How Drunk for Drunken Master?

Guild Wiki says there are 6 different levels of drunkenness in Guild Wars: level 0 through level 5. Most alcohol in the game grants you 1 level for 1 minute and stacks until you're all the way at level 5. However, the Drunk Title in Guild Wars doesn't count drunk minutes unless you're at least at level 3 or above for 1 minute.

So my question is: Can I drink just 1 generic Hunter's Ale from a merchant and gain the higher benefits for being drunk with the Drunken Master skill?

or

Do I need to be drunk enough to be gaining points on the title track to gain the higher benefits?

You cannot get above the 5th level of drunkeness. Start with something that will get you to 5 (spiked egg nog for example), after one minute consume something that will give you level1 (witches brew for example). If you watch your title track for drunkeness (press H on keyboard) you can tell when each minute has passed. This is just one example of how you can do it, but the premise is to stay drunk enough so that you gain one point each minute by staying above the minimum level to count.

Hope that helps.

reading the OP question FTL

I have not tested this , but i assume you must have a noticable drunken effect when you use the skill, for the skill to grant the bonus

You need to be at level 3 or more, so 3 generic ales or one firewater, spiked eggnog, or aged dwarven ale for the bonus effect of Drunken Master. I turn post-process off, and use Drunken Master's recharge as a timer to "drink" while I play.
