Worst Guild Experience Ever?
Karomi Saoshi
I don't know if this has been asked before, i searched and nothing came up. Also if this is in the wrong section, please feel free to move it. So...what is your worst guild experience ever? You don't have to say the names or so of the guild/guildies in which the experience happened. Anyways, mine would have to be when an old guild leader took a lot of members and officers donations to "improve our guild and get new players" but instead bought his self new armor with it and blamed me for telling people what he did after everyone left.
So whats yours?
So whats yours?

My first long term guild. We were small, and all very close friends. I was the head officer, and the leader and I were good friends outside of the game. That is until the stalking occurred. When I played with other people, talked to people on messengers, or went out with my rl friends, he would leave me nasty messeges and the like.

I used to be the leader of a guild that went inactive around 9/05 due to inactivity. I had to turn the proverbial lights off in the hall, so to speak. That always sucks.
In my current guild that I am an officer of, we had one officer who was always a bit of a loose cannon. Nothing wrong with that, he was never bad. However one day he acted like his account had been hacked. Got a lot of sympathy and quite a bit of "donations" since he had been a giver in the past. That wasn't the worst of it.
Shortly thereafter he jumped online, and claimed he was his own little brother, wanting to tell us that the REAL guild member had been killed in a plane crash, and that he was just logging in to tell us about it and that his older brother had left little messages for us, just in case...
... Which is about when my BS meter went to DEFCON 1. Immediately I checked for recent plane crashes involving passenger airlines. None. No recent small plane crashes either. Also his "little brother" didn't know which airline he went down in. Let's face it, someone you love goes down in a plane, you're going to know every little detail about that flight, even the seat number most likely.
So a bunch of us idled in the guild hall with his "little brother." I had whispered all of the officers, arguing for restraint and discretion due to the previous "incident" with the account.
Sure enough, while most of us were idling, I scrolled back to see basically a "hahaha! you guys are stupid and f'ing suck!" kind of a message from him before he kicked one person (his little brother's account, allegedly) and then quit the guild himself.
While the incident was out of character for this person, it wasn't beyond the realm of possibility due to his somewhat joking nature and young age (around 15-16). At one point he tried to IM me and want to return some stuff I gave him after the first incident, and claimed that the second incident was the work of his little sister. I told him to keep it (two pets, 50k) as a severance payment and put him on ignore.
Really sad that some people will do this and while I hold no grudge nor wish him ill will, and honestly there's no way to 100% prove or disprove that these incidents were entirely of his doing, I don't need this kind of distraction when I'm just trying to enjoy myself.

Okay, another guild experience;
A few friends of mine were planning on making our own guild. We worked it out to who was buying what NPC, who was naming the guild, creating the cape, ect. We were asking a few friends if they were interested in joining us. Someone I knew didn't even give 30 seconds to consider it. They left their guild, as an officer, went and bought a sigil, and created our guild.. without even consulting us. He invited all of his old friends, and made them officers, even though they were inactive. He himself was hardly active. We had a guild of 13 people, and he made seven officers...
We managed to temporarily make him make a fellow officer, one of the original people who wanted to create the guild to begin with, the guild leader. He inturn demoted those who the original person had promoted, and we took back the guild from him, although he wasn't very happy about that.
It all fell apart, as we didn't get off to the start we wanted, and people were feeling angry about the whole ordeal. It was rather rude, what the friend did, as he had nothing to do with the creation of it to begin with. He never consulted with us on anything, from the guild website, to the promotion of all of those inactive people. It wasn't pleasant, how we managed to get it all back from him.

This is not really a bad experience but it isnt really all that good none the less. About 3-4 weeks after I started playing GW in Jan '06. I recieved a PM from a fellow about recruitment in to a guild. So I joined thinking it would be cool to group up with people and make some friends. I was in the guild for 3 months. After repeated attempts to group up to assist or be assisted in missions and quests, I never saw a single member of my guild "in person" with the exception when 10 of us got together for a group shot in the guild hall one night. Feeling quite out of place I left to find a little more social group.

actually my worst experience was being invited to a guild by the leader who ended up being the only one who spoke english while the rest were all spanish speaking and trying to do thin gs with them not understanding anything they typed. the reason the leader invited me was cause i had experience and the rest had little or none which i found out later after i left

Well, this is sort of a bad experience. It's 2 actually.
Well, me and my RL had made a guild, we had about 50 members and they were all at least 2 weeks active and stuff. One day an officer asked if he could promote his friend, we thought yea why not, and he goes and kicks everyone when we're offline :\
The second was I made a guild (again) and it was only me and 3 other RL friends, my friend invites this gold farmer and promotes him. For the first week, he tries speaking English and stuff that was cool and then, he invites all his gold farmer friends. All my friends left and it was me with all this foreign text and people. The good thing was when they all left the game, they gave me all there stuff
So at the end of each week, I had like 100k extra ^^

