as we all know, Annet has now stopped with taking our idea. But heres the idea of what the Titles could have ben like.

Survivor
once reaching max survivor title, you will achive a new emote.

Wisdom Track
reaching to rank 5 will grant you a special Wisdom's set armor. Reaching rank 7 will make your name glow a gold color.

Treasure hunter
once reached to rank 7 you will get a special skill wich tracks the nearest chest. It only works once, And cant be recharged by morale boost.

Lucky and unlucky title
by each rank in those titles, your characters behavior will change.
Unlucky will make it pretty much depressed and dark most of the times *Wich can be seen because he keeps sighing and pouting and having his head down*

Lucky title makes your character jump often and dance or cheer.
*Works only in towns or outposts*

Now make mine stupid ideas come to life

I think the primarily cosmetic ideas there are ok. It can't hurt to have more emotes and the like linked to titles. I'm not so sure about the treasure hunter one though - I'm skeptical about anything that requires that much grind to get and is beneficial for non-cosmetic reasons.

having 28 maxed titles i say a big NO. titles are meant to be done for fun, not to have any advantage over casual gamers.
if u want to fly above the masses chose another game.
it's the beauty of guild wars. there's enough grind for people who want to grind, but it doesnt give u an important boost over regular players.
u want to spent hundreds of hours maxing chestrunner or lucky title? cool, i'm fine with that, but it only gives u better salvage chances (and anyone buys perfect salvage kits for important items anyway), and a slightly improved retain rate for lockpicks (and casual gamers usualy play normal mode still using keys so they dont even see the difference).

I know I've heard these exact same ideas before...especially the treasure hunter and luck/unluck stuff. Yeah, they'd be great. But it would take quite a bit of work to program in new animations that virtually no one would ever notice. I don't know about you, but I very rarely actually have my camera zoomed in enough to see another character's facial expression.

This is the reason that I don't like any titles giving gameplay benefits, but I'm fine with vanity effects. Only the treasure hunter idea mentioned in the OP isn't a vanity effect, and its a pretty useless one even if it doesn't take up a skill slot.

Though I can see people wanting to turn the lucky/unlucky effects off, and the Wisdom effect sounds like it would look very ugly.

My sentiments exactly.

They already have bonuses. You understand this, right?

Titles like Cartographer title track, protector, guardian, vanquisher, etc., fine, those are checklist titles. Grind titles like Kurz/Lux, Asura/Norn/Vanguard, SS/LB, Survivor, Wisdom, Sweet Tooth, etc., no. Only the stuff that you get by just playing the game (checklist titles). Any title that involves grinding = no.

I propose a new "Failure" title.

You don't get Protector title either by playing the game.

Unless there's a new quest that requires you to do bonus/masters on all missions.

The only titles that I can think that need more skills are:

Sunspear.
Lacks the 'title effect' skills.

Lightbringer.
Lacks skills for the levels 4..8.

One word, IMPOSSIBLE.

You HAVE to try to get the grandmaster cartographer title in order to get it. Explorer or pathfinder is possible by just playing. Anything else requires some grind.

cartographer does not require grind. grind is doing the same thing over and over, like the Gw:en titles or sunspear.

Back on topic: NO! giving titles abilities was when GW started to go down hill. Cosmetic things aren't a problem, so I'd have nothing against some of the changes here, other than the fact that they're too impractical and I personally don't like them.

Well, if you rush through, yeah. But if you take the time to enjoy the scenery, wander around, and of course clear away that nasty fog of war...

Then you didn't just "play the game," now did you

You may not have been trying for it at the time, but going for Cartographer does require extra effort that isn't strictly necessary to beat the game. That's his point.
