Pretty simple, state who is your favorite GM, and why.

Me: Izzy, he gets too much gosh darn hate! I think he's a great GM. He has a pretty hard job... he has to watch almost EVERY battle going on in GvG, HA, and HeroBattles to find which skills are crazy overpowered, or which skills are never used. But, at the same time, he has to make sure theres not a crazy over powerful skill for PvE also, like what Protective Bond used to be.

Second thing I like is that you can ACTUALLY TALK TO HIM! He has all his character names on his talk page, and you can talk to him... whenever he's on! I mean, I love Gaile and all, and going to here "speech's" is great, but It would be nice to be able to whisper her a specific question. It's annoying when she gets on, cause I travel to like 9 different outposts to find her. Izzy, I just whisper "Hey! Where are you?!".

I just think he doesn't get enough credit. Obviously he can't make EVERYONE happy. If he nerfs a skill, or buffs another, its ;usually for a good reason! The -50health to all spirits was great, I even whispered him and said great job! His reply made me even happier though "Yea, it's a good temporary change. Wait till we truly nerf sway "

I don't even know if he has a Guru account.

And as far as Andrew Patricks and the other GM's, I don't know there IGN's or where they do there "Hello!" type things. So I can't say much about the others.

I've never met a GM in game, but I think John Stumme is really funny. He works on the game's quests and the types of things he writes on the wiki are so quirky I love it.

My favorite GM is Gaile! Not only because she has a great sense of humor but also because I met her in real life, PAX ftw!

Yeah... I'm gonna go with Havre on this one.

Not cause I don't like them or anything, I just don't know them, never spoken to them or even seen them in game and I'm not going to base it off what they're job is or how well or shitty they are at it.

So he makes crazy never-used skills like what Protective Bond is now. He also nerfs skills that are very situational and are hardly ever used, like Chillblains.

Izzy needs to spend less time on Observer Mode and in his Sealed Deck games and actually look at the balance problems between the skills themselves. Hell, just look at Supportive Spirit vs Vigorous Spirit. Even if you're being knocked on by a Thumper, Vigorous is probably going to be healing you more.

I saw a GM other than Gaile once. I can't remember his name.

No one was too interested in his presence. He just didn't have the sheer "OMG IT'S GAILE" factor.

None as well. I don't appreciate a mentality where Anet staff use GW2 as an excuse for not fixing stuff in GW1 e.g. Clipping on Armours and Outstanding bugs that can be viewed on these forums.

I for one have unlocked Strength and Honour 10 times so far in PvP. If you ask me that is F***en pathetic.

Izzy.

Don't agree with a lot of the skill changes, but at least he asks for input, and tries to work with the community. He also doesn't hide in game, which I appreciate.

There are GMs in this game?

[/sarcasm]

Seriously, though, there's far too little GM presence for me (or likely most people) to have a "favorite" GM.

Umm there aren't GMs in this game. There are A.net employees who post on boards and Galie is the PR rep, but she's not a GM.

Maybe in the past it was someone, but certainly not anymore and all these fan boys make it harder to like them.

When they're in-game, they have the big GM letters above their head.

I suppose that counts for something.

I just found out something really cool today. I actually have one of the Programmers in my alliance! Linsey Murdock, she designs quests and fixes bugs and such. Really cool, IMO.

But they aren't GM's in the traditional MMORPG GM sense. They don't regulate anything. They don't ban people (dirrectly). They have no real power other then being able to talk in purple text in towns.

I mean, I guess I'm just being nit-picky about definitions. I still think Galie (who is the only person who really shows up in game besides the Frog) is a PR rep, not a "GM." Everybody else being mentioned (Izzy, Andrew, etc) are just a.net employees.

But, for the sake of discussion, I'll let my pickyness over word choices go and assume it means "favorite employee"... I choose the Frog.

I like them all. I've never had a game company answer my questions directly, and it's nice that they do that on such a regular basis. Such a thing is unheard of in my experience.

Like a few people "none of them" from me aswell.

Also if Izzy does watch them all is he asleep or something? As that last skill balance didn't solve much at all.

You fail to realise that Izzys word is not final in skill balancing. His team makes balance changes, and they go up to a final team who decides what gets balanced. A better job title would be skill balance suggester.

Why pay someone to be a "skill balance suggester" just listen to the god dam GW community. Basicly all the nerfs/buffs in the past year have been /fail in one way or another.

Oh yeah, that will work GREAT . The "community" Don't nerf SF. Give Sins the ability to one hit kill people. Keep my skill combos perfect and only nerf stuff that I play against that beats me.

Seriously, all this whinning over skill balances. Many of them have been quite good if you stop being so pessimistic and short sighted.

Not really, any one with half a brain knows SF shouldn't have been buffed, in the first place and most of the GW community would agree.

Some parts of the recent skill balances have been good, some parts have been total stupid and I do wonder if Anet play this game sometimes.

Could someone provide me a link to that epic win post btw?

I dont think he has the power to change anything but he does what he can to enlighten people like Izzy who would rather play team fortress than do his job.

My FAVORITE GM is Andrew Patrick. He is a cool guy. Willing to play on almost any PVP team you invite him to. I was there when he got R6. He is a very nice guy and always wants to know what you think about the game.

i love Gaile most of all.

its basically 100% because of her that i got my account back after being banned, when i was given a bunch of duped ectos in a trade..... support basically told me to go away and never come back.

until another GM comes along that goes out of there way to help people like Gaile did for me, she wins the prize!

i also have to agree however that some GMs (and anet as a whole) receive way too much hate. the game is great and sure i would do some things differently if i had my way, but only because my viewpoint is based purely on gameplay and nothing to do with the business model used in guild wars.

Too bad the community doesn't know the first thing about game balance.
