Hello,
yesterday, while mapping I thought that something would make a nice addition to Guild wars :
When speaking to a npc, you could get a book which records some of good looking and/or strange places in Guild Wars people don't usually get to and put entries on the U map when you're in the same area (like rez shrines).
A little example to be clearer :
You go to the Npc in Tyria and get the "Hitchiker's Guide of Tyria", which has like 25 entries but there's nothing in them yet. However, and hint and/or the area is displayed. So we have at entry 14 : "Floating castle : North of Lion's arch." And when you get there, the book is updated with the picture of it and some lore information about it.
I think it would be cool to know some more anecdotes about places of view in Guild Wars. Why was the floating castle built, who owned it, and so on...
Sorry if my explanation is a little hard to understand
Idea for a new book

There was a thread about a year ago about having lore libraries in-game, and being able to find books amongst loot to add to them. Your idea sounds very good and means that it would probably operate similarly to the Hero Handbooks in Gwen. At the very least it wouldn't seem to be a very big leap.
But that's just my two cents

This is somehting I would be in favor of. It sounds fun, and may encourage people to travel to far out places where they may never normally go, such as the Shrine of Balthazar in The Wilds, Maw the Mountain Heart's domain in Dreadnaught's Drift and the Stone Summit Encampment at the bottom of The Frost Gate.
Would need some form of incentive for completing it, even if it were just maybe a sum of money, 5000 platinum perhaps (at least for Tyria, perhaps less in other continents). Perhaps to redeem such a book's "prize" you would need to complete the game and speak to Glint, Suun, Kormir or Droknar, depending on which campaign / expansion the book is for.

An incentive might be a good idea. Or maybe you can get points/collectable items for each journal entry completed and you can exchange them for items (Perfect salvage kit, and so on...)

I will ABSOLUTELY LOVE this one.
Just put some triggers all over the world that activate the entries in the book when you get close to them and Done!
For example, in Elona some of the spots could the the location of the treasures.
- Books for replaying all missions (To get a new endgame green, for example)
- Or for killing all bosses in explorables (non-mission and non-quest-only) of a campaing would be also cool.
- Or for killing one boss of each race available in one campaign.
