I run a WoW Server (VitalWoW) with a mate and despite running it off a preprepared DataBase there are still a lot of bugs we manually patch.
I remember running a server off WoWEmu and it took a lot of effort to code everything.
But if ANET give you some server pack that would be sweet.
