Killing the Great Destroyer in Hard Mode: A Guide
Trueslash Noobfoot
Now as you may now know, people are starting to wonder in fact, 'How the hell do I kill the great destroyer in HM???' This is THE guide to owning the Destroyer in Hard Mode. The concept is that while us players only do KDs, the 'ownage boss' just almost literally kills itself. The proper idea is that with Pain Inverter and KDs (and interrupts), the Boss would just kill itself with Enraged Blast not directly however, but via Pain Inverter..
My skills (Can use any knockdown skills, just need Pain Inverter and SnowStorm):
Smooth Criminal (Not really needed but I used it anyway. Can be swapped for a KD)
Shove (Needed for KD)
Distracting Blow (Same as a KD)
Sever Artery (Again, can be swapped for a KD)
Snow Storm (To kill the Destroyer of Lives)
Pain Inverter (Vital part to the concept)
Healing Signet (Pretty much explanatory.)
Any hard res.
Attributes:
r5 Dwarf (My stats)
r3 Asura (ofc gets better with better rank)
Heroes Me and my Friend used:
2 Touchers
3 Monks (One WoH, LoD Holy Haste and a Glyph SoR)
1 BHA
Notes:
You need two people for this. Preferably both Warriors but just bring KDs.
Strategy:
Ok, enter the mission. When you go in get the destroyer of lives outside your aggro circle (the nearest one) and keep snowstorming + pain inverting him, should be dead pretty soon. Then go back. The idea is that while you are clrearing the area of Destroyers, you go back to your 'checkpoint' so you don't actually die in flames. Then do the same for the left side. Once you do that, time to move onto the Great Destroyer him/her/itself. Go back to the checkpoint (the bit before the lava) and heal up. Initiate a code before you actually fight the Great Destroyer. This is mine:
When I say 1, Player 2 (my guildie) would use his KDs (hopefully after Pain Inverter).
When I say 2, Player 2 (my guildie) would use Pain Inverter.
And it carries on.
While this is happening, just use skills and whatever to damage this pathetic noob you're killing.
Well done! You've destroyed the Great Destroyer in Hard Mode! *round of applause*
Notes: I'd just use a Staff for Pain Inverter and a Sword for actually using Sever Artery. The professions that can knock down (or interrupted) are:
Warrior
Elementalist
Mesmer
Ritualist(?)
P.S.: Good luck on this one. Not easy to master but me and my guildie completed it on the first go. At first I wasn't bothered, but my courage and determination (and roughed-up leadership) got me through this toughie.
Oh yes and credits to:
The Great Destroyer - I know, he should be dead already, but he inspired me to make a build to kill him over and over and over again :P
Anet - making this fantabulous game which I loved all the way through.
Me - making this guide.
You - Reading my guide.
Last but not least, Omar Renswar, for encouraging me

I did this over the reputation weekend and all I did was flag Heros and henchmen on him and cast Pain inverter, no other skills needed really
Trueslash Noobfoot
yea. Although my methods are rather... unorthodox, they work well and therefore I posted it on here to help you guys out. Helpful, yes or no?
Malak Revan
I was getting ready to add that thank you for the guide, it will help
Trueslash Noobfoot
thanks mate
Steboy93
Nice guide, i did this on double point weekend to get 15k rep points
Good skills for the warrior to bring are brawling headbutt, d-slash and for great justice, so you can just hit FGJ and cycle betwwe b-headbutt and d-slash to keep him perma kd'd.

Trueslash Noobfoot
o yea... that's another thing. Might add that when I get time You want him to use Enraging Blast though to damage himself, not perma-KD.
Steboy93
Yeah i know, i kinda meant you can kd him whenever you like.
Oh a handy skill to use is frigid armour, it prevents burining and gives +armour.

I'd never use Frigid Armor on my warrior. Not if you slit my throat and beheaded me but then i cant use it :P
Niila
1 Pain Inverter
2 LoD:s
2 LoD:s

What ru talking about? :|

I didn't get Pain Inverter yet. So I just use the same tactic that I used in NM and it still work. Monk heroes bond me and I go "solo" him with Grenth's Balance. I'm a W/N but I'd imagine other profession would work too, might take a bit longer or faster depend on your build. My W/N take about 5 minutes, give or take, I didn't really timed it :P

Also easy /w a friend:
Human: Pain Inverter /w Pet
Human: Pain Inverter /w Pet
6x Henchies: Rangers and Monks /w Pets, 1 With Broadhead
Go down the left side, killing the destroyers. When at the great destroyer, flag your henchies next to him, use broadhead, and win in 2 moves.

In my case, basically, Jagged MM, 3 Pain Inverters.
Surely Dead.

Going back to the land seems likw a waste of time. Just kill the 2 destroyer of lives on the way then go straight for the great destroyer. With breath of the great dwarf and extinguish, burning will be nothing.
Marverick
Meh I don't even have Pain Inverter and he was a pushover; can't be bothered going through all of those damn Cipher quests, where the hell do you find those things anyway..
Shelter + Recuperation + Recovery makes him pathetic.

Maybe at one time but since the nerf which allows spirits to burn it makes spirits useless in there as they burn down too quick.

WOW ONCE AGAIN making something harderr then it really is all you need is half way good players i use a lod/prot monk with a couple of other healers and a eco extigsh monk (only 4 skillz on his skill bar ) echo extigish paininverter and breath of the great drawf) (well besides a rez ) then you bring damage that it he not hard never was never willbe if your having issues beating him you fail at this game

HM is easy enough to Hench/Hero. Just bring Sab's necro hero builds, Mhenlo, Lina, Zho and Lo Sha. I used Ursan Blessing for myself. Just kill all Destroyers of Lives and then Great Destroyer, went down in approx. 2 min.
Abedeus
Extinguish is 1 second cast and costs 15 energy. BotGD costs 10 energy and is 1/4 second cast.
Btw, a guide isn't really needed... With 2 players swapping Pain Inverters, you can kill him in just 30 seconds...
Aegis + Shelter + Recuperation + Prot Spirit on tank > Great Destroyer HM.

eeh, LoD and spoil victor + couple of interrupts? the hardest thing for me is flagging nub hench from island to island tbh. Oh GOD i hate these super-mario missions ><
Trueslash Noobfoot
I'm just posting what I found best ^_^
william1975
have no real problems with hm on this, using 6 heroes and one other person, myself taking pain inverter seems to work, but of course any help to the larger community is a good thing

END OF STORY :S if you wanna troll someone do it in real life. MMOs aren't for flaming people because they did something wrong, they can work out what's wrong and fix it. Mate, it's called LEARNING. >_> like I learned how to use this build correctly.

IMHO Primary Necros wouldn't be the top choice for this mission since there aren't enough deaths to make SR that useful.
Personally I've found that a 4 healers party (H/H), one condition-giver (I played as a cripslash/gash W), interrupt (Zho), hex'er (Lo Sha) and one ... something else ... will be enough. Don't even need to run back to non-burning area every two kills.
Oh and frigid armor is your friend

No not really. I'm one of the more serious players (and in this case more grammatically-correcting.)

Pain Inverter, Interrupt. Sit back and watch the self-ownage.

Yeah LoD, pain inverter and SV and this guy drops like a stone. Anyone else disappointed with this end boss? I thought he was the worst of all the campaigns.
BlackSephir
Yep, he sucks as big bad boss. He's too easy and has no personality
The way I see it
Lich > Shiro > Abaddon > Great Destroyer
Somehow nowadays devs think that bosses should only be big guys throwing even bigger fireballs... which is wrong.
