Hey, need some builds for a split paragon, or builds for Alliance Battles. Just curious as to what other people use with paras in terms of split.
Darkpower Alchemist
Paragons in AB are scetchy at best, since you would need a team that actually stays together to be most effective.

If you can get a group together, however, you can give your side a decided advantage I bet.

Probably an R/P would be your best bet for a spear wielder in AB. Paragons don't have strong access to self-healing, speed boosts, ect like rangers and warriors do. This makes them less of a split and AB class.
However and R/P with escape, apply, barbed spear might be something like what you are looking for.

Yeah.. paras in AB are meh if you try to play it like PVE w/ shouts and stuff and go in non para groups. I do use my para most for AB though actually lol. I use this:
[skill]Heal as One[/skill] [skill]Heket's Rampage[/skill] [skill]Barbed Spear[/skill] [skill]Blazing Spear[/skill] [skill]Poisonous Bite[/skill] [skill]brutal strike[/skill] [skill]remedy signet[/skill] [skill]charm animal[/skill]
with
12 beast mastery
11 spear mastery + 1 + 1
and the remaining in Command for some shield protection. I tried it with all points in spear and beast and just using my Bison Cup for the offhand, but the shield is better and it isn't worth just one more point in spear mastery.
I switch out remedy sig for the new gwen spammable spear skills and w/ maiming spear every now and then, but i think i prefer remedy sig. and yeah, you can do the same w/ a ranger and put the remaining in expertise, but it's just a trade off for more armor w/ para. I can solo cap any of the shrines except maybe the multiple ele shrine (though I am still in the market for a "Riders On The Storm" inscription...), and I consistently win pretty much any 1 vs 1 encounter unless I just do something stupid. My fave is the lone assassin coming after the supposedly disadvantaged ABing para... they always die against this build x).
So yeah, trying to go normal-para build into a PUG for AB is pretty rough :/. yey for conditions :B.

However and R/P with escape, apply, barbed spear might be something like what you are looking for. what if you combined anthem of flame/apply poison/barbed spear? would that be too many skill slots? I'm new to Paragon, so I'm trying to come up with some creative builds.

Maybe replace Brutal Strike with Merciless Spear? Haven't had a chance to try it in AB but both have the <50% req and deepwound would seem better in most cases then +60 dmg, unless they cure it fast. Would save alot of energy too.
Edit:
Tried the build a bit in AB and it works ok. Degen is nice for the bad pug without any kind of heals, with heals I'm not taking anything down. It kinda played like a gimp degen ranger, with a pet but without the block/run stances and interupts ... so yea . Think I'll keep my paragon out of AB, they are so dependant on energy return from leadership for most builds which is hard to get in AB. This build works better then most of what I've tried though so if you must take you're paragon into AB this worked pretty well.

You spread yourself too thin. If you run apply you really want to be a ranger primary.

Yea just lower spear to 10+1+1 so you can get 8+1 command.

hlc617: I run a very similar build for my ranger:
[card]Spear Of Lightning[/card][card]Blazing Spear[/card][card]Merciless Spear[/card][card]Poisonous Bite[/card][card]Tiger's Fury[/card][card]Heal As One[/card][card]Charm Animal[/card][card]Run As One[/card]
My ranger also seems to win most 1v1s, the advantages of the para would be greater spear damage and better armour. My ranger can spam the skills over and over due to expertise and a zealous spear, but if you are trying it with a paragon, maybe replace something with a nice damage increading command shout, seeing as at least 9 points will be in command anyway. That way you might get a nice energy gain. Despite the nerf, i think [card]"Go For The Eyes!"[/card] might be worth a go.

The downside, of course, is that there's no speed boost. I'm thinking of removing Merciless Spear for one. Speed boosts really are that important I think.

since we're talking about a paragon here, it might be worthwhile to run "fall back!", since it's one of the few shouts that affects EVERY allied player. use it while standing in the middle of a mob... and you'll get a really, really fast moving mob.
anyways, i think the most effective way to play a paragon is to have 4 of them. paragons, like SF eles, become significantly more powerful if you run multiples of them.

My roommate and I run Paras together. He just puts in "fall back!" and Holy Spear instead of Blazing Spear and Remedy Signet. "Fall Back" for the exact purpose you mentioned, and b/c there's ALWAYS an MM or a pet running around in AB.

Oh, and [card]Heket's Rampage[/card] ends when you use an attack skill, I'm not sure this is the best IAS to use when you have so many spear attacks in your bar.

