I love GW, but I'm bored out of my mind...

I'd recommend what you yourself asked. Help the nubs. I do it all the time. I really find it fun to take a part and lend a hand in developing newbies into more intelligent players so that they don't have to worry so much about the high requirements of groups these days.
About the max titles, what good will they do you? If you don't want the grind, you don't really want the title. I don't want to grind my way to Legendary Spearmarshal, so I don't want that title.
If you have an open and friendly guild/alliance, chat with them. I have found myself doing this more than playing sometimes.
And of course, you can take a break. Don't go WoW style with GW and make it your life. *Real* life comes before games.

This series is clearly a huge influence on GW, and it's fun to see the similarities between the books and the game. The books I've read so far in the series are not especially well written... much more cliché than imaginative writing, but written well enough and combined with very good storytelling, so that it's worth it. I recommend it to any GW fans. ![]() |
I also like the Wheel of Time Series, but the plot is starting to move rather slow.
Take a break and play another game for a while.
Me, I'm currently taking a break from GW (with the intent of returning eventually, got an empty slot waiting for an elementalist...). Meanwhile, I'm beta testing Hellgate London, doing some light Supreme commander in preparation for its expansion, and perhaps I'll find the time to finally install and play Deus Ex...

Seriously though, in answer to your problem. I would suggest if you're not having fun playing/grinding, then help a low level player, either in a PUG or your own guild/alliance. Hang around in alliance chat and eat some cookies.

Make up "Starter Packs" for the various professions... then go and give them to baby chars in Chabeck Village, Shing Jea Monastary or Ascalon City.
It's what I do with all the golds/greens, tomes and runes from HM that I don't have any use for anymore... and when I need to feel good about playing GW again.
Yes, you get the few jerks, but the happiness and amazement from new guys is a jolt of "worthwhile activity" and you will have given someone a good experience to counter the jerks he/she will come across.

Bored eh? I get that feeling sometimes but it passes.
Yes one alternatice is playing another game, which will eventually renew your love for Guildwars.
Forgive my saying this on a GW board, but Hellgate London is comming out at the end of the month!
I also love gw but also find the need to mix in something from time to time to keep me going

YES YES great book series read them myself. Another good series is Wheel of Time, Eragon (the movie was F****** CR** so dont jugde it buy the movie the book is soo much better) i love good knight/sorrcery books theres plenty of them i would sugjest trying them.
If you are looking for somthing IN GW spascificly because you love the game but played it way too long then i would say try power tradeing or colloecting thats always fun.. you could also try doing some of your favorit missions from one of the first chapters you did those are alot of fun too you could even go for hard mode.
well GL too you and i know how you feel.
There are lots of ways to entertain yourself...most of the good ones already mentioned...but my favorite (because it livens things up for me AND people who want to play along): actually role play. Sounds dumb, but think about it...quite a few people become utter idiots and buttheads because of the anonymity of the medium (i.e. the MMOZZZZZRPG). So why not use your anonymity for the greater good (i.e. the entertainment of self and others)...
EXAMPLE: Make a character you care nothing about...I made a mesmer named Chapeau De Merde (yes, Shit Hat...in French), then went to LA International district and started asking for directions to lacations that are not even in the game. Try typing with a French accent...sheesh (ok, I made that part up)...after awhile people started catching on and started to play along..."Where is the University District?"
I once collected a dozen or so shadow bows of varying quality...mostly req 10 and below with fair mods. Then started quizzing aspiring rangers about this and that...first correct answer (public not whispered) wins a bow! Sometime I'll pose riddles instead.
Give something away to the best Chuck Norris joke...
Collect tons of red iris flowers and give them to random strangers...
Organize an obsticle course race in Lions Arch...three laps, first one across the finish line wins 20 hunters ales...sugar rush anyone?
Take off your pants (in game....*ahem*) and pretend to have lost them and ask people where they are....or swear you were scammed out of your pants and blame a random NPC.
Walk up to a random AFK and pretend to check them for hernia using the rock-paper-scissors emote...even funnier when they are NOT AFK.
Run in circles firing off all your unused fireworks and snowman summoners after drinking sugary blue drinks...ahhhhh....craptacular display of wanton waste of perfectly good useless items.
Spam lfg, need Leeroy Jenkins and two hobbits...
I find all manner of harmless stupidity completely worthwhile...get creative and blow off some steam...when you feel like you've completely relaxed a bit, pick a goal and see if your head is back in the game or decide if you need a true break...I took a couple weeks off and yup, it was still there...jst waiting for me....all the things that were really getting on my nerves kinda melted away and now I don't get bothered so much by the little things...
