FoW is Fissure of Woe. Fow and UW - Underworld - are 2 advanced questing/farming areas.

Or if they're wearing 'Fow' then it means the armour from that area (aka Obsidian armour).

How do you get access to FoW though? Which Guild Wars Campaigns do you need to have? I have Prophecies and Factions.

you can access FoW and UW from any campaigns : in Prophecies you can access it from Temple of the ages and in Faction it's Kin Zu Corridor, and in NF it's Chantry of Secrets.

Temple of Ages is the busiest, you'll be lucky to find anyone in Zin Ku in Factions

Make sure you meet the requirements before entry- Ascension in Prophecies (the desert missions + ascension challenge), Weh No Su in Factions (Nahpui Quarter mission) and however far it is you have to be through Nightfall (hunted quest?). To get to the Factions access town you will be Weh No Su just through the sequence of missions anyway.
