An improvemant for the GH skill trainer
legion_rat
My idea is this:
If you have more than one campaign, and you have unlocked the skills, then those skills should be open at the skill trainer in the guild hall (only) Not just core skills but any that you have unlocked. This does not include elites.
My reason for this is, there are a lot of good basic not elite skills out there that would help new characters, but if they are still on shing jea, in kamadan etc they do not have access to them. This would increase survivability for new characters and its a reward for those of us who have played for awhile and unlocked alot.
In arguement some will say this could overpower new characters, but other than the Iboga or Mantids on the noob islands I dont see who this hurts. As I said this would not include elites (thats another post) So it shouldnt be to over powering.
thank you

Make him show skills you have already unlocked like all other skill trainers.

Maybe level 10 and level 15 newbie arena grieving problem does not appeal to you but I have seen some doing that and only that just for kicks.

At least to those characters that have already traveled to the campaign where those skill can be acquired.
The variables are there, just give him a dialog so he teaches:
- Common.
- Tyrian
- Canthan.
- Elonian.
- 'New' Tyrian.
Skills depending on which 'port outposts' you have unlocked.

You can already do this quite easily, without using a skill point, and most generally for less than 1k, by simply using the normal tomes. It's actually a better solution than the skill trader even when you consider the hassle of going to one of the trading cities to buy the books.
Personally, I love tomes. Once in awhile I use one for myself but they generate more consistent income for me at this point than anything else. I'd hate to seen anything devalue them.

The GH skill trainer imho right now is pretty much useless for anything else but buying a cap sig. Would like to see it offer all unlocked skills and the skills offered in each major city(Kamadan, Kaineng, LA) but possibly only for characters that are...lvl20, and have unlocked each respective campaign. :/

The hall trainer is near useless as it is. I was looking at the whole killing to birds with one stone kind of thing. make the trainer worth while and be able to get needed skills for newer chars.

Please do something with the skill trainer in the Hall. Right now capture signet is as useful as it gets.

Yeah, stupid core skills guy. He could make himself more useful.

I've got a UAX account, which means I can drop by any skills person in any campaign and learn all applicable core and campaign skills. The fact that I can't drop by my guild hall and do the same thing is really annoying. Putting it for all unlocked skills will make it easier to add, too.

thanks for rezing the thread. I still think this is a needed fix. Who uses this hall trainer for anything other than sig cap?

- Unlike the other skill trainers he shows skills from all 3 campaigns (plus EOTN)
- As this is quite a handy service the price of adding the skill trainer should be more, maybe 25k.

i agree the GH skill trainer is crappy at the moment. Has it only got core skills?
definately needs an update skills you've unlocked. I mean its a personal guild skill trainer so should be pretty swish. As Rat says its 100k for summin thats almost completely useless apart from getting cap sigs. I own a GH and have been thinking for ages that this service has been a tad lacking,
PS what about the weaponsmith also having a use thats not customising weapons? maybe basic skin max items? would be good for new recruits if nothing else?

oooh an after thought....what if the skills trainer had ALL avaliable skills from trainers reached in the game.
For example you go the game new... you start in tyria... he would have only the basic skills from the Ascalon skills trainer. You get to Lions for example and all skills on all trainers up to that point get added and so on and so forth.
This would stop "newbies" getting hold of all top end skills (things only from Ember light for example) but also higher level characters having completed every campaign easy access to skills without all the tedious mapping about, that or having to minimize the game bring up wiki, locate the skill, go to the trainer in whatever town then buy said skill?
what about this for an idea? maybe a bit of tweaking and alteration but this could work well dont you think?

GH skill trainer should have a sign over his head: "Buy Cap Sigs Here!" That's about all he is good for now.

I agree with Legion. Our case in point is my guild farmed for 3 weeks trying to get the 100K for the skills trainer for our guild hall (Small Guild only 3 players). We figured it would at least have all the skills Asclaon City would have. Much to our dismay the skill lineup in Ascolan was much better than what he had. Ascolan actually had some skills we unlocked. One of our players only has factions and nightfall and the guy doesnt offer any skills at all to them. It's quite sad that most of the things you add to the guild hall are sheer cosmetic and offer little to no reason to buy them. Everything available can be bought from ascolan city for the same price. I think the Guild Hall system needs to be seriously reconsidered and realize that there should be a "Reason" to buy these things. Some advantage to it. Like a 10% discount when using the merchant or something along those lines. I must say that my biggest disappointment in guild wars to date and ive played for 3 years was the long anticipation to get the skills guy just to be let down that he knows less than the first major city's skills guy. Totally useless.

I's ONLY usefull for Prophecies players from Old Ascalon to Lion's Arch to capture some skills that you won't be able to find in trainers until later on.
After that, you have all those skills anywhere else. And it's not usefull at all for those that purchased the Unlock packs.
It must be fixed.
It should have at least all skill of any 'world' you have traveled to already. Unlock Kaineng City outposts, the trainer gets all unlocked Canthan skills.

Bah, I'll /sign it.
The guy's useless right now except if you want to buy a capture signet, as pointed out.

Maybe with this new idea, I might use it once
Oh, wait, nope, still won't use it.
