[Luxons] and [kurzicks] ... Why the hate?

Because the only place where you can get away with flaming and trashtalking is AB.
Before the report function, I loved to shout random phrases and see how the other team would react to it.

I spent 2 entire AB sessions fading it out with chuck norris jokes and facts before anet used its ultimate judgement on me.... Error 7

For some people, it's just harmless trash talking, like calling out that pack of musclehead scholarship-whoring retards playing football at USC.
Other people actually believe it, and they're idiots.

It kills me when they yell "Are you Kurzicks/Luxons so scared to fight us?" when they are just miss the first 30 sec of queue time.

Yeah it's kinda like going to Medieval Times, if anyone's been there. Or a wrestling event and booing for the bad guys, even though you still get their autographs afterwards. But I can see that some people take it really seriously. I even recieved a guest invite from someone to challenge me to a one on one PvP thing and sending me aggressive whispers. It was like online road rage. I hardly even said anything in local chat during the battle.

On a related note, I ran across an old friend today from playing Fort Aspenwood, and we talked about other old faces from there. I'm glad I don't play much AB, because it doesn't sound like people are remembered as much or people switch sides as often.

I don't encounter too much Luxon-Kurzick hate. What I have noticed though, more and more, are Assassins swearing at people and calling them Cowards for kiting. Seems to be happening more these days...though there seems to be an increased number of assassins, to both sides. It's not Alliance Battles any more, its Assassin Battles.
SotiCoto
Whenever I've AB'd (not so much these days), I've tried to discourage that kind of language on the Kurzick side. It really is unnecessary, but it is part of the same general mind-set that turns PvPers in general into aggressive, confrontational arseholes.
More often than not though... my "Hug a Luxon" project, involving trying to get everyone on the Kurzick side to be kind and supporting to the Luxons.... usually either falls on its face completely, or results in a LOT of patronising going on. The latter, at least, is amusing......
Okokok... so I actively encourage Kurzicks to be patronising rather than childishly offensive.
But that'd only be because the Luxons turned to a life of piracy because they never had healthy, stable, loving homes to grow up in... and it is better to encourage them to reform than to chide and attack them for all that has happened to them.

people who take this seriuosly should go see a doctor
it's one thing to joke other to plainly hate and curse the players on the other side because of some game faction

Now dont get my wrong, i am no hater of assassins (or kurzicks, really), i'm a hater of the people that play the profession. The emotes after the 1,2,3,4,5 combo and the verbal taunts are what really nibbles at you.
I'm sure if they disallowed lead attacks, off-hand attacks and dual attacks from being placed next to each other in the skillbar, things would be different .

It doesn't change.
It is the bastion of stability.
And it is cannon-proof. ^_^
Come on Luxon. We know you want a blue cape really. You're just afraid of being rejected again. We Kurzicks won't do that though. Family is important to us.

Whenever the Luxons are winning and they are getting happy about beating us, I politely explain my theory for this. It's that so many Luxons are tired of losing so they join the Kurzicks hoping to start winning. But because they are former Luxons, thus bad at AB, the effect is that they hold us back in battle so sometimes we lose. Boy that really gets to them heheheh.
silara_jorinset
I just find the whole "OMG Kurzicks are mobbing, all they do is mob" stuff like its the ultimate strategy quite funny. If people would avoid it and cap rather than charging at it, its an easy win.. In terms of Kurzick/Luxon rivalry I don't take it seriously, more a fun roleplay thing at the start of an AB "e.g. Turtle loving scum, how dare you invade the echovald!" (followed by gl, hf )

Then again, since I've discovered how to Luxon FFF and made a thread about it in the farming board, the gypsy-pirates don't have any excuse not to do it now.

"ZOMG SUXON HAXER!!"
And one thing, it always seems to be the Kurzicks with bad manners when I AB. Like if we lose, we say gg and get over it, Kurzicks go physco at us, but that's probably because I play with my guild.

Afterall, I saw exactly the opposite: a whole load of abuse from Luxons.
After a while watching though, I saw it was about equal on both sides of the board.... and for that matter I WAS spending my time trying to get the Kurzicks to be nicer to the Luxons.

