Change /age command to display Birthday

I have 2 chars with 23 months, and another one with 11. But, that's the only info I can get with the age command. Everyday I login with all them just to see if they have the birthday present.

I think that the age command should also tell you the birthday of the character for helping players.

I know that my chars are sad because I don't remember their birthdays! Help me not missing it! :P

My char is 10 months old, but every day I check when it will be 11 months, then when I will get birthday present...

It gets frustrating durring that last month before a birthday, slowly watching the days tick away but seeing no progress when you "/age".

Write it down when you create a char, put it on the sticky note on your computer, make a wiki, a website, make a facebook entry, file it to INS, just don't ask Anet to manage YOUR personal responsibility.

Eh, what? Hell, why have an "age" command at all then?

Oh, wait, maybe because Anet wants to create a user-friendly game.

Seems like a simple enough request.

since I swear one of my chars is stuck at 23 months.

To Saphrium, I agree with what you said, but HOW many ppl write down this info? Not very many, since most ppl didn't know about getting b-day gifts. I didn't when I made my chars 2 yrs ago

Agreed with sky's response to Saphrium. Three of my characters were created back in the first year of GW, before there were minis. I didn't know there was anything special about the day of creation when I made them.

So it's our "personal responsibility" to know what day our character was made but NOT the same "personal responsibility" to know how many hours we've played on our account? Because we get one but not the other... Left hand, right hand.... Nope. You're clueless.

Saphirum, I'm not asking for anet any information for me. I'm asking that they display the information that they already have, because they have character's birthday stored in the database. They use that info to make Birthday presents.

I'm just asking for a minor change in one of their commands without any possible side effect.

it was a seperate cmd as in /birthday
with the date of creation and hopw many days left.

as i use /age alot in missions for time checks and it would get too cluttered imo

What about the characters that were created before anyone, including ANET, knew anything about the minipets ?

1. to Mordakai: /age is an Anet reminder for us to keep track of the "anti-casual" gaming habits+make the us feel better about ourselves.(Look I got this char to lvl20 in 3 hours)
2. to sky sliverwolf, bilateralrope: true that, and I didn't realize I can't get assassin skills nor assassin armors in prophecies either. By this logic, We probably should ask Anet to design armors and skills in prophecies to accommodate that aspect of backward compatibility too. Wait I actually have a better idea, how about making prophecies/god realms monsters drop spears and scythes too?

I really don't see the point. Here's the thing. Those Birthday presents are a surprise. I think it's neat that you can't see the month day hour minute second of a character's lifespan. Come on people, have some patience and enjoy a little mystery in your gaming experience.

This is what happens when you wiki too many things. The game becomes too mapped out and demands for everything in a neat organized pile begin. I still think back to the days when I only had Factions and never knew that a wikipedia for Guild Wars existed. Every time I logged in the game was fresh and interesting.

So to recap, just use the months as your timer. There's no true rush. Enjoy the suspense!

Lol, that's like saying that getting an wrapped present on your birthday is not a surprise. So, let's just forget all our birthday, so it is more funny!

No, the surprise is the pet you get, no the day at which you get it.

Not arguing, discussing. The thread should be all just a bunch of /agree's? I like a good discussion, it keeps things interesting.

However ANET did know that you wouldn't be able to get the skills/armors in prophesies. So I ask again, what about the characters created before ANET knew about the birthday minipets ?
Quote:

New armors would take quite a bit of work. However this thread is just asking for ANET to give the client a small piece of data they already have, then outputing that data in a human readable format.

In saying that, I'm always in favor of new weapon/armor skins.
Quote:

Would you want these FoW/UW weapons to use new or existing skins ?
New skins would take a bit of work to make, existing skins would just need adding to the drop tables. But apart from the work required, I'd have no objection.

/halfsigned. it would be good but i dont really think that there is no reason not too. isnt it sort of a nice suprise to see a present show up in your sorage . But i guess it is nice for those who just /age every two minites up close to the screen going "WHEN WHEN WHEN is my instant 20K here!!!" so they can measure their time betterr and not need to check so much. And i guess those who want a suprise could just not look at all.

Mr. Red Engine, I regret to inform you that your character doesn't actually exist and this is a video game. Not even our lives are this clearly mapped out...there are always variables in it that make things exciting. Why don't you just show some patience and you'll get your 5k minipet?

Yes, the surprise is what mini pet you get, but once again I'll say this: After looking at wiki for too long, the game loses its mystique. Instead of asking ArenaNet to map every little detail out for your mathematically hungry minds, why don't you just enjoy the time you spend logged on?

That's my final word on the matter, as well as my final post in this thread. Good luck.

True, the surprise is seeing which minipet you get. Knowing which day it will come will build the anticipation.

Either this or have a tab in some window or menu with information like day created and such. The Account tab in the Hero window doesn't have much on it so it can go under the stuff that's there already.

I literally checked my Monk daily at the 23-month mark to see when I got my present. I didn't play her, but I checked her, and relogged to a new character. Thankfully I actually got a decent pet. Its a good suggestion, if they have to the minute pinned down on how long you have been playing, I don't see why they can't add a simple 'day' line to the age of the character.

Why not simply add a birthday to the bottom of each character in the login screen? Even add the ability to sort by age. Just a thought.

I have two accounts that were both started right after GW release. They both have 4 characters past 2 years (for a total of 8 that are past 2nd b-day). Between both accounts it is a nightmare trying to track when a character will get a b-day present. I have 2 characters that are soon to hit 2 years, 8 working on 3 years now, and i think 3 that are working on 1 year.
Most were made before the "b-day presents" were ever incorporated so I had no idea to write down date of creation and all that. It would be great to be able to use /age on them and get their actual b-days so i could make a list.

I don't keep 1-2 year old sticky notes around, and I dont feel like the hassle to make a wiki, facebook or website, it would be easy enough to do.

And I wouldnt call it "personal responsibility" to keep something around to remind you how old your game character is.
