I noticed that Onyx Gemstones can now drop from the hidden chests found in dungeons, although I'm assuming that the drop rate is somewhere around the drop rate for ectos. I was wondering if there is an equal chance for onyx to drop from hidden chests regardless of what dungeon you're in, or if there is a higher drop rate in some of the more difficult dungeons.

I know that some dungeons have more hidden chests than others, but is the drop rate the same per chest? Thanks in advance for any responses!

I think all the dungeon chests can drop them, well the easy ones do anyway :/. Cool that they can drop from the hidden treasures though, wonder if they are worth going for... O_o

I got several onyx gems from hidden treasures through my exploring, but the chance is indeed very small. Still, Light of Deldrimor is a must for me if I'm dungeoning :]

Think they have a chance of dropping from any dungeon chest. Except that diamonds are much more likely to drop.

Yeh, onyx do drop from hidden treasures in dungeons now. I found "a hidden treasure!" in Frostmaw's Burrow ... it dropped 30 gold for me and an onyx gemstone for my hubby. >.<

Onyx dropped from Hidden Chests already before the update
Seen it happen (to a guildie - i'm just not that lucky)!

Edit:

OP meant chests found from the Light of Deldrimor skill, not the End-Dungeon chests. I think.
In case this was meant in response to my post, let me clear up that by Hidden Chest i mean the free chests revealed be the Light of Deldrimor skill.

I got a Ruby from one. Never had an Onyx though.

Not that I'd want an Onyx anyway.... They're useless for anything but Destroyer Weapons, most of which are butt-ugly besides.

I had an Onyx drop from a hidden treasure long before the update. I don't even really see a difference in the drops since the update. 38 gold? wow sweet.

Actually the drops from the chests on the 1.th lvl. of dungeons seems worse (like the 38 gold you mention) - but from lvl's after the first, drops seem better to me. Have seen several gemstones and rare crafting materials drop from them lately. And the money is between 100-200 gold from these as well.

I suspect they have nerfed the 1.th lvl. chests after finding out that they were farmable. That would explain it! (just a theory - mind you!)

Why you suppose I get people with Light of Deldrimor to come with me into Frostmaw's Burrows.... but don't bother on 2-floor dungeons?

Nice, thanks for the help. I did mean chests found using LoD, BTW. I noticed a lot of people mentioning Frostmaw's Burrow as a place for onyx...is that one of the easier places to farm onyx?

Chest of woe....1 onyx guaranteed and chance of a second. 3-floor dungeons(Easiest is Cathedral of Flames) have a good chance...and all dungeon end chests have a chance of one dropping.

Prices are dropping pretty quickly on onyx though so you can probably just buy them if you feel the need for a Destroyer weapon.

Well, since I have to finish the dungeons still anyway, I might as well try to get a few on my own before I resort to shelling out 5k per onyx. Plus, it's more fun when you get one for free.

Without any farming, just completing all the dungeons and storyline, I ended up with 15 of them, most/all were likely from end chests.

So they are pretty easy to get by, if you're interested into getting destroyer weapons.

But I wouldn't go as far as to say they are easy to farm.

Dungeons on HM would likely be a better way, if you can handle them fast enough.