Last october I joined a guild that I really liked. The people were nice and the guild was extremely active. But the this past spring the GL announced that he was dying. At first we were all upset and sad and justifiably so. The GL was 16 and thats pretty young to be dying. But a few days later another guildie, his own sister btw, told us that he wasn't really dying at all and just wanted to quit GW. Everyone got pissed off and alot of really good people left. Some came back but it was never the same. A few months later some of the younger guildies started making trouble. One pmed horrible things to someone I invited to join because he was openly gay. The whole thing came to a head when a someone told the leader of our alliance lies(we'd been booted out of the previous alliance because of some rash words from both parties). We were kicked and the traitor took most of the active members to the alliance leaders guild with him. After that I quit and started my own guild. The other day the instigator whispered me in-game to ask if I wanted to re-join the guild. The GL let him back in, despite his past as a trouble maker and traitor. *sigh* I'd just put the whole experience behind me and now its been drudged up yet again.

In one of the first guilds I was in, the leader was this super emo guy who's idea of GW gaming was sitting around Lions Arch at a scenic view and chatting. He said he wanted to do GvG eventually. Then he was hardly on and told everyone to hold on. This went for a few weeks. I just did my own thing in PUG groups since nothing was happening. He took us on a Tombs attempt and didn't know the first thing to do in there. It's not that I'm criticizing him for not being very experienced. It's the way the guild had nothing going on and he was clinging on to us which was holding us back. It went week after week and I was a new gamer so I wasn't sure how much more there was to GW. Eventually I quit GW for a while(not because of this) so I exited the guild. When I came back to start over, he kept sending unwanted whisper messages to me. Eventually I put him on ignore when it got to the point of bothersome and stalking. To respond to him, even to tell him to stop messaging me, would be like rewarding him with a response. He even sent people I've never came across before to send messages for him.

Wow... being in a guild can really be a pain sometimes eh. Never had an encounter that could be considered entirely bad, just some misunderstandings and character clashes.
Ghryphon
I wouldnt say its a bad experience...but this happens with mostly all guilds. Drama. People complain and whine about things and how they arent what they wanted it to be and blah blah blah. People just not happy because they expect something and its not there. When everyone first gets together things are great and on fire, then things cool down and it breaks apart which tests the character of people...and often times it will bring out the worst in them. Basically, drama is everywhere....in every game between teams, its just a way of life I suppose...sadly it ruins a lot of great guilds/teams because of it.
To those who stay drama and conflict free, many kudos to you...its not easy.
As for all of your past stuff...interesting. Specially the one who made an officer of someones friend and he kicked everynoe...hope you learned your lesson
Officer titles are supposed to be earned and entrusted, not handed out to please one person lol
Anyways...interesting stories, please continue!

No one in the guild I'm in is mean or annoying or anything, but I'm tired of the guild because not enough people do PvP. It's a very laid back guild and all, but no one seems to be concerned with the guild's total faction. If donating didn't count for double on my Luxon title, I would just buy shards or scrolls all day long. So far I've donated ~1.3 million faction in about four months, and the guild is currently at around 300k faction, and that's only because we haven't fallen all the way back down from the double AB weekend yet. It was down to 80K at one point.

the first guild i was in was realy good, they were happy with casuals and PvP people.
they joined an alliance with a few casual guilds and a couple of very PvP obsessed ones (we were sort of in the middle).
it was fine at the beginning, untill the comments started;
one of the very PvP guilds made a comment about the lack of PvP and faction farming that the others did.
these slowly got worse, untill it reached a point that nomatter what time of day you went on several people would be bitching about the other guilds in alliance chat.
unfortunatly some of our officers joined in and started repeatedly pestering us to farm lots and lots of faction, at the time i was very regularly playing and they would especialy target the regulars.
it was then there was a leader change and 3 cloak changes in 3 days;at thais point there was a mass exodus from the guild and it must have lost about half its members including me.
my brother was in another guild in the same alliance and he got fed up of all the snipeing and left his guild at the same time.
we formed our own 2 man guild.

Nothing all that bad yet aside from our guild being in an inactive alliance... luckily we took the few active members into our guild (I said 'We're in ur alliance, stealin' ur doodz' whenever we brought someone over) and have started a new alliance, hopefully to be more active.

Omg that's too funny xD.