Is what I use if I decide to go to AB with my Paragon. Doesn't really have much over an actual Ranger, but still isn't THAT bad.

It's not that easy to get deep wound on a ranger.. damage is also quite a bit higher on a paragon with a spear than a bow ranger. (in general)

I've started trying out my Paragon in AB again recently. I was using this build:
[wiki]Holy Spear[/wiki][skill]Merciless Spear[/skill][skill]Blazing Spear[/skill][skill]Soldier's Fury[/skill][skill]"Watch Yourself!"[/skill][skill]"Stand Your Ground!"[/skill][skill]"For Great Justice!"[/skill][skill]Enduring Harmony[/skill]
I guess "Stand Your Ground!" is more optional, could use Fall Back, though I'd considered trying a self heal in here, though as for what, I'm not decided yet.
It's been working well, even though it has little self-preservation.
I might have to try some of the P/R Pet builds, they look pretty interesting.

Armor cap is 25 so WY+stand your ground = no no
How about healing signet? and soldiers defense is pretty good cause u already meet the requirement.

Its a little redundant because of the armor stacking cap, but not completely useless. "Stand Your Ground!" still covers the time between SY! shouts.

c'mon peeps, think more!! theres not only 1 good combo for the paragon, not everything has to be uber godly cookie cutter here. just because the majority of the paragon skills rely on your immidiate party, doesant mean u have to use them, use the skjills that also include allies, or just youself. when i AB as a paragon, im as greedy as the assassin when it comes to skill choices.
i use this skillbar in AB, its great againced all physical dmg dealers.
[card]"You're All Alone!"[/card][card]Mighty Throw[/card][card]Barbed Spear[/card][card]"Watch Yourself!"[/card][card]Shield Stance[/card][card]Protector's Defense[/card][card]"For Great Justice!"[/card][card]Healing Signet[/card]
of course i havn't played ab in about a month, even with the nerf to WY!, its still useable.
so what if the majority of my skills come from the warrior, i have many other "fun" builds that use the majority of skills from my second profession.
just think of what u want to do, find skills that go with what you are trying to accomplish, then put something together, tweak it later for balance, energy, or other issues that it might have..
i know im not the only1 that cares, so please. THINK!

u know, when done right, a 4 paragon capping team is quick and efficient and *gasp* hard to kill.

u dont have to if u dont want, i personally love the skill, and its extremely spammable with FGJ!, sure its a 3 sec throwing time.. big whoop, its comparable to the warriors executioners strike, same +dmg, with less adrenaline req, with fgj u, after 1 hit, u can throw it again, and again, and again.. its fun seeing high ammounts of dmg on every hit, espically on casters.
but hey, u can do w/e u want, this is just my perferred ab build, it does not rely on your party to function, and its just different. since its para primary, all the little assassins and warriors chase you going omfg stupid para in ab must kill him!!, in which case u just own them, then laugh at their miserable attempt at your life.

Heket's is just nice for a cheap, quick speed/adren boost, yeah? You start off with that, so you can get all three conditions on them faster.
Ahh the shield- just checked the wiki apparently the initial info I read on armor reduction when not meeting the req of something was toootally incorrect :|. Thanks for the correction yall and sorry for that noobness :x.

With a sin, especially an SP sin, I just cast Heal as One as soon as he gets near, and then wail on him. My initial 640 health + 120 Heal is way too much for a sin to handle. And warriors? Well, they're warriors. Not much of a challenge, especially the AB wars. I've learned that the great thing about a pet is that I can heal and kite and still be dealing damage. distilledwill

QFT
I particularly enjoy kiting away from a sin or war (not usually a derv as they have strong heals from Mystic Regen) and locking my pet onto my pursuer and hitting poisonous bite... oops, now you have to stop to heal and im a mile away. King's Spectre
If you don't want to go /W, is They're on Fire still the best way to keep Soldier's Fury powered up?

Man, i love that too i use a different combo for a lone assassin. I have Burning Shield, the usage is as follows: i click on the assasin and keep my finger on F(Default: Target Self) and my mouse on Burning shield. When the sin uses Death's Charge or some other shadowstep skill, i push F and click on burning shield. when they miss the first attack, they miss all 4 ( chain attack). Probably they cant use Moebious strike(recharges all attack skills), so they have no lead attack skills, and they start running. Ahhh, The good old days, when i hunt them down.... *sniff* Gotta love assassin light armor! Piercing owns.
