The Xunlai Agent are hearing the pleas of the people of the world. They hear the complaints about storage, and the need for more. However, the magics they have and magicians are not nearly enough to allow powerful storage expanding devices for everyone! But the need for space grows more urgent, so the Xunlai must act. They've decided, if the adventurers themselves would go through the tasks of getting storage enhancing magics, they would give such to them.

These quests will give the following items, once it's created, it's done and you may not get another one on that character/account:

Minor Magical Weaponry- Stores weapons and weapon upgrades, 5 slots, untradable
Minor Trophy tab (in chest) - stores only collectible trophies, 5 slots

Large Trophy tab (in chest) - Trophy tabs are expanded to 10 slots
Major Material Storage - another tab in for materials, only for rares materials

Superior Trophy tab (in chest) - Trophy tabs are expanded to 20 slots

In order to get the items though...

The Xunlai uses a formula to create items. They usually include trophies collected from creatures to power the three parts of the formula: Material, Spirit, and Symbolism. Then, the trophies must be taken to a place radiating power, like a Bloodstone, Tennakai Temple, or Shrine of Palawa Joko. The ritual then must begin, and it will invoke the curiosity of creatures in the area, who you must protect the agent from in order to complete the ritual. Even if none come, the ritual has a chance of backfiring, angering the spirits and the fallen, who will rise up and attack you for disturbing their sleep. The ritual may not succeed, or it may succeed with no trouble at all.

The Xunlai will ask you what object, and give you a quest. The quest will force you to collect randomized objects to complete it. The objects usually varies on the campaigns you have and the difficulty of the object.
Some examples:

Easy drops in:
-Ascalon
-Northern Shiverpeaks
-Kryta
-Shin Jea Island
-Kaineign City
-Istani
-Kourna

Medium:
-Maguuma Jungle
-Crystal Desert
-Southern Shiverpeaks
-Kurzick/Luxon lands
-Vabbi
-Desolation

Hard:
-Ring of Fire
-GWEN
-Shiro'Ken
-Realm of torment
-Underworld/FoW
-other elite areas

The quests will cause certain quest items to drop, labeled as quest items, which are untradable. The only thing in your log will be to collect ____, then talk to a Xunlai Agent. The quests will not be static, as long as it chooses three items from the three types of collectibles. After you give the Xunlai Agent, you can try again and again to go to a mission-ish area to do a task. The tasks are out of three parts:

1. Get to the area (May include fighting, solving a puzzle, or gathering keys like in Bloodstone Caves)
2. Do the ritual (Either a Eternal Grove scenario or the Hidden City of Djinns puzzle scenario)
3. Aftereffects (Protect from angry spirits, kill a boss, or maybe nothing)
4. Fail or success (randomized), failed ones will cause you to need to collect a whole different set of items. the easier the level the easier it's to succeed. Hard difficult may take you up to five tries to create an item.

for the most part, i like the idea, of course, A-net probably wont add in any more storage. They stated that they would be doing that in GW2... sad in my opinion...

If they implement storage upgrades, they should just give them to everybody.

Randomly giving the ability to gain 20 more storage slots whenever you do a quest would severely limit a.net server storage space. There is a reason a.net hasn't given us the ability to get unlimited storage capabilities, and that is because it would be a strain on their server resources.

If you buy a buy slot, then you buy a character slot with money to help support a.net. If you just do a quest to get more storage you are putting extra strain on a.net's infostructure without providing them any way to relieve it.

I don't think the OP meant for us to be able to do any of these quests, and get added storage space, more than once. So I don't think we'd have people farming for these items and getting 50+ storage slots for their characters.

To the OP:

Very nice idea, and well thought out.

I'm not sure I like the *exact* upgrades and methods in the OP, but I definitely like the concept of doing quests for storage/bag related upgrades, so /signed for the concept.

And what about PvP characters? How do they get those upgrades?

Err... I'm not very sure why PvP characters will need those upgrades. I don't know what you do but I use one character slot for all PvP chars so they get deleted very often and I don't see the need for a inventory for them.

The only reason a PvP char would need it is because he or she keeps on winning in HoH, and needs to pick up loads of items from the chests. :P

How often does another player drop something for you when he dies?

Well, mules exist. Won't be fair to let PvE characters be good mules and PvP not.

Agreed and I like the questing for it concept too and I would honestly kill for more inventory/storage space. Especially for armor...
I don't think it's logical for a player to be carrying too much crap but if we could at least get armor storage I would be sooo happy.

that could be a balancing thing and make it easier on the server if you had to make a pve char if you want the storage. While I am sure people make them for mules PvP dont even need storage. You might carry 2 weapons for a build that fits in the back pack. I understand your arguement but I dont think helping the mules is that big of a deal.