Although Im always bashing sins... there are quite a few skilled ones out there (that can regularily and easily whop my ass ) who know how to work in a team and are polite.... so not every sin=retard.... but seemingly 90% retards are sins

Erm, I mean, I'd prefer AB to FFF...there's something oddly addictive about monking in AB.

You know, if it wasn't for the random insults that players from each side throw at each other I'm pretty sure that the Great Houses and the Armadas would have agreed to a ceasefire and drawn up a peace treaty by now
But where would the fun in that be?

For the most part, people in general (no matter what age) are immature, rude, and sore losers. Even the most mature players occassionally sink to the level of everyone else in AB (and various other places). I know I've gotten into my fair share of AB 'harrassment', but I normally simply can't resist the smartass remark that pops into my mind after someone says or does something really stupid; its just how I am. ^.^
Some of the time the comments are ment in good fun, most of the time it's simply because people tend to be overly competative. They feel their side is better, they're pissed because they are losing, or they might just be an asshole plain and simple. If it bugs you too much, just turn off local chat. I simply enjoy watching the stupidity because I get a good chuckle.

Actually what I miss the most are comments durign the fighting such as "n1" or "lol" (in a friendly fassion such as you were just surprized by a second player comming in behind you) or even "nt".
I throw them out every now and then if I just lost or won a particularily hard and evenly matched fight... but I never saw anyone else typing these simple 2 or 3 letter abreviation remarks. In the end its just a game and you have to tremember that real squishies (humans) are sitting in their rooms doing the same as you are.
@ Sotico yea, 90% sins and 50 % Wammos (never said these morons are any good at maths )

Well... that and the lack of Critical Agility.

I am in the alliance that owns HzH and it's usually the little 12 year olds that make those comments. Sometimes it just makes me roll my eyes. They go as far as calling people traitors if they've switched sides before and say that Kurzicks should "own the whole land." It's seriously embarrassing that people actually say that shit...
When I AB though, I poke fun at everyone, including teammates. There is always that one person who says something stupid that I just take the opportunity to jump on.

In my humble Kuzik Opinion, Kurzik pawning Luxon has always been the law of the universe since the creation of faction, you just gotto assume the ROLE YOU ARE PLAYING in a ROLE PLAYING GAME. out side of the game who care if you are Kurzik or luxon. I probably would have drinks with the players if I knew them in real life.
PS: Rank 5 Kurziks here. hoping to get to the top soon.
The funniest time in AB is when you are winning and mobbing, mobbing = good, when you are loosing because luxon is mobbing, mobbing = bad

I guess it's just natural to thing your side is the best. But it's rather funny sometimes. And I love it when people try to kill me for revenge, and fail of course.
I love it when you advertise WoW to us in all your posts [/sarcasim] But really, I have nothing against WoW, but if I wanted to know about it, I'd go to a WoW forum.

Without taunting and such this game would be boring. Taunting and verbal stompage is more fun than the battle itself. I mean you can read the rage in their text after you've mastered them in battle or even in a word battle. Nothing more fun to me than calling out a sin to solo fight away from everyone and proceeding to stomp them all silly. Nothing more fun than watching every skill they try to do get interupted and I'ma necro hahaha I stomp so many sins and warriors and dervishers and paragons and eles and other necros daily it gets mind boggling at all the deaths that tally up. Only time i die is when they gang up on me. Not a one can take me solo though of those classes I mentioned. Rangers and Mesmers can still be a challenge because of their interupts.

It's old fashioned rivalry. It can't be helped. People get worked up while competing against the "other" side, and admittedly take things a little too far. It's been happening for decades in RL, with sport etc. It's not that you want to be mean to the other team, but it's because you have to.
I support the rivalry 100%, if it's good spirited that is.

For example, when fighting a team in RA, I commented on one ele on the other team by saying "nice flashbot." The ele proceeded to saying, "QQ more noob." Umm... right. Seriously, I've seen that happen a lot. When people insult you for complimenting them, you know they have issues.

the idea of making Kurzick/Luxon in the first place was teh biggest mistake tehy ever did, neutral guys hate it and the rest are 10 yr old guys having seriously problems
