Sigh...
When someone offers to "run a mission" which of these do you expect to happen?
1) You sit on your butt, they do the thing, you pay them afterwards; or
2) You're expected to go along with them, do the mission just like normal, and then still pay, effectively hiring a mercenary henchman to do the heavy lifting but still expecting you to do some work; or
3) You don't expect either one normally, each runner is different.
Now, since pretty much the game started, I've operated under 1. Was on a team today (whole team, runner included) who seemed to think it was 2.
Terms change, and maybe some missions are exceptions; that's cool. Just trying to get an idea of what the standard still is.
Your definition of mission-running?

Someone "running" a mission is them doing it for you period.
Anything else is helping or lfg.

For the most part - 1.
There are exceptions but they need stated up front. I've had a run in Thirsty river where the warrior needed help killing one boss (he killed everything else, including the priest). I've had some Droks runners that need someone to grab aggro at one point and die (though most that needed that did dual runners). I would still consider these runs but would have been irritated if I didn't know it up-front.
At the very least expecting you to play like you would in a normal group is unacceptable - why in the world would one call that a "run"? But then, I have not had any character run since the very beginning of Factions so maybe people expectations have lowered. Not to mention the last two times I did get a run I used one of the "running services" instead of getting one of the people spamming about it so it has been since before the release of Factions that I purchased a run on the open market.

Agree with above poster. There are exceptions like Thirsty River where you have to kill things in the beginning so the MM can raise his minion army, then sit back and do nothing.
If you are expected to fight as normal then it is not a run and no cash should be exchanged.

Running would be 1, except when the 'runner' asks beforehand for help (the entire mission or just a part).
If he/she wants help the entire mission, that's a good reason to start negociating on the price

Definitely 1. If a runner needs a little extra firepower to get past one part I would expect them to take a hero for it. If you have to do anything other than stand around and look pretty then it defeats the purpose of paying someone else to do the work for you.

Depends on the mission.
Some missions have always been perceived so hard, that many failed on each try.
If someone offers you 100% mission completion guarantee, then you can choose to pay for it.
Advertising this as running is done purely for simplicity. What you're paying these people for is getting the mission done - not being afk for the next 30 minutes. If you can, fine, but ultimately, they are guaranteeing you completion.
Your other thread got locked for a reason.
I used to run that mission back when it was hard. The price was 30-60k, with masters completion, and you could be afk. Nobody ever was, but I didn't require anything, except that people don't pull a Leeroy.
10k for that mission? These days it's not worth it, since it's too easy. But what you hired was a tour guide. Someone to guarantee you finish the mission, and nothing more.
Know what you're buying.

tip: before paying for any run, make sure you know the terms of the run before you enter into it. If you are going to afk the entire mission they can ask for the money up front so they don't have to wait around for you to come back and pay after the mission is done. If they want your help during the mission they should state it before the run and at which part if necessary
