Those of you who play/used to play Lineage 2 might know about this. My younger bro plays L2, and I've noticed that lots of people in his clan have the same shield, and he told me it was his "guild shield" or something.

Having a guild shield that we could design almost like our capes would be pretty cool, wouldn't it?

I think this would be a great idea for GW2, but I think it might be to much work to implement into GW1. Unless maybe the coding is so similar they could code it for GW2, send that portion of the code to the people working on GW1, fix it up to work in GW1 and implement it that way.

Sounds cool, maybe in GW2 though.

This had by my knowledge (and it hasn't let me down since) been suggested in some thread over a year ago.
Never the less it's a good idea yet hard to work out.
Too much rendering would put strain on the servers.

This does not mean i don't like the idea though.

hmm - use only ONE shield skin - and make the same npc customizer as for the capes...
the shields could be crafted at the guilds weapon master? At a resonable price of 5-10K + materials. They would be blank with a free insc. slot.

Sounds like a good money sink to me...

Theres a really really really old post of me (the one Elik talking about) asking for the same thing and some more options for casters as well. Its really thought out and with the new inscription system it should be available to implement.

There were a lot people that signed for it, tho Anet never made the update...

But do keep this item hot and whenever you get the chance to bug Gaile ingame, keep asking for it!

Too bad shields aren't the weapon of choice for most professions.

No nail hit imo.
Shields are the most commonly used items I think... Casters use shields, warriors use shields and paras use shields (in PvP anyway, where showing guild colors matters most). Admittedly, assas, rangers and dervs hardly ever do, but I don't think this should be a real reason not to implement this. There's no balance issue or whatever at stake, it's just good fun.

I'm a ranger. We use bows and hammers.
My best friend is an assassin. He rarely uses anything but daggers.
A bunch of my guild guys are dervishes. They rarely use anything but scythes.
Ever seen a rit with a shield? Ever seen... well, most casters with a shield outside PvP (and those that do often use a wintergreen)...?

There goes you're "everyone uses a shield argument". Its a nice idea, and I don't know L2, but in a game where only two classes are geared up for shields, its fairly pointless.

I would use a shield as a caster if it was also a focus or had bonuses my character could use.
The armor + while usefull in some situations isnt much of a help otherwise.

Good for Paragon and Fighter classes though, and I don't begrudge them a guild shield.

forget guild shield, make a guild headornament! It could be just a copy (kinda) of your placed ornament's benefits but it's shaped like the pope's cap and has your guild's name in big letters!!!!! (seriously Anet if you take the description seriously I will throw a rock through your building's window :P) But it could just have the guild insignia on it or something like that...