Not meaning to get after some people, but please keep Guild names and tags out of the thread, just so a mod doesn't close it for flaming and such.
Keeping with the theme;
There was a faction farming guild I was in for a brief two days. It was a rather large guild of about 80+ people or so, and it was so impersonal. The officers only cared about recruiting, and once they got these recruits, they had nothing to do with them afterwards. I suppose this is the downside of a large guild (not all), but there was no interaction. There was such a high turnover in this guild, that no one knew each other. When the guild grouped up, the feeling was like just grabbing a PUG.

I think my worst experience is when I was leading a guild; that's what happens when you don't really have a goal - or don't follow it and let people take over.
A while after I started playing, I've decided to make my own guild. They say it's always better to start with a friend, so I got a friend of mine to help me, and it worked. There was a slight problem; the friend was from UK. I'm Canadian. My playtimes were in the morning before classes, and late at night because I could stay up since my classes started at 2pm or 6pm. So of course, a lot of times I wound up alone online.
This guy invited a bunch of people in. I didn't mind, I wanted a big guild anyways. He was a GvG guy, and I absolutely hated GvG; but GvG was the lure to get more people. But you can imagine that a UK guy... invites UK people. They tried to get me into it, and me being too nice I agreed to a few matches. I sucked horribly. I asked them for builds and such, and they kept telling me that I could run anything, but then would yell at me because I sucked.... yet they'd ask me the next weekend, and would yell at me again... then they'd go nuts at the rank.
So stuck in a GvG guild when you're a PvE-only player; with UK people while you're Canadian...
... means that your PvE leader will appoint a random guy as a leader and quit GW for 3 months.

Getting invited by a PUG leader and made guild leader on the 3rd day after he raged on all his guildies (about 38). It was hilarious.

Mine would have to be this:
In the beginning, it was really a very nice guild. But then a complete arse was made officer. He then started to be offensive to most of our members and to go into detail about sexual activity on alliance chat. I gathered a group of other guild members (including another officer) who wanted this guy demoted, and for once he was sensible and decided to resign. Guild leader comes on next day. Arse is re-promoted (despite all the protests from many guild members). I leave. About 3-4 months later, the same officer who I was friends with and who had sided with me against the Arse asked me to come back. Arse had gone. Along with over half the guild, to form their own guild, because Arse + co had started a big argument, camps were formed, etc. So, now most of the remaining members are inactive. After this great disaster, the leader's method of helping the guild was to bugger off on holiday for a month without designating someone to be in charge while she was gone, and leaving no instructions. I agree to come back. Officers haven't got a clue what they should do, my friend says he asked me back because of my good organisation/command abilities, so it seemed to fall to me to save my once-favourite guild. I rallied the officers and remaining active members to confront the leader when she returned. I told her what she should do to help the situation (I had seen this happen before), and she did everything I said, and now the guild is well on the way to recovery. What thanks did I get? After being leader for 2-3 weeks in all but name, I was given a promotion to officer, and the leader now ignores myself and the two other officers (one of which was promoted without the consent or even knowledge of myself and the other officer). We have no say in anything, her decision is apparently final, and I don't really want to speak out because that could undo all my work and start the arguing/camps/leaving all over again...

My worst guild experience was when I first started playin GW. I wasnt totally noob at the game (
) as I had a friend who had been playin for over a year, and taught me prette much anything to hav a basic knowledge. A random guy PM's me to get into his guild. I eagerly accept, and enter his guild. It was a small guild, nearly 20 members, and I very quickly enterd the group. We started havin fun, talking to eachother on TS just for the fun of it, stayed up till late just to say some BS and laugh together. I was made officer after the first month. I got into a very good friendship with the 2 leaders and this girl officer. Especially with the girl (dont think bad, im 16 and she was like 20 XD ). The Thing that killed me and my relationship with this wonderful guild, was her. She had this kind of "love" for the guild leader, and for some reason, he ddnt relle "follow" her as she wanted. Now, I have to say that during those times I started to play GW, I wasnt relle feelin that well, had alot of problems in RL, and GW was prette much, with thoese guildies, the only way I felt better, as they could cheer me up relle good, especially this girl, which I got into a relle good friendship, or so I thought... Coming back to the story, she one day PM'ed me tellin me that she wanted to leave the guild, for the guild leader (1 of the 2) had been a real arse with her, makin her cry (heard her on TS doing so...). As she relle had helped me (in my RL as I stated b4) I followed her out of the guild, makin the leaders both pissed, as I was one of the most active/frendly players in the guild. She joined a friend's guild, and invited me too in it. Couple week passed, and she slowly started to ignore me, slowly, but still it could be felt. That's where I found out what "friendship" for her actually was. Using people to get money/weps/favors. Nothing else. I got relle angry finding that out, and cutted all the connections I had with her. I tried to talk to the old guild leaders, but they wouldnt listen, even tho they knew the truth I was telling them.
Now im in a Dutch guild
even tho I'm Italian. Luckly for my (not perfect but decent) english skills, we can communicate and hav alot of fun. Been nearly 3 months I guess now, and I'm happy where I am

Now im in a Dutch guild

Too many hoh guilds to name...but I wish some of them stuck around for more than a week.
Also, the tons of spiritway guilds. Just too boring to play repetitively.

