ability to kick AFKs during mission

Had a situation just yesterday where 1 person was afk during the entire Nahpui mission; apparently went afk after joining the group and before we even entered the mission, though we didn't notice until we were in it (and still appeared to be afk when we landed at Senji's). I suppose we could have simply restarted but we were a little way in before we figured out what was going on - we thought at first maybe this person had gone in a different portal.

We managed to complete it anyway (and got masters) with just us 7, but it burns my biscuits that people like this still get the credit for mission completion.

How about a /kick <name> command similar to the new /report command for PvP - if the majority of the party types in /kick <name>, the afk'er is booted from the party.

Or perhaps extend the /report feature to PvE missions, though this would require Anet to spend man-hours doing work which we ourselves could accomplish via a /kick command.

This sort of thing has come up multiple times...

The problem is that it's easily abusable. There have been enough reports of people (usually monks) using people to help them get good drops and then letting them die and refusing to raise them until all their drops have been released. This would mean that such scammers would only need to make sure there's 5 of them to remove the risk of their victim not dying before they can get their drops.

Even if kicked players got to keep their assigned drops, it could be used to get 5-man teams into UW or FoW with three others that subsidise the entry fee and then get kicked. Leechers are annoying, but in PvP you gain no real benefit to labelling someone as a leecher, while in PvE you can get benefits to kicking people if you're enough of a greifer to do so.

One thing that might work is to have a system by which if someone is marked as a leecher, they get a warning, and if they haven't moved their character within a certain period of time after the server receives a confirmation of the warning being received they get dropped - wouldn't stop some, but it'll at least stop the people who jump on a party and then just sit at the entrance expecting the others to complete the mission for them. The italicised point is important as it stops legitimate players from being kicked due to losing connection with the server and the server being slow to actually admit that it's lost connection (believe me, the number of times I've wished there was a way to force a reconnect because it takes too long to admit it's disconnected... only once have I thought that and not had the program make the admission eventually).

I blame you Anet.....It's well known fact that /commands will be abused. just like the /bug to report a bug. What happened to use the support system that is already in place...if people are to lazy to use then it's on them.

I like the idea, though you guys are right, it would be subject to abuse.

Some rules would have to be put in order:

1) Cannot kick a player who hasn't been afk for more than 5 minutes.

2) Only the leader of the party has the benefit of this command.

3) All drops given to that player are removed from the map.

This way, kicks would be legitimately to keep leechers from finishing the level and for no other purpose. Even if you could invent some sort of scam or malignant purpose for the kick command, the player would have to first be afk from keyboard for 5 minutes before it takes effect.

Yes, but the point is they would have to be active in some way and may as well play the game. As for booting an AFK player... I think that is a good idea. But it would have to be unanimous. I wouldn't want one guy in charge of the whole kicking arrangment.

And if you don't mind I'd like to propose an add-on to your update.

AFK'ers and disconnects or leaves be replaced with an AI player using the same skillsets and armor, just run by an AI, that-a-way you aren't down 3 players at the end of a forge run. And it isn't such a HUGE deal when your healer leave in the middle of THK.
Just a thought

How about a vote system, wich will require the votes of all the other players in the group, still abuseable(lol). But much harder to abuse.

Or a autokick, like somebody already suggested, but not for movment, maybe for not using skills or killing stuff for so many minutes. Something in that direction.

Almost all missions on normal mode are so easy, it's simply not worth PUGging. It's only PUGs that make them hard. You had 7 people and had no problem with the mission. Why complain?

For HM, you'll need people who actually play. PUGgers don't get into HM. They can't handle it, and by the time you start doing that, you'll have a few friends in game anyway, so you can do it with heroes filling the missing spots.

Nobody cares about this - this is why nobody PUGs anymore. The content is just tooooooo easy.

It simply doesn't matter anymore.

"I wouldn't want one guy in charge of the whole kicking arrangment."

That's why I suggested a majority vote, but a unanimous vote works for me and is probably better actually.

I also like the idea of the autokick, with the timer set to, say, 10 mins (5 mins on those very short masters missions in NF) without attacking, as the person could be a leacher (and not actually AFK) and could simply move his char slightly or use a non-attack skill to avoid the kick if those were the criteria.

^^ I don't think it's right that someone who doesn't contribute to the team effort to complete a mission should receive the reward for the mission completion. Anet has responded to PvPers' complaints about leachers, why not extend PvEers the same consideration?

Well you cant make this option it has a few things where you didnt pay attention to.

Lets say we are doing a mission, and then before the end of the mission i do /kick, then i get the mission and the other guy dont ...

So its not wise, because you would alot of banned people ...

Because, unlike PvP with random grouping, in PvE you choose who you take into your group.

Or don't you check before leaving and just gobble up random people who choose to join? I'd assume you need to coordinate the builds and stuff like that. Problematic people are obvious from the start.

Currently, if one member gets AFK anytime before the end of the mission, either I wait, or I leave. I don't want leechers getting job done like that.

People have to play by themselves not have things done by others.

I don't care about kicking people o not. The one thing that I'm sure is that no one will get missions made with no effort with me in the party.

Maybe being AFK (inactivity for more than 5 minutes) would be enough to remove mission completion when the rest of the party finishes it.

well with /report leechers can be reported.

BUT there have been some occasions where we were vanquishing a large area and someone went afk and the party wiped except for the afk so all we could do is stare at the screen and wait or loose 3+ hours of work. I think that after a period of 10 min of inactivity AND the team is dead that the team should rez automatically as long as the afk player has a rez.

The ability to kick a player at will is very uncool. It will be abused.

On this particular occassion, I wasn't the leader. That's kind of beside the point anyway - what's to stop someone joining a group, standing around chatting/pinging their bar, then going AFK once the mission starts?

I, too, would be concerned about /kick being abused so maybe the better way is some sort of auto feature, if not to the point of actually kicking them, at least to denying them the completion credit.
