So I'm on my Level 9 Dervish trying to gather the last 50 points for my First Spear title so I can advance and do the quest/areas for it and i'm in Cliffs of Dohjok and I ran into this Harpy Hatchling Boss which was around level 12 - 14 accompanied by two level 12 Harpy Skeer or whatever they were called. I have Koss & Dunkoro with me along with another healer. This battle lasted well over 10 minutes all the boss did was Orison of healing over and over and it just kept spamming it, I couldnt kill the boss or his two buddies, so after 5 minutes of trying to kill the boss and it's cronies I decided to focus on the boss for the rest of the time and eventually I guess it couldn't keep up with its healing but I finally defeated it.

Just thought I would share

Congratulations, may I suggest using some form of interrupt or maybe an anti-cast hex to make battles like that a bit quicker.

LOL! I think everyone has probably had this same experience. Man, this post made me laugh with the memory of that infamous battle! I think I just ended up giving up and running away.

Good times.

Multiple healers and healer bosses are quite annoying for new players without fulled decked out heroes.

Glad you won that tug-of-war.

Anytime posting on the forums turns into the battle of the day.

but seriously my battle of the day(even though it was last week) was in GWEN with that damn Disc of Chaos. That thing has ALOT of hp.

So there's you and 3 other monks in a 4 person party.

Am I the only one who sees the problem here?

Koss is a monk? I didn't know that.

My battle of the "day" was the other day. Running through Cathedral of Flames for the second time that day on my warrior in a conjure frost build and a couple PvE skills for defense...light of deldrimor for the undead, etc. Brought two monks, second monk brought ele hero. Said monk didn't bring condition removal...I kept being blinded by the ash phantoms so I was having difficulty fighting them...the first monk brought some cond removal but couldn't really keep up. Second monk said in passing that he didn't bring cond removal...I had some issue with that and said the tank/damage warrior should have his/her own cond removal. I asked what on earth would I bring for condition removal as a W/E other than purge signet that destroys my entire limited energy reserve that I need to fuel conjure, PvE skills and Hundred blades. well, said individual got pissy and left, on the first level.

Zoned to 2nd level after walking through the groups of undead before the portal and getting 30gp per hidden treasure chest(wtf anet? some people only got 7gp!), lost Zhed. Well, we fought our way with minimal losses, 6-man party with only one monk and me with very little self heal, and only "I Am Unstoppable!" as my defensive skill.

Middle of second level the Ranger went afk for a little bit so we were comparing gear and whatnot, skillsets, etc. I seemed to have impressed a couple people including the hammer warrior I was with so they were asking me what I used. I told them just offensive skills with the aforementioned shout..it's my equipment and the monk behind me that keeps me up. We got to comparing weapons, I showed off Murakai's Blade that I got the previous trip through and made the comment: "I got your blade bitch! Now I'm coming for your Reaver!" Had a little laugh at that...then moved on when we were all back.

Fought all the way to Murakai, excellent pulling and healing(kept getting spiked by enchanteds outside the boss key room...my bar looked like the low frequency bar on a stereo during a rap song) and made it to murakai...killed her before she could get her soul skill fully charged. I kept pressure on her and was the main target of consumption, and whenever she called her minions I hit them with LoD and Hundred blades and wiped them out. Did this about 3-4 times until she started kiting at 25% health...chased her ass down and put the hurt on her. Opened the chest...what do I get? Murakai's Reaver. booyah! I have the whole set now...and keep wishing the Maul wasn't just some cheap crappy Ivory Maul with a green name and a useless zealous mod.

That was long, but it was fun.

My best battle ever was my first engagement with the charr in the Northlands. Me and my woefully low leveled friend (we were both lv 3) kited back and forth (I discovered kiting for myself then) and threw what we could at the charr. After about 20 minutes, they were finally dead.

I remember capping Mark of Protection for some reason long ago, and we had hit one of the bosses in The Iron Mines. We were a pug of 8 people and 5 of us had died before we got to the Seer so we just gave up, and we went for it.

It took us a half hour...but I got it. Then again I was probably running some kind of terrible blood build with a bow (as an N/Mo)

Onarik is a forum regular, he probablly just misread it.

Anyway, yes multi monk bosses can be a pain. Ie, that stupid Magi the Magicbox boon signet boss in the Echovald surrounded by like 2 other monks is just... ugh... But gj winning. Learning target prioreity and about the value of some of the other ways to fight (hexes, interupts) is important.

I'd have to say my greatest battles were against a friend of mine whom I introduced to Guild Wars a while back. He quickly picked up the game and created great builds that are now being used by many, many people in all forms of PvP, GvG, AB, or RA. Suffice to say, he's probably exceeded my talent since he's really focused on the game.

