Okay, I've just finished vaquishing Cantha, and I'm moving back to Elona to finish it up. I'm currently at 27/34 and the undead in the Desolation are giving me trouble, mainly in areas with untunnelable rock. For example, the Alkali Pan, has one group of undead, with a boss that you can't get to with a worm. It's a mesmer boss, with loads of healers that scourge and rez, dervishes that can't be hit with spells, and with ignorance and SoH thrown in, I can't even Bring a gimmick smite build, because we all get shut down. I literally can't kill a single undead outside of a worm, and if I did, the alcolytes would just rez them anyway.

I'm a necromancer, typically running an SS hybrid, and I've got all the heroes. Can anyone who did this area recommend a build?

Try 2 Dervishes with Avatar of Balthazar or Heart of Holy Flame?=P Or a Smiter/Protector, using Signets and Judge's Insight for damage, and Aegis, Dismiss Condition for some Protection?

big bit of advice 4 u for the alkali part is 2 send in a hero as bait and flag them back to your waiting wurms...how I vanquished that mob!

try taking frozen soil on one of your heroes perhaps stops rezzing so makes life bit simpler without constant rebirth from enemies...BTW some rezs can still be used by you that are uneffected by frozen soil..enemies dont possess these rez though ^^

If I am thinking of the same mesmer boss you are talking about (the one with Hex Eater Vortex?), going as SS will be difficult...all of the mesmers in that (big) mob will strip your hexes and damage/kill your team in the process. Rebuilding as a smiter might be an idea, but in any event that mob can be pulled to a wurmable area (close to the res shrine). If they don't come all the way, you can at least pull them a few at a time to a place where your team (in their normal forms, not as wurms) can deal with them and their corpses will disappear without being ressed. The acolytes need to be right on top of the corpse to res it. Pick them off a few at a time.

For the other areas in the Desolation with large groups of undead in unwurmable areas, I did it by giving three heroes and myself a nice selection of smiting signets and spells (Signet of Judgment, Judge's Insight, etc.). I also had Olias go partly as MM (in addition to having Signet of Judgment). The minions gave an extra helpful boost in some of the areas. Balthazar Dervish is a good idea too, as was suggested above.

I have legendary vanq. jokos domain is even worse than the area you are in.
some tips from 1 necro to another:

1. DON'T USE CURSES.
2. see#1
3. get a team of 1 warrior that will be bait/puller and trappers.you can run blood spike/ with wells.
4. use frozen soil and other trapper friendly spirits like EoE and winnowing.
5. go slow and watch for pop ups.
6. when doing joko's domain NEVER have the quest a deal's a deal the area doesn't vanq with it active.

It can also make that "eeh eeh" interrupt sound coming from all your casters extremely annoying as well.

I have yet to find a way to stop their interrupters from interrupting mine.

i did this zone and all other zones with undeads using my own build. My team was Me war (dismember, triple chop,"watch yourself","shields up"), Kahmu (with Avatar of Balthazar),dunkoro(bonder with life barrier and stength of honor to buff melee dmg),ogden ( active smiter with aura of balthazar, judge's insight, glyph of energy(elite), smiter's boon, smite hex, smite condition and reversal of dmg), mehnlo and Khim for healing and prot, Eve for blood ritual and Herta for wards. DO NOT bring any hex, u must have 0 hexes on ur skill bars , I hope this can help u:

I cleared the shattered ravines and poisoned outcrops at the weekend, using
2 barrager ranger heros and rit spirit spammer hero. I had great dwarf weapon PvE skill which i cast on both rangers then lured to spirit wall. The rangers also had fav winds and frozen soil. The KD's and extra damage from great dwarf weapon wiped them out pretty quick! I Also used the PvE skills Iam Unstoppable so as to avoid KD when luring, and Pain Inverter to take out any AoE nasty ele's.

It was slow, as for each group had to set up spirit wall, flag rangers behind spirits, then flag hench a bit further back. Cast weapon spells, prot myself up and lure! However I had very few deaths.

I'll give this a try. I've got Rank 8 in Dwarven rep, so GDW should be handy here. Thanks!
