Asura Gate on Tyrian map

I don't know if this has been posted before, but I have a minor quibble with the Asuran gate on the Tyrian map.

1. It serves little purpose since its teleporting you to an area on the same map.
2. The icon is huge and covers up 3 mission icons when zoomed out.
3. It makes getting to LA a little harder, since you have to zoom in to the side.

Its just a minor quibble, but one that could easily be fixed. Notice that the Asura gates on the other two maps don't get in the way of anything and seem much better placed.

I agree. The first time I saw it, I thought "Surely there must be some use for this thing I haven't found yet." But no. It just takes up space.

I noticed it but for the extra 5 seconds I need to spend zooming in to map somewhere, I don't think it's worth changing.

I found it quite useless too.
Just move that portal to the battle isles and your sorted.
But i quess its to much work to change that all. its not a major issue

The only reason I can see for having it is that Boreal Station doesn't show up at all on the zoomed out map, so if you haven't progressed far enough to find a town in GW:EN you may have trouble mapping back there.

So I'd suggest moving it to be sitting right over Boreal Station.

not signed, worthless change ...

would be alot better to give the gate more usage by implementing more spots to warp too, like more towns, or finally DUNGEONS...

play all 18 once through and then be able to warp to them by asura gate would be awesome ...
then the gate on the map would be really USEFUL

Completely worthless change imho.

Seriously, if that asura gate wasn't there, people would complain that it wasn't fair that Cantha and Elona get one, but not Tyria.

I agree, but, could we at least "shrink" it down a bit?

No shrinking needed, it only needs to be moved a bit upwars. Nothing else.

Actually I just find the whole thing useless. Since I'm usually NOT going to the station, even if I'm in Cantha, I just use the ship and port to LA. Then i port to all the other towns. It's the same number of clicks if I used the icon

Ship --> LA --> other place
Gate --> Station --> other place

And in tyria well it's even MORE useless. You're already on the map, just go to the top and bam. I usually zoom in anyway because I like actually seeing my icons rather than wonder "wtf is that dot" and when i click on it it zooms in on the map anyway.

I do like phoenix's idea though. If it allowed me to port to dungeons i'd find it much more useful >_> or if it allowed me to port to maybe some of the other important towns like the Eye or Gunnar's (acting like the ship basically) then whoo.

Otherwise, i opt for gate removal

If is annoying, and would probably take about 5 seconds to change, why not change it? I have yet to hear one person say "I love the placement of the asura portal over LA!"

It's redundant.

Ship travel to LA serves the job just as well as using that portal.

The asura gate should turn to an outpost for sake. Maybe that's the reason why LA has less people than kamandan ><

This doesn't really irritate me, but I find a different use for moving the portal. Perhaps Station could be an underground city (Similar tot he Command Post in NF, only a town rather than an explorable area.) and the portal could be hovering right over it, and for the characters that don't have Prophecies, the portal would still be where it is.

Some people don't own prophesies.

I don't see the point in the portal being there.

Now 'that's' a redundant statement.... people complain about "everything" in all its entirety.

What I hope is consolidate all the ship/gates into a single icon, that lets you directly map to a big list of major locations like...
- Ascalon
- Lions Arch
- Dorkners Forge
- Sheng Jea
- Kaineng Centre
- House zu Heltzer
- Cavalon
- Kamadan
- SS Sanctuary
- Kodash
- Gate of Torment
- Gunnars Hold
- Rata Sum
- Temple of Balthazar
... etc.

That would be appropriate...

Though not for the reasons mentioned above. just for common sence.

the portal make sence in the other campaigns however so no change would be needed for those... Indeed I prefer zoning to Boreal station from other campaigns instead of LA. Far less lag in the doing of it that way...

Moving it a few pixel up would suffice. But not much of a problem.

I agree the Tyrian gate is in a daft spot, but the gates in factions and nightfall do serve a purpose to get access to the tyrian map.

Concider that if a person doesnt have prophercies, they need the gate to get there!

It wouldnt realy make sense for factions and nightfall to have an Asuran gate, but not tyria.

But it should have been put in a better place, but I guess it had to be near the capital.
