http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Halloween_2006

I can only hope that there will be a new one now in 2007!
Halloween usually takes place in the end of October from my understanding.

to get the item do u have to do a quest to get it or do u just get the item?

Nadasee
You get the items from collectors by trading in something like, Orr emblems, Feathered scalps or Charr carvings ect. It all stands on the site i linked.
You can also get some from King Thorn that allso gives you a Pumpkin Crown or Wicked Hat. But that was last year, no idea what is waiting for us this time!

can u get items from the year before? even if we werent playing? if u can where do u go????

rick1027
there were items that you got from collectors absinithe ghost in a box witchs brew squash serums and transformer something and there was the hat the npc gave to you when he arrived every few hours and you had to listen to his spiel. but the npc only arrived on the halloween itself the other came a few days before hand. at the event sometimes the hat or mask you have to collect stuff but i think the halloween has always been free
Nadasee
You can't get the Crown or Hat, since they are costomized like all armors for just one player.
You can buy the consumable items from other players yes. But that's the only way.
Best is to be there in the event and earn them yourself.

so can u get older items or not? can u get holiday items from the year before or the last holiday or something? or do u have to be there for the event?

DarkFlame
The past Halloween events simply required you to be present at a certain time(usually every third hour on the 31st) to receive the holiday helms. The other Halloween items, however are gained from trading in common collector items to the holiday npcs found in the main cities.
Recently, the other holiday events have required you to have a certain number of holiday tokens as well to receive a helm, the majority of those tokens gained in a series of easy quests. We simply dont know how this upcoming Halloween will be structured, though. Just have to wait another week or so to find out.
The helms, no, they are new and different each year. The consumable items, however should be available again through the above mentioned npcs.

YES you can, but only from buying them from other players that has them.
Like i saied. ONLY consumables (Drinks, Tonics, Ghost-in-a-box ect).
You can's get a Mask, Crown or Hat. (logical)

From past events you can get:
Absinthe
Squash Serum
Ghosts In The box's
Witches Brew
and Candy Corn Tonics
However, right now these items are only availible by buying them from other players who attended the event, and they will definately charge a premium for them (about 100-500g per item, and 500g-1k for the candy corn tonics ).
During the festival, these items are collectors items. So you have several new collectors spawn in the major cities and they trade for local collectors drops, such as Decayed Orr Emblems in the case of one NPC in Lions Arch. during the event when Mad King Thorn comes, and if you respond with the proper emote to his games, you get a number of these items for free directly in your inventory.
Other items you get for free during the event are Hats, such as the Witches Hat or the Pumpkin Crown. However, these are customized to the individule character like any other armor, so while you can trade for them they wouldn't do anything for you other than sit in your inventory. For the past two years, there have been no quests associated with the Halloween Festival, either.
I hope that helps.

I'm hoping this year I can make it for this event (So hopefully we have one :P)
I've always been curious about the event day stuff that they've had, so this topic has been informative for me too

Halloween was great fun last year we drank we danced we partied but most all we played "Mad King Says" and died a lot when we got it wrong.
My soul reaping was going nuts as all the players died around me
Then we got the hats just before he left.
After halloween you can await the coming of wintersday "Christmas" then I think the next festival is the Canthan New Year in Feb

so the people who give the items for the holidays are in the main towns? how long do the events go on for after the holiday? lets say i couldnt go on on halloween and i went on the next day. would i still get it? and y is new years in febuaruy?
gremlin
Wintersday is the same as Christmas so its late December
Halloween is on the festival of the dead so thats Late October
Canthan New year was chosen for a couple of reasons I suspect, western new year is right after Christmas and thats too close to the Wintersday festval.
Also Cantha and much of Factions is Oriental in style and the Chinese Celebrate the changing year in February.
Cantha has hosted the New year/ the Tengu and the Dragon Festivals
The Other two games had the Wintersday and Halloween festivals they being of a more western nature.
Its all listed on guildwiki that tells you what happened and there are also videos you can see either on the Guildwars website or on Youtube.
All similar in content there are missions and collectables to do and find also games at some festivals.
You collect drinks, food fireworks and special effects potions during the festival itself which usually lasts friday evening through Sunday to Monday morning.
Exact time depends on world time zone.
During the festivals every 3 hours there will be the hat givaways Mad king "haloween" or Emporer Kisu "Cantha" or some other semi devine being
You get a speech sometimes games and other fun then presents drop these have random gifts in them and right at the end hats given out all this takes around 20 minutes.
You then have to await the next visit to have another chance.

