I was looking at a few pages on mesmer armor in the wiki. One of the characters modeling the clothes had hair that I recognised from factions, but a face that when I checked, wasn't in my face options on factions, but looked like the one from Prophecies (spelling :|).
And even in the factions official Guidebook there is a girl and boy mesmer with Hair from factions and a face from Prophecies (in the boys case, hair from prof and a face from factions). I've checked the faces that I have on my creating character interface from every angle and they just arent the same.
Can you mix faces and hair from different campaigns?
And could someone explain why they've mixed the two together in the Guidebook and on the wiki.

No, we can't. Yes, I'd love to have that ability.

The ones on wiki for the armors are done by someone from Anet. So yes, the ability exists, just not for us folks.

Good question: I too wish this was an option. What would be better is to change any of the chars you currently have at will.

I would've been pretty nice if the new faces and hair were added to a collective pool with each Campaign other than the way it was done, but I guess that would take away from the character having qualities from its original area.

That would be a good idea but unfortunately it's not possible to do right now.

Believe me, this has been a sore spot for me for some time. Those images are created with prophecies faces and different hair, which is what so many of us have been begging for the ability to do so in a number of threads around here.

Clearly the technology already exists, or we wouldn't have images like these ones:

, and for me it made it even more tragic when we got that video about EOTN in which the dev said they would add extra character customization into the game. I'm sorry Anet, but where exactly is that customization you were talking about? They'd already mentioned the standalone armour pieces in another point, so I can only assume they didn't make the same point twice, just under a different name? As far as customization goes they brought absolutely NOTHING new to the table that the campaigns didn't already have. It's the first time that I have felt that GW advertised falsely.

In answer to your question, obviously SOMEONE out there is able to change their hairstyle, but not we players. It still gives me hope however that it will be added into the game at some point.
