Can u cap if not got previous...?

I've heard different views on this and was wondering if you can cap elites for your profession in Eye of the North that originated in previous versions of Guild Wars you don't have.

For example, I don't have Nightfall and the elite skill Searing Flames is in Eye of the North. Can I cap it?

I'm guessing no, but then that's really retarded. I mean, you buy the game only to be told you're not allowed to cap some of the Elites! Don't put them in the game if you can't cap them. Make new elites!

Hope you can shed some light on the subject.

it's my impression that if you can kill it, you can cap it.

IIRC you can cap them but not use them. I know for sure you can't use them.

Ahh yes ok, but my Dervish and Paragon heroes have skills from Nightfall, but they can use them! So I guess only the 'human player' has the skills locked.

I'm guessing if my heroes can use Nightfall skills and I can't, the same applies for the Elites?

You won't be able to cap them. The names of the skills will be greyed out in the signet's screen.

Theirs is a special case. They can always use the skills they have when you get them, even if you don't own the campaign. So, they can not use elite skills from campaigns you don't have, as you can't unlock them.

X Earth X is correct. Basically, if you didn't pay for the content, you can't use it.
