Hi guys I need help with beating the Bison and defeating the Frozen Griffon in the quest "Cold as Ice." Bison I have come very close to beating with a stance tank, but the griffon is really killing me. I can use any of the weapons but please no Nightfall skills. Thanks.

Bison isn't too hard, you just need good timing with ripostes/stances. I did it with Ursan Blessing, though it depends on how high your Norn rank is and how badly you need your elite. Could try to give him weakness, but I'm not sure how well that would work.

I don't think the griffon gets stuck anymore, so you can't exploit his tendency to get stuck on everything. If you can hold aggro, you can riposte the guy, but he often breaks aggro to get back to his spirits. I'd say just try to bleed him to death. He has no selfheals so as long as he degens he will eventually die.

I hate resorting to builds like these.. but this worked very well against Bison:

[skill]Riposte[/skill][skill]Deadly Riposte[/skill][skill]Gladiator's Defense[/skill][skill]Dolyak Signet[/skill][skill]Distracting Blow[/skill]

Add whatever else you want, I can't remember all of the skills.

If you have Factions then Auspicious Parry would do great combined with those 2 Ripostes, lol.

i used war/nec for both fightning tournament and cold as ice.
for the tournament i used
dwarven drunken master
sever artery
gash
galrath slash
final thrust
finish him
grenth's balance <elite>
dolyak signet

the key to this build is timing. The killing skills for the casters(monks/mesmers) and the bison him self is a combo of grenth's balance, finish him and final thrust.
i would hit drunken master first to increase speed and attack speed, its a stance for like 68 seconds+ so i had +15% damage, -2damage recieved, and
+45 health with my equipment. then hit dolyak signet when you get close to the bison
you need to build up enough adrenaline to have final thrust ready to go as well as enough energy for the final kill, so after first using drunken master , dont use any more energy skills until the kill. Basically you keep cracking away at the bison building adrenaline as he gradually lowers your health just before you die, and while youi have full energy hit grenth's balance, finish him and final thrust works every time, sometimes with only the first two attacks..... good luck

I killed bison it with a KD heavy hammer build, dev hammer and counter blow as my KDs, weakness works great, then flail and FGJ to keep the adrenaine coming, heal sig when he's on the ground, the other skills are up to you, cant remeber what I used, nothing crucial.
