OK,
I did this 'Bear Club for Men' over the preview weekend with my warrior, and the bear was frankly a pain.
Equip club, beat on it for about 20mins, bear dies (after using the single skill 'brutal mauling'.
So, release comes around, I want the Norn armor for my (male) ele, so off I plod to do all the Norn quests...
Bear Club for Men has suddenly become the hardest thing ever...
Basically I can't beat the bear with my ele.
I've tried nuking it with mark of rodgort and keeping it burning most of the time (SF/Glowing Gaze etc.).
I've tried dual-attunement air-spike (with 'Shell Shock' added in for good measure). This one basically results in a stalemate, I can't kill him, he can't see me.
Shatterstone/Vapor blade wasn't too successful either.
Earth builds, I don't know any so there is a definite possibility for this.
Tried taking a mes secondary and interrupting his 'troll ungent' - sadly it appears to have half recharge and half casting, so 'Cry of Frustration' it once, and it's ready to go before 'cry' has recharged.
Rit secondary with 'Wanderlust' - the spirit dies too fast, and the bear seems to have gotten smart about using 'Dolyak Signet'.
Anyone got any tips? (other than 'be less bad' or 'l2p').

BdP Well I did "Bear Club for Women" on my Rit and basically ran a spam build that rocked the bear so fast I lost because I didn't have time to switch to the club.
Here's the build
Pain, Bloodsong, Wanderlust, Anguish, Painful Bond, Summon Spirits, Essence Strike, Vital Weapon
12 Communing, 12 channeling, Remainder in Spawning
*Poof* dead bear.
If you don't have Summon Spirits then you can use the vastly inferior Draw Spirit to move your spirits around.

Although I feel dirty for having to use a bar full of my secondary profession skills..
Oh well, thanks muchly I now have a few more Norn points towards the armor!

Another simple solution is to use some of the PvE skills like Ursan Blessing or Sneak Attack.
Elena

I don't see any problems killing the bear with casters...

The bear is easily killed (especially by casters), (I hope) the trick is easily explained by the screenshots below:
Less than 1 minute and you can have a roasted bear paws for dinner , simply burn/degen/nuke/spike/whatever it to death, that's all.