But a few months ago, our talents were evenly matched, so he always asked me to help him try out a few builds. We only had 3 or so such encounters and the most amusing 1v1 we ever had was using our warriors. He was using a GB build and trying to spike me to death with final thrust and I was using an auspicious parry build with an interrupt skill thrown in for good measure. I eventually beat him, but the fight must've taken 10-15 minutes.

Mine had to be a while ago when i took a 4 man H/H team to do a quest in Kessex(sp?) Peak. When i got there i realised i had to wade through that mob of 40 or so monsters. At the edge of the cliff i came up against a group of 7 or so monsters with a boss. It took 5minutes for the first person to die!! Finally slaughtered them after 10mins, went on to pull a few from that massive mob.. and they ALL pull! Never been wiped so fast

If PvP counts, then i have one that'd beat it. Back in the day when you could have a whole heroway team in HA, i was running a holding build. In scarred earth, i was being wiped by this team who had tons of eles. Then luckily one of the other teams resigned and the victors came rushing to my aid We then ganked the ele team. This other team was all necro's (not b-spike / IV) but it took me ages to realise they were using an item spell to res And kept saccing one guy for minions. After 40mins of fighting, taking abuse, being told to resign etc, me and my computer controlled buddies finally got the kill on their hard resser / main healer xD At that moment, 2 left, another died and the other 2 ran. (back when it was 6v6) Took me another 20mins to track them down and kill, only to get pwned on relic run

Ah, good times..

Hey,
What a nice thread

Good Job there "Kaiser49"!

PvE: I guess the battle of "my life" in Guild Wars was against Mungri Magicbox that bonder monk boss in Ferndale (Factions) when I (in my early guild wars days) wanted to cap his elite with my monk and we didn't have heroes back then ... I was close to buying a ticket to Bellevue, Washington and start a personal argument with them about this

PvP: had to think of many but the most stupid and yet in my memory "glorious" ones was beating one of those "Double Echo - Shadow Form" griefers in HA by out waiting him for one hour after my whole team left ... the victory wasn't the final win against him but keeping him and his 7 fellows from playing his pathetic trick to others for over an hour on a double fame weekend (made me go to bed with a smile)

oh oh my battle of the day/gw history for me happened a few weeks ago, i was H/H frostmaws burrows and it took me about 3 hours to get to frostmaw herself (at 60dp from about level 3 onward) but thennn after clearing out her lair to get her to spawn, i was nearly party wiped, but i had tahlkora flagged just our side of frostmawa agroo and every time frostmaw went underground all the norn would rez. so between tahlk and those norn, they battled it out for about 10 mins befor tahlk was lucky enought to rez most of the party so we could deal the death blow to her.

My most memorable one was against Glint. I went in with a pug and at least half of us had never done the mission before. We had never fought Glint before and nobody really knew anything about her.

We had no interrupts with us. That battle took at least a half hour, but we finally prevailed. So, don't let anyone tell you it's impossible to beat Glint without interrupts. It's possible. Dang hard, but possible!!

My mission of the week would have been yesterday. After helping a guildie from Quarrel Falls to Aurora Glade(he didnt want to do primairy so it was a straight walk) I decieded it would be fun to join a 4/6 PUG as they were looking for a monk I'd convinced them to take my Rt healer.

The start of the mission wasnt that bad, we pretty much steamrolled over everything we encountered. But as many of you know, the difficulty in Aurora Glade isnt the bugs and tree's you meet in the beginning.

So this is what happened in the battle against the White Mantle:
I ask the group to walk to and defend the eastern shrine. I spammed some spirits there so I could run the shard from the start to there, effectivly keeping two bases for bonus. However my guildie (Dervish) decieded to charge into the White Mantle and fighting outside of spirit range. The rest of the group followed him and it became a slaughter. And since I wasnt back with the shard yet healing wasnt applied either.

This quick whipe lead to me vs the White Mantle Army. A quick thinker knows what to do next. Unless you have a GREAT solo build you're confinded to just leave the bonus and go for the 3 caps. Since the eastern shrine was still capped I could make a dash for the west one. then recap the south one(start) and then cap the east one again. For some odd reason the White Mantle were a bit sluggish. I managed to cap all 3 and my party was teleported by the cinematic into the last part of the mission.

The last part was another walk in the park, but I still wonder how I could have played this in a way that we would have made the bonus...

A good adventure non the less.

Most memorable would probably be the first time I ever did Abaddon's Mouth. The 2nd two bosses we had was the Willa-Sarlic Combo. Man they were hard to kill at the time, especially since I didn't know what was coming up. We did manage, eventually, to knock their health down and completed the mission. Second time round my Mesmer went through. GG Willa.

Yeah, I did.

The monk bosses I find the most irritating are the Mursaat ones.

Near-unlimited energy and constant spam heals and very high armor.
