Have any women here got the max title yet in the KoBD family? I want to know if it says "God Who Walks Amongst Mere Mortals" or "Goddess Who Walks Amongst Mere Mortals"?

Not that I expect to to have 30 maxed titles any time soon... and not to appear to be a sexist... but if and when I do, I certainly don't want to be relegated to the level of mere God.

now why would a deity have a gender? a gendered deity never really made any sense to me.

Yeah, I think you'll just have to take 'god' on the chin, like how in the past few decades Hollywood women have appropriated 'actor' as non-gender specific, and no one would want to be called an 'authoress' (ewww!).

There's noone with max KoaBD yet. But it'll probably just say "God".

Its a movie quote, just like the rest of the KoBD titles, all from "Anchorman" if you are interested. No insult intended for women, but just the way it is. I'm sure Anet can just code in a check for the gender of the character before the title is displayed, but it just ruins the easter-egginess(not a word, I know) of it all.

Anet was able to separate genders for the witch/warlock festival hat why not here?

Yeah it's a movie quote... and from a fairly funny movie at that... "Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy". In fact, I've made that very same point a couple of times to others on this forum who don't think the titles are very well named.

But it's the only title that is gender-specific ... and it would still be recognizable as that very same movie quote if it said Goddess instead of God on a female character. Personally, I believe "I Have Many Leatherbound Books" (non-gender specific) best defines me because I'm a voracious reader, but... if I do surpass IHMLB and MGHSORM and advance to AGWWAMM, I want it to read Goddess, not God, and I will lobby for that to be coded in if it hasn't already been, since we already know they can do that. Besides the festival hats being gender-specific as tommarrow has pointed out, they have to be gender specific on the French and Spanish servers as well. Do they have Italian servers? If so... them too.

What's funny is I'm one of those who cringes during the Academy Awards when I hear them continually say "Best Actress" and "Best Supporting Actress"... even into the 21st century when, in fact, as you say, the word 'actor' has been appropriated. Why don't the members of the Academy realize that?

My wink was to indicate that I was joking was about being relegated to the level of God. I really don't see being a Goddess as superior to being a God. I love men and I love to tease them. I do prefer Goddess over God though because of the evolving connotation of a self-aware, self-assured and self-confident woman.

They dont have to, God is non gender descript now.
Just like Actor, Actress isn't proper English (or 'politically correct' anymore.)

Especially in the case of 'Gods' where they are really onmipotent beings whose gender, if truly any, is almost always up to dispute (and likely to change at will.) Example being the saying; 'God is a woman.' If she were a woman, she'd still be called 'God.'

Like restaraunts now say, "Hi, my name is Lilly, and I will be your server this evening." Like, no you are a waitress...

But, "Deity Among Mere Mortals" would be true to the PC crowd and wreck the whole "Anchorman" theme.

While I do agree that the max KobD title should be coded to realize the gender of your character and make you "God" or "Goddess", as Griff stated, it would ruin the Anchorman theme. Besides, I'm with Earth on this; no one has gotten 30 maxed titles, so it'll just be "God".

There is already a mechanism in the game that recognizes a characters gender and changes the title appropriately. In many languages other than English that is required. While a "Treasure Hunter" can be both male or female, for example, in German a "Schatzjäger" would be male and a "Schatzjägerin" would be female.

I don't see any reason why this function couldn't be applied to an English title. I don't know if it will, though.

Doubt they will give it gender recognition. Female characters say "I'm King of the world" when drunk, and not "I'm Queen of the world".

Maybe that is true for the christian god, but there are other religions and beliefs. With GW being an international game, it should considder that.

But come to think of that, there are atheists too. Myself included. Maybe i dont wanna be a 'god' amongst mere mortals :| dunno, im so confused

If a God can't decide to itself; 'hmm I think today I'll manifest as a male//female today' I would hardly think their powers to be omnipotent. There are stories in every belief system of gods using various forms and disguises to their own ends.
Take zeus and using even the form of a bull to seduce a woman..

Gods are gods, gender is a purely biological concept.

I'm closing this thread as it's going way off course & off-topic. (and the OP's question has been answered as well).
