Any update on Monument of Valor?

OK, first of all, please don't flame me for this. I've used the search and read over the threads found searching for 'Valor' and 'Monument of Valor'

Does anyone know if Anet plans on allowing Green weapons into the Monument of Valor? I've been looking for any update on this with no luck.

Green weapons are used by Bosses several levels higher than us (yeah, there are low level greens but it wouldn't be that hard to keep them out, I don't htink). They're Bosses for a reason... right? But their unique weaponry doesn't qualify for the Monument some reason.

I agree that at least one destroyer weapon should be placed in the Monument, perhaps even first, before the player can add any green weapons. This is GWEN after all. However, like many others here I see no purpose in acquiring 11 of them.

If they were some sort of Voltron-type sentient weapon that combined into some sort of World-Ending <insert weapon type> of Doom that had some practical value that would be one thing, but as it is...

Also, Golds and rare skins are too varied, the 'value' of them is too unstable. I don't see why anyone would feel they belong in the Monument.

Anyhow, I'm wondering if anyone's heard anything on the grapevine or in forums in regards to Valor req's being modified any time soon, thanks

The monument is for passing specific weapons into Guild Wars 2. Yes, it sucks that they are all ugly. No, I don't think they'll make any exceptions unless they end up making new weapons sometime that can be added. Green weapons use skins of other weapons available in the game, meaning that GW2 would have to include old meshes.

Not to correct you spazzer but this is much like the assumptions that started all the HoM rant threads.

The Hom unlocks things in gw2 , none of these things will give an advantage over a non-gw1 player. And only destroyer weapons unlock things in gw2 on the valor monument. What these things are has been summed up as titles, mini pets, and more..... I do not understand why people are so up in arms about displaying things other than destroyer weapons, all the HoM is for is an unlock in gw2. thats it. end of list. serves no function in gw1 AT ALL other than to look at.

Well, it still doesn't make sense that Torment Weapons don't count.

I'm not "up in arms" over it, I wouldn't say But it is a let-down. It just plain doesn't make any sense.

Yes, there are a lot of people who want to display non-Destroyer weapons, this is a game that we play to enjoy and this is a place where people go to to help make their game more enjoyable? The purpose of the HoM is not just for unlocking stuff in GW2 - it is for us to enjoy filling up in the game we're already playing, a 'quest' in itself that should be fixed because it simple doesn't make sense.

Granted, having 20 mini pets doesn't make any sense either, but that's not here or there.

From all that I've read, I don't think even Anet knows what they're going to do with the 'unlocking' and 'transferring' of anything to GW2. And if they do know what they're going to do, I think it's safe to assume that their current plans are probably going to be changed dramatically before the game goes live, which is a long way off. And then they'll probably change it again a month after GW2 has been out.

I'd like to point out that green weapons, rare skins, ascended armors and all that stuff serves no function in GW1 either, you can do the same stuff with basic max armors and collector weapons. Majority of GW is "non-functional" but many of us play PvE for things like storylines, questing and REALLY COOL LOOKING TOYS :P

And I'd like to fill my Hall to get that shiney light comin' down on my Monument of Honor because that would just rock. But for some unknown reason I have to get 10 more almost completely useless Destroyer weapons to do so, even though they don't have any impact on anything else. at all...

Anyhow... so no one has any updates on Valor? Bummer

The speculation that only destroyer weapons are allowed is this: The game engine is different from gw1(dx8-9) to gw2(dx10), btw this is a fact. The designers are trying to add in new content instead of reskinning every weapon in the game to render correctly in the new game. Also in fairness the the HoM is located in GW:EN and everyone has been givin the same amount of time to aquire the weapons, for both the casual and the hardcore gamers.

The HoM's only funtion is to unlock things in gw2, which in and of it self is a great deal to the loyal gw1 fans. How many other games have even attempted this? Every game I have played has been: next generation, you start over with nothing just like everyone else. I don't understand why players complain that specific items can not be displayed in the HoM , when they should be thanking A-net that anything that can be unlocked in the next game from the old 1.

Who sees the HoM? Only you and other people you drag into it. Sure there are more prestigious weapons than the destroyer weapons BUT I have yet to read "why can I not display my req7 crystalline sword", which is worth 1 of every single tormented weapon in the game.

As jagged of a pill as it may seem to swallow, I would not hope that other weapons will ever be allowed into the display of the HoM. There are many real in game issues that need addressed before this. Bugs, graphic anomalies, skill balance, holiday events, ect. and only with a few people working on maintaining gw1, I seriously doubt that non-destroyer weapons will ever be put in, even if it is purely visual and nonunlocking, it would cause confusion that is not needed around the time of the launch of gw2. Not to mention where does it end? what will be included and what will not?