My worst experience:
A year or so ago I was invited to join a top ranked guild in the game. In fact, they were the "guild of the week" around that time and seemed to have everything going for them.
Then I login the day after being invited, only to find like 2 people online. I looked at the guild list, and everyone had logged out like 21-22 hours ago. I asked where everyone was and the leader said everyone usually logs in about 2-3 hours from now. Apparently they are west coasters, while I'm on the east coast. Damn 3 hour time difference!
After about 2 weeks of not being online when the rest of them were, I ended up getting booted. Truth is, I was thinking of leaving anyhow, I was just depressed I was in a top ranked guild, but couldn't play when they could.

Worst guild experience.
It's not really a guild experience but it has become one. The guild I'm in is the head of an alliance that was before this bad experience very strong and we were good friends. Then one day someone suggested we add a guild to the alliance and we added them. Then some time passed and they seemed alright. But after a few dramatic misunderstandings they started to act up. Our guild leader at the time was busy with real life issues and the officers had to deal with the drama the best they could with what power they had. So after a few of these misunderstandings a few of our members left and joined up with this guild and then they started whispering officers back and forth trying to gain support about some of these misunderstandings within the alliance. So they eventually left our alliance and took some of our good friends/guilds with them. And now after a few months our main leaders of our guild are getting PM's from the leader of the guild that was disband and reformed into another guild (she is no longer a guild leader). And several of our wiki pages have been vandalised from them and our guild wiki page. I find it funny that someone would try this much to cause people grief over a game. They still continue to "stalk" (yes that's what it seems like if you've seen all of what they've done) certain members. It's actually kinda sad to see someone spend so much time doing this and finding ways around security options in the game to do this. They aparently found a way around the ignore list in the game. I just hope this person grows up and realises it's just a game because this is going too far. And that is one of my worst guild experiences.

Same experience that most other people had.
Was a leader of a guild and one of the officers kicked all the members etc etc lol.

Every guild I join dies because I suck the lifeforce out of them. This is true.

I doubt my experience was unique. We had a leader that never logged in, so the officers kept this large pve 80+ guild active and rolling, along with it's alliance of smaller, but budding guilds. People were constantly talking on guild chat and alliance chat, and it wasn't full of annoying 15 year olds that couldn't spell.
When the leader did log on, she was hardly supportive of her 'staff' and compared us officers to slave drivers, when everyone knows you can't just let 80 members do whatever they want on guild/alliance chat or things deteriorate.
Anyway, she was finally able to hand over the guild because once a month logging in wasn't enough. It wasn't to any one person either, but a mule account that the officers had the password to to keep it the way it had been for a year now, a counsel-like rule.
The guild was going well, minus the undercurrent tension between leader and all her officers, the members took the transition and the news well and were hardly surprised, it was just making how it had been for a while official.
Less than a day later, she logged in screaming that she changed her mind. We gave her back her spot and left, having had enough. We only stayed because other than her, this guild had absolutely wrong with it. It says a lot when all of your officers and then half your guild leave in the space of a week, the rest trickling away for the next couple of months.
That leader, killed her 2 year old guild.
40 people left with us within a week, and we didn't have to whisper them telling them why, they just asked for invites. We were added to the alliance so that guildies could continue to hang out with those that stayed, but were ultimately kicked.
A few days later, after 40 people left, she changed her mind. But it was too late and we still have the new guild with the same 40 people since conception, 8 months later. Plus, our name is cooler.

My worst guild experience was when my guild got from rank 777 to rank N/A without tourneys. And they NEVER listened to everyone elses build, they were sure that a build that had no anti gank would work... so we always got ganked and lost.

Pretty much the same story as everyone else.Guilds wanting you just to FF or if you dont pvp running their mouths about you doing it or else.I take the else.I am strickly PVE.I always let a recruiter know that. Also I would join a guild and no one helps out.I would jump in and in most cases others would not.A member for 2 days and I had helped more people then all combined.I thought that was what guilds were suppose to be about. You can farm anytime. It seemed like maybe 1 or 2 would actually help out in the guilds I joined. To me that seemed lame.Well I have my own guild and there is 2 of us.Only person I have invited is a old D friend. We use to always jump in and help folks in games especially Ancients in hell mode.Anyhow to make a short story long Guilds spend to much time recruiting and too little time retaining.