Actually DarkFlame, in the last couple of events, they have offered to give the helms to people for about a week after the event for those who missed the finale.
King Zeth

King Zeth

Farming is the killing of monsters for the purpose of gathering items, experience, gold, Faction,
or promotion points and is considered to be one of the quickest and easiest ways to amass wealth.

I've just been soloing the Gates of Kryta mission since Winstersday last year. 10+ stacks of Decayed Orr Emblems all ready to go. I normally get about 12-20 emblems per trip. As well as about 1.2k in gold after I merchant all the other drops.

Its an easy way to make money find the odd good item and can be done almost anywhere.
I made it to 100k just on shing jea island the Factions start area.
I used to make 3 or 4 farming runs each day before starting to play the game missions.
Doesn't take too long or get that boring if you spread it out over a few weeks.

noboy answered my question. is the halloween item out this weekend? and if it is what town is it in? i have gw factions.

Lots of people have answered your question. You're just not paying attention.
1) There are CONSUMABLE items that you can get from collectors. These have been the same for the past 2 years. Witch's Brew, Absinthe, Ghost-in-a-box, sqaush serum, transmogrifier (candy corn) tonics. These have various short-term effects, and you can look it up in the wiki here for last year's items. The collectors are likely to be the same for this year:
http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Halloween_2006_collectors
You can also read about the items on the main GW site:
http://www.guildwars.com/events/inga...k7/default.php
2) On Halloween Eve, October 31, the main event will occur every 2 hours from 12:01 AM PST Oct 31 to 12:01 AM PST Nov 1, (24 hours,) in Lion's Arch and Kamadan (Prophesies and Nightfall.) During the event, you will be awarded a special Festival Headgear. These Headgear are non-tradable, as they are customized to your account. They are different every year, and you will only be able to get this year's headgear. It is likely that you will ONLY be able to get the headgear on that day (by playing Mad King Thorn Says during the event,) as that has been how the past two years have gone. If you can't play during those 24 hours on the 31st, you're out of luck.
3) Since you only have Factions, you will not be able to participate in the main event on Halloween. You'll need to go buy Nightfall or Prophesies and get your character to either Kamadan or Lion's Arch.

that is unfair in many ways. why should only certain games have it and why is it only halloween night! it should at least last till the next day!
Mouser
Prophesies and Nightfall are by far the most popular chapters. Most people playing this game have at least those two. There are other events (like Canthan New Year) that are Factions-only. That's the way the cookie crumbles.
(By the way, the Christmas event also only happened in Lion's Arch and Kamadan as well, as of last year. I'd suggest you pick one of those chapters up.)
As for it being "only" Halloween night, the event lasts a full 24 hours. How much more do you want? Even if you're working/going to school during the day, you should be able to log in that evening and attend an event.

It was already mentioned Canthan New Year wasn't Factions only. Prophecies and Nightfall did have something which I believe was a better return than the Factions npcs had on tokens. They (Anet) either dislike Factions or believe the vocal popularity.
This is another way to get consumers to be interested in or buy other campaigns, exclusivity. Too bad Cantha still gets the short end of things.

Point is, there are chapter-specific celebrations. If you want to participate, you go buy the chapter.

thats just unfair that factions has less holidays. all i got for halloween is monsters randomly drop treat bags once in a while. but nothing good is in them... how much does candy corn tonic or a pumpkin mask cost?
