NZ/AUS and Lag
Srry is My Trademark
Hi There
After reading many posts about lag and noticing that most of those people were from australia/New Zealand i started wondering if it is actually Anet's problem. I too am experiencing lag at peak hours, but i can see no problems in other online games. So is there anything us aussies/kiwis can do to stop this lag or do we have to wait for Anet to resolve this issue? Also can we expect this lag in GW2?
Thank You

I am located in New Zealand, and I am currently having lag issues. My initial though was that xtra broke something because my guild leader (same city, different ISP, both route through xtra) also has lag.

I've not found any lag in recent weeks that could definitively be pinpointed at ANet. My own wireless network dropping out and my ISP (Exetel) peaking in bandwidth during peak bandwidth use hours (ironically, during off-peak hours) are large factors in my position.

My ISP had a problem last week that gave me massive lag and disconnects, but usually things aren't bad. But I am in Canberra which is a pretty well connected city.
Still, 300-400ms ping is enough to make interrupting a little more challenging than probably intended.

yesterday I was crippled by lagg. Today not soo bad sudden spikes here and there.
But its always bad for us Thats the way Anet likes it (LOL ok joking they do care about us...kinda)
Check the forum here for infor on how to cut down on some of the lagg

I'm from the US, myself... but I hang out with a lot of NZ/Australian players, and over the long-term (over the past year) I've noticed that they all have a lot of the same lag issues. Mainly with connecting to new game instances, though obviously being a third party that's the thing I see the most.

In NZ to those who dont know, max connection speed is 3.5mb/s and max upload is 800kb/s but all other games run normally EXCEPT guildwars. Unfair it is, we can do nothing realy because its anets problem. EDIT: Mabe they should make oceania servers just for us?

I've been wanting Asia-Pacific server which us aussies and kiwis could use for some time now..

As I posted elsewhere Get your ISP provider to Prioritize QoS for Guild Wars
Since my ISP did this and tweaked there end
GW has been running great for us.
Oh and also don't have P2P stuff running it slows down GW communications.

I live in WA and get pretty bad lag at times. I always just think its my computer/net, but I play afew other games online and they never lag.
To stop lagging, i usually just stick to the International Districts....

I must say that PlayNC Support - GW Technical Support were very kind, patient and helpful to help me with my lag issue.
