...he should not count as being there in case of a wipe or /resign.

Yesterday we got wiped in the third level of a dungeon, but there was one player that lost his connection to the server an a safe area and he stayed alive, and we had to lie dead and wait 10 minutes for the game to kick him so we could res at the shrine and continue thowards the boss...

then reconnects could be exploited to never fail by simply pulling the plug when in trouble.

You have a point, there would be too many exploits, titles like survivor would become a synch.

Think of it this way

Same exact senario
but party has 60% Dp and the connection error is form a human monk near the end boss. the dis-connectee is in a safe spot.(If he does not count as being there, it counts as him dead,so full party wiped)

Hence just sending you back to the outpost while the monk could be reconecting as you speak.wasting an hour or 2

the majority of d/c are followed by a recon.
maybe after 4 min a vote may be ordered which requires 6/8 (6/7 active) to kick them.

I meant at isamu kurosawa, i dont get it how could this be exploited. And especially how would it affect survivor title?

Well, if you are playing with 8 people as a survivor, you could just 'disappear' when you get in trouble by pulling your internet cable out or something like that.

The rest of the team would keep on fighting and win or die and get sent back to outpost - Either way, your character is safe, cause he magically disappeared from the battlefield, avoiding all damage.

Another problem with this is that when someone gets a 'true' disconnect and he would 'leave the game' for a while, all of his items that dropped would become unreserved, and he would not get any drops.

People log out when theyre trying to get survivor and get into trouble. Why the heck would they pull their cables out, and when would they find time to do that...

Killing the GW process closes Guild Wars without sending the logout command- if you disappeared instead of sitting there that *would* make Survivor pitifully easy. Decline the reconnect and you're home free.

Except that he would still be taking damage in the minute or two between when his connection fails, and the server realises that he is gone. And even after the server realises that he isn't there, he is still on the map taking damage. So this won't help the survivor.

Its just that if someone is disconnected and is the last person alive, the res shrines shouldn't require the party to wait for him before they res.
