Heya. Not sure if this is the right place for the thread, but here it comes anyway.

Where do you guys spend your lockpicks for lucky title. I know its the highes chance to retain it in starter places like Ascalon. But the questíon is where?

I found it hard to find cheasts there so if you have a good place, share it here plz

As i don't have a high treasure hunter title or luck (r3 TH and r2 Luck) i tend to chest farm higher levels personally. Grenth's foot print loop from Deldrimor War camp via kilroy/orozar highstone followed by a sorrow's furnace visit usually nets 4 - 5 chests in 15 minutes and a lockpick averages 3 - 4 chests on a good day. Works out that lockpicks become value for money that way (especially as a good friend of mine supplies me with lockpicks for 1250)

If you have a high rank, a guildie reckons ruins of surmia to frontier gate usually pops up 1 or 2 chests.

Dude I gotta tell you first though that using your lockpicks to get lucky title is kind of a last resort to tell you the truth. It costs an absurd amount of money and time. If I were you I'd wait for next Dragon Festival and stand in rings.

Time, yes...money, NO! Considering that it costs about 40-45k to gain 50k experience towards the lucky title, I would definitely say that the Dragon Festival is the fast, but expensive way of doing things.

Assuming you buy lockpicks for 1,250 gold each, at just 40k, you could have bought 32 lockpicks. Some of those lockpicks you will be able to use more than once, based on luck. I don't know about you, but if I use up 32+ lockpicks in GW:EN, I am guaranteed to get at least 100k in items. So I'm actually making money, as opposed to throwing out the 40k for just a +2% chance improvment in future lockpicks.

Don't get me wrong, the Dragon festival is a much faster and easier way to gain ranks, but you're also throwing money away doing it.

If you go from 0 to 100k in tickets, you'd spend about 80-90k in the dragon festival. For that money (and the time of having your character stand in the circle for about 3 solid days), you'll get a +4% chance. 4% is nothing. To get your money back, you'll need to use another 2,000 keys to make back your 80-90k with the saved lockpicks. 2,000 * .04 = 80

Not many of us will ever use 2,000 lockpicks in our lives. Then again, it's fun to have the title I suppose. The sad thing is that 2,000 keys won't even be enough for the max treasure hunter level. 10,000 keys is a pipe-dream.

Wow, 100k+ from 32 gwen chests. You, sir, must have some amazing luck because I didn't get jack from gwen chests and rarely get jack from hard mode chests.

i've run that route about 6 times and have found 0 chests between ruins of surmia and frontier gate. there must be a better route.

I have rank 4 in lucky and rank 3 in treasure hunter, and I have just about been breaking even with lock picks.

Since GW:EN came out I have opened 560 chests. To give you an idea of the purple to gold ratio, my treasure hunter score is now 1007, and my Wisdom title is 770. Before GW:EN, I they were roughly level at about 450 each. Of course the Wisdom title also includes gold items dropped and the double IDs you get from gold armors.

I would guess that since GW:EN my figures look like this:

Opened 560
Golds 280

This actually surprises me, as it feels worse than that!

Anyway, I have not been doing any dedicated chest runs.. I just make sure I always have around seven lock picks in my inventory and open every chest I see whilst farming reputation points.

Out of those chests I have had nothing worth selling to anyone other than the merchant. I have had a few reasonable weapons, some good mods, and some good runes, but these have all been given to my heroes.

Overall my cash has stayed roughly level since the start of GW:EN.

For simple speed though, if you dont mind spending the cash, the Snowman dungeon must be one of the fastest ways of progressing this title.

I think hes not concerned about the treasure hunter title at all here and just wants the lucky title, so any high level chests aren't really what he's looking for. I think anywhere on shing jea or istan would make a good place for getting the low lvl chests, duno about ascalon city(never been there lol, even though i got prophecies xD). The sunqua valley and plains of jarin would be REALLY easy to run.

BUT, why the hell would you go about getting the lucky title this way???

Faster than the 2-3 chests along the Vermin route in Xaquang Skyway?
I suppose you DO need extended Shadow Form to run it.... but still.
It might be.... but then the drops will be crap I'm sure. The snowmen are mostly level 15 afterall.

I'm just wondering though... are the people who are getting lockpicks for 1250 buying them from other players? I either get mine through drops or have to buy my own from the merch at 1500 each... so what gives? I never see anyone selling lockpicks in trade-channel.

yes, just go to one of the big cities. you'll eventually see people advertising lockpicks for 1250g-1300g

The discounted merchants in the Faction owned towns in Cantha sell their lockpicks for 1250. The players that can access them are then selling on to their friends and others at the discounted price.

Edit: soz - my bad on the price, Yang.

Actually the merchants in those cities sell lockpicks for 1200 ea. - people resell them to everybody else for 1250 ea. so they earn 50 pr. lockpick!

Many people willing to sell them require you to buy 20-40 or 80 at a time (20 will only earn them 1K for their time).

Cheers!

(whisper me ingame - I have a name of a guy who sell me lockpicks, but I haven't got it handy atm. I'll be online tonight (GMT +2))
