Hey all,
Well I'm new to all this, I've played WoW/Runescape for quite a while. I left WoW after 1 and 1/2 years of play and same with Runescape.
I knew about this game all along when I got into WoW, I've read up on it and it really grabs me. I'm just a tad confused what you do in this game? I haven't played it yet as I have no money to go out and buy it.
I heard there are Trial keys but haven't seem to find any.
So can someone help and break it down what there is to do in this game? Is it straight Questings/Instancing/Grinding, what is it?

You have a character
he / she has 2 professions , 1 primary and 1 secondary
You travel through a story do quests / missions in instances for between 4 - 8 players (you can substitute computer controlled heroes/henchmen for players if you cannot / do not want to , fill out a whole party
You gain experience from doing quests / killing monsters. As you gain experience you go up in levels (max 20)
levels give you more health and points to allocate to the attributes from your chosen professions (each prof has 4 or 5 attributes)
As you play you will collect skills , you can equip upto 8 of these at any one time
You will visit outposts where large numbers of players meet to form groups / trade but outside of these all areas are instances. - these outposts also contain NPC merchants , traders etc .....
You can travel instantly back to any visited outpost

The trial keys come out occasionally just before the release of a new game.
Also there are sometimes keycodes with the games to let a player give to a friend so they can try it out.
The game consists of 2 main game types pve player vs environment ai controled and pvp player vs player.
pve
starting in towns where you can meet and talk to other players.
Forming parties with other players or ai henchemen and questing on missions finding new towns collecting rare and common resources and finding new spells/skills earning titles.
pvp fighting other players singly or in groups and earning rewards and titles.

Many players who try GW after experiencing other MMOs don't immediately "get it." The level cap is low on purpose and you will reach it relatively early on in the game, though it varies by campaign. Getting to the max level is not a destination; rather, it is when the game actually begins.
Another potential shock is the limitations that the skillbar presents. At any given time a player can only carry eight skills (out of 1300-ish total), which forces him to strategize and plan more than other games might.
Lastly, this game is probably the least equipment-dependent MMO you will ever find. Statistically perfect weapons and armor are available to everyone at little cost; rare and/or unique appearance is what drives the market for these items.
To summarize, the initial mantra of the developers was to have as level a playing field as they could make and encourage players to innovate instead of focusing on making bigger numbers. Over time the game has deviated from that idea a little, but it's still worth checking out.

Well I managed to get trial keys for Factions/Nightfall/Propheices. I'm doing Factions at the moment and I'm a Assassin, what would be a good 2nd profession for an assassin?
I'm enjoying the game very much, I like the bot groups makes play a little bit easier.

I went for Assassin/Necromancer? Good combination or not?

That's actually what i used for my assassin when faction came out, worked out just fine for me. I think i used barbs

By the time your choice of a secondary class actually matters that much, you'll be able to change it and you'll understand the game a lot more.
As for enjoying the Henchmen, in GW: Nightfall, there are "Heroes" you can use which are basically henchmen whose skills you can choose and force/prevent their usage. You also have a lot more control over the AI hero NPCs use.

Thanks all for the responses. I've been told by another player that if you're on the Trial account after 10hours the account will dissapear is this true? I'm a level 10 now.

The account won't disappear but you'll be inable to play the game.

I believe its 10 hours play yes and there is a number of days limit too it should expire when either is passed.

But that doesn't mean you can't keep playing if you buy the game - and it seems like you're really enjoying yourself.
If I had an extra trial key, I'd pop one on over to you - but unfortunately I don't.

Well my Trial finished today. And I enjoyed the game throughly, I won't be buying it anytime soon as I have loads of college work todo. This game is great to pass time and have that real sense you're involved.
