Filling a Handbook... for the second time
Duranin
eh, I turned in my first full NM handbook for 20k vanguard rep, and now I have a new book..
...but I'm really confused. Is it possible to completely fill a second book after you turned a completed one in? When I talk to the handbook collectors, they don't offer to fill in my pages, and I don't see how I can repeat primary quests, or is there a way to do so? I know the missions can be repeated, but how about the rest.. if the page about the handbook on gwiki said the answer, well, it was explained in a manner that I can't comprehend.
Me is wanting my spectacles. -.- thanks if anyone has an answer :3

"quests" are never shown in the hero books, only the missions. All the missions are repeatable, so yes, you can fill books more than once.
Maybe I dont understand your issue...
edit - I also cannot pay them to refill pages for missions that I have already completed. That was probably one of the things ANet disabled in the second patch that fixed an exploit...

so... I just have to go back and do all the missions? funfun. -_o
it's worth it, though ^^; I've got my 10k and materials all saved up, now all I need is the title.

EDIT: Oh wait, I just saw you were just getting sunglasses. DOH!

eh... what do I do for Warband of Brothers? It's not really a mission.. do I just tag along with other people doing the mission for the first time?

it is a mission. just talk to one of the NPCs in Doomlore Shrine to start it. I think its the merchant, but i could be wrong.

You can go to the scrying pool in Hall of Monuments and pick up any primary.

No, it says you can pay to have them filled out if you completed them *without* your book. That is - you can't simply pay less than 2k over and over to gain back 4k + 20k allegiance, otherwise you have infinite gold
I assume that the first time we could do that was only for characters who already turned in one book due to the drastic increase in allegiance awarded.
I assume this works for each go through the game but I do not know if it "saves" them up (for instance, I have a book and do "blood washes blood" 10 times do I get to fill the next 9 books or not?). I haven't tested it as I always carry the book and have not repeated mission.
It basically means you don't have to carry the durned book around all the time - if you complete a mission or dungeon and you forgot to carry the book it means you no longer have to redo it for credit.

Against the destroyers ... NO. as such you can never get to HoS Cyndr again, Unless you tag along with pug.
But this is soon to become moot as I'm almost positive in order to unjustly nerf the 2ndary character shortcuts they are going to make it that hero handbooks no longer have primaries done when created, If you have it done on your account.

Reason why some missions are standard filled in your Handbook already.. ;P
Also redoing all the mission in HM, if you have a dedicated friend with you with heroes and good build shouldn't take you that long..
That's how me and my friend filled 2 books..

That's how me and my friend filled 2 books.. Not for long If Anet does what I am expecting... They do not want people taking the shortcut on 2ndary characters, so I'll lay my bottom gold piece that they will remove the auto complete on these quests to prevent it from being done. Thus making it impossible to do more books after completion. and May make HM books only possible if you buy the 4 primary pages.

Just go get all the Primary Quests from the Scrying Pool, and you can do them ALL OVER AGAIN (with Hard Mode or just Normal Mode). You get a reduced reward for completion, but the quest rewards are the same.

Chrono Re delle Ere
You can make over and over again ALL primary quests. Anyway, just filled up HM mission handbook; not that hard for real.

The way I understood it was that you cannot "Buy" pages for a book until you had done the mission and had 8 pages completed already.
A new book comes with 5 completed missions - so you will have to do another 3 until you be allowed to buy the remaining pages.
So for a character that has finnished the game - he can get a new book , do another 3 missions and then "Buy out" the rest of the book
I'll test this tomorrow

You got that from Jora and she never gives it to you again once you finish it. and the pool never offers it again.
Here is the complete Pool offering once you are done with GWEN.
This is Part of the reason the 5 primaries appear in your book when it spawns, When you are done with it on the account.

i have a normal mode handbook with 8 pages completed, including the pre-filled pages.
took it to the norn guy yesterday hoping to fill in the rest of the pages but he would only take it as-is, with a reward of 2k rep points, and some amount of gold and xp.
so it is on a sliding scale of complete-ness that determines the reward amount. i wish you could just pay to fill the rest of the book :/

yea. my comment has to do with a fix Anet is considering to stop the shortcuts to CTC and A time for heroes. which would mean the primaries would not respawn in the book each time. (see wiki notes for HoS)
The other factor thats bad with the loss of against the destroyers is that the Heart of the Shiverpeaks dungeon with Cyndr in it is not repeatable. If you go down there afterward you face Magmus, which is near impossible to kill. Even with a full party. . God help you if you had to fight Magmus in HM!!! OMG! Currently if you finished HoS prior... the only way to go to HoS Cyndr again, normal or HM is to get someone that has the Against the destroyers quest and ready to go to HoS for the first time. You know you have someone with the quest IF the blackpowder guy is in the right place. if he is off in a different direction then normal, or not there at all. Guess what? You are fighting magmus. Time to /resign and find someone that has the right quest. Or chance it and doubtfully complete it.
Oh BTW. I had a guildy mistakenly abandon Against the destroyers. lol Guess what? he was Fubar now on that character with no way to reattain it. He had to get it done for the account now on another character and reget his books so it will appear with the account flag for that quest, or bought the pages (not sure that would work for Against the Destroyers). However we got him through the shortcut with his character obviously so he is not inconvenienced at this loss on that character. After he finished it on another character the normal way naturally. the shortcut does not work for him otherwise...
All I could say was OPPS... and Sorry your screwed unless we help you get to end game in another way later. Others very soon will be in the same boat.

I read all posts and went back to the handbook guy I turned my book in to before the reputation award update for books. As you all were, I was upset and felt ripped off. I got another book and turned it in right away. the first time, he said I only had a few missions filled in. What? I turned it in and got a small rep award. I did it again and this time got the full amount given after the update. So, there remains a bug, of sorts, but the fix still works. I am satisfied. Thanks, GW team for that fix.

I already filled 2 books in hard mode. I find this to be a quite effective way to get reputation points (30k per book filled). Farming may be more effective, but I wanted a change of pace after farming to R8.
I did Heart of the shiverpeaks with a friend and 6 heroes in hard mode quite easily (except for Magnus, it was our first time so the pop ups surprised us) and you don't need it. You only need to do the 3 primary quests for Asuran, Norn and Vanguard , and the last two "dwarven" quests (including killing the great destroyer, which gives 7500 dwarven points or 15000 if you did it during the week end )