I have a huge collection of green weapons for warrior/ranger, my first two professions. I must have spent about 1,000,000g overall on getting them. I have every green weapon for warrior/ranger in Tyria, Cantha and almost Elona, some from GWEN also. Most of them I customized to myself, because I am a collector of them. I feel that they have all been for a waste if I cannot put them in the hall of monuments because they cost a lot of gold. I can't exactly sell them either, only the shields because they are all customized. I think it would be good if I could put all my collection of green weapons in the hall of monuments so its not all been for nothing or arenanet can give me my 1,000,000g back, which I wasted on them, thinking I could remember them in Guild Wars 2!

Because (as Anet stated) the HOM was intended to reward those players who have been around for a while. A thank you for playing all this time and sticking with them.

We can display all our armor from all campaigns.
We can display all your titles from all campaigns.
We can display all your heroes and mini pets etc etc from all campaigns.

To then not be able to display a green weapon you probably saved up for, or farmed your ass off for from a previous campaign is a kick in the teath. How is that a full hearty "thank you"?

I would have thought armor and weapons are the most important thing to display and take pride in for the HOM!

Not to mention I personally have NO interest in any GWEN crafted weapons. I dont like destroyer weapons and I certainly dont want to wast gold and time saving up for them, purely to unlock something in GW2.

I have more important stuff to save up for.

Why not limit it to just GWEN armor and GWEN heroes and GWEN mini pets, if they limit the weapons to just GWEN?

It should either be game wide what you can display or GWEN based, not both!

there is like 10 or 11 spots on the monument. for 1 character. is my warrior supposed to craft destroyer mesmer staff, ele staff, monk staff to display ? My mesmer should have a destroyer bow, sword, shield, and paragon spear? Dumb.

/signed for green display, who cares what is in gw2, I doubt you are going to be able to take it out and use it, making static displays to render in GW2 of the various greens should not be supremely difficult..

no-one forced you to buy/customise them, did you really think you could display all 40(?) of them in the HoM?did you start collecting them before the you heard about the HoM or was that the sole reason you collected them?

Having most of the greens for 2 professions in the game is like a title, shoudl a guy that got drunkard say "i spent ages and i got a boring old statue? i want my money back" That person also had high expectations, adn was let down

i dont think greens should be displayed,..well maybe 1 green, but no more as alot of them are around 10k and that, and price can change verry fast with new buidls etc.

I'm still waiting on an update on this monument. It still gives "Only the greatest weapons may be displayed" when I add any of my unique (green) or endgame weapons. Even the greatest weapon of the entire game (Tormented, I have the staff) can still not be added.

Im pretty sure they know what they are doing with their game and how they are making the Monument work. Also many of the green weapons are pretty worthless and doesnt really make sense to go into the monument, I think there are better options before that

IMO they need to AT LEAST allow tormented weapons and such, if not other highly sought after weapons/shields. Maybe even go so far as to let you put in any weapon you used to defeat the final mission of X campaign... That seems reasonable to me. You still earn the right, and anyone can do it.

I got a Destroyer Maul, but because I liked the skin. I'm no tool, Anet.

I'm pretty sure endgame weapons (some of which you get by killing a god) deserve to be on the monument...

Unsigned for tormented weapon, people tend to forgot the whole duping event too fast imo. That y i think it is not in the valor, its a tarnished skin, and it would be a bad idea to add rewards to a KNOWN mass duped item. Not all duped armbraces were removed from game. Torment weapons are a tarnished skin in my eyes. I still own one, but it now a hero weapon because of what happened.
What good imo of the destoyer weapons is that they existed aftered the dupe event only, so they are untarnished.

I'd like to be able to display my greens. Maybe not even ALL greens, but just the ones from end game collectors in Factions, NF, and GWEN.

Of course, I'd miss my Rotwing Recurve Bow, then. I've carried my Ironwing Flatbow for so long, though, that even when I have more useful stuff with me it stays as a weapon set.

Personally I don't care if these things are transferred to GW2 or not. For GW1 I want my greens up there.

your point about greens is dumbest thing i have heard..in long time.

i can tell you now there are tons of greens that are worth heaps, and that players have spent weeks and months farming for them...maybe worthless to you..but they put the time and effort into it.

but by the time GW2 comes out, there will be new modelled weapons that everyone will want over old anyway.

I think what the community, or at least the forum players, would like to do is display there very own weapons even if it unlocks NOTHING....

If this is the case someone should start a petition for a weapon display rack to be unlocked when a player has ALL the destroyer weapons in the HoM, with a toggle option like the heros. The display rack could clearly say these weapons are for display only and will not unlock anything, hold 3 CUSTOMIZED items/weapons of whatever ya want to throw up there, and would still need to stay in your inventory. 3 sounds like an agreeable number otherwise it will blow way out of proportion and a once neat monument will turn into a pile of junk. It seems fairly easy to implement, but I'm not a programmer.....


I would find the quote but I'm lazy. It goes: The reason that destroyer weapons are currently the only 1's allowed in the HoM is the design team will not be reusing 2-3 year old skins in a brand new game. And every player has an equal opportunity to acquire them, meaning you don't need nightfall to display the weapon.
