New PvE Skill [Provoke]
CHunterX
Provoke:
Shout. Target foe and all adjacent foes turn their focus to you for 5...9 seconds.
5 Energy - 20 Second recharge
Link it to Sunspear or some PvE title and make it a common skill, so any class can use it regardless of Job combination. Would be pretty great to make it shout different things above your head when you used it, like Air of Superiority. Suggestions? Too overpowered?

In other words: A skill to guarantee that even the most incompetent tank can grab all aggro in earshot for 9 seconds. In those 9 seconds, the team's nukers surely cannot fail to wipe out the enemy.
So yes, it sounds pretty overpowered to me...! Not to mention it would reinforce the tank-nuke-heal Holy Trinity, and make certain professions even less likely to get into a PUG.

it would allow other, less-used classes like Dervish, Assassin, and Paragon to get up closer to the battles without risk of causing the aggro to break |
Paragons? Make sure you understand why paragons are absurdly overpowered, and why they work best with anything except holy trinity.
There are no tanks in GW. Obs Flesh tank is best ran on an ele. OF warrior is a gimmick - along with crit barrage sins and fast casting mesmers. They exist because there's so many wammos PUGging who couldn't fight their way out of a wet paper bag, let alone think of being useful as damage dealers. amd that's the only way they can get into a group.

This doesn't mean the mobs won't run from things like Firestorm in Hard-mode |

Screw that.
Better idea: Binding Ritual / Nature Ritual
Make a spirit at current location that draws the aggro of every enemy within range and gains 20 health for every skill or attack targetted against it. This spirit dies after 30 seconds.
(Drop Destruction, then this baby, then drop Spirit Rift on top and watch the fireworks... or stick Edge of Extinction nearby for extra fun)...

just an FYI, the OP stole this idea from FFXI (Final Fantasy 11 Online). I"ve played GW and FFXI for 2.5 years now.
I do think the battle system in FFXI is superior to GW with provoke and such, but to the OP : Guild Wars skill and battle system is set up in such a way that "Provoke" would not adapt into it.
Hissy is right, but not just the "holy trinity"... any job with AoE would suddenly become supremely overpowered with provoke added. Don't get me wrong, my ele is my favorite character to play and she is 2.5 years old. I am someone that remembers the "old AI" where a ele could reign death and destruction from the sky and the idiot mobs would stand in it and die. I didn't like it as there wasn't much challenge. I used to go into Sorrow's Furnace with my fire ele and take 1 prot monk and 1 water ele and we could clear Sorrow's just the 3 of us farming for greens. That was NO CHALLENGE. Now if you took that same build into Sorrow's you would get your @$$ handed to you. Things are more challenging now with the improvements to AI in mobs and in hero/henchies.
With provoke it would go back to our ele's being godly and there being a lack of challenge in PvE (therefore boring).
Since you took "Provoke" from FFXI, think about the Black Mage in that game (equivalent of GW ele) and how much more limited he is in AoE than eles. If you are going to put Provoke in you would HAVE to add "hate" just like in FFXI as well so that if the ele over nuked they would steal hate and get pwned. If they changed it that much you might as well be playing a FFXI clone. No thanks. I like FFXI for what it is and I like Guild Wars for what it is.... don't make them the same game. The only thing GW needs that FFXI has is an auction house, but they have already said "never gonna happen".

and btw, if it just effects adjacent enemies, its not a shout, more like a skill.
tenshi_strife
shouts can affect targets and adjacent, look at [skill]"fear me!"[/skill] and [skill]"its just a flesh wound."[/skill]
as for op, yea no, if you wanna tank you have to be smart and pull aggro and watch aggro, you just want a tanking for dummies skill and gw does not need that /notsigned

My Aggro-Spirit still seems like an idea born from the spawning pool of awesome.

Actually, doesn't "Save Yourselves!" almost do this anyway? It gives everyone in the party (except yourself) +100 armor... leaving you as the weakest target, and therefore the enemy's #1 priority. Or am I missing something?

Anyways... on topic... GW does not need tanking made easy. Good tanks know how to get aggro and it takes coordination (or leeroying ahead) to make it work. If you want skill-less aggro management go play another game pls.
bungusmaximus
Bad idea, it's either overpowered (earshot range) or redundant (adjacent range). And tanks are baed lol.

Alpha baby, 1993.
Simpsons already did it.
