Waiting to steal drops

ok so today i did a PUG for lb/ss farm (first mistake) but at the end i was the only one with no golds. so they open the boss shrine and we kill hauseh the defiler, at the same time my mom accidentally cuts herself. so i leave the comp to go help her out. long story short hauseh dropped 2 golds for me, one was elite necro tome and while evry1 else left 1 guy waited out and took my elite necro tome and the other gold. it has also happened to me before with a icy dragon sword when i was testing a build and went with a group. so here's my question, do you guys wait it out and steal the drops or let ppl keep what's assigned to them?

But really, this is nothing new. We have a pretty dismal evil community in game. Finding an honest helpful player is like getting a good gold drop... I will let you finish that thought.

I can't figure out why you'd want to hang around for the 5+ minutes it takes to clear the drop... in that time, I can kill more things and stand a chance of getting my own decent drop.

...It took you 10+ minutes to do whatever in real life? Then you obviously have bigger issues.

I have done this before. I then spammed the guy constantly until he came back, and I delivered the items back to him just so someone less honest than me wouldn't steal. I did this mainly during the last festival with the presents.

Anyway, if people scam in pre to get the black dye drops of noobs, and people rip 500g off a person on a fake Droks run... or steal accounts... this surprises you?

I guess you could call me one of those gold drops then because I never steal other people's drops like that. It's pointless to wait around for 10 minutes over a block of gold text in a video game when it doesn't even really belong to you.

And I've only had this happen to me once... you know who you are...

The other way to look at this is that the person, after waiting all that time, may have assumed you were not coming back.

5 minutes is a long time to go afk in a mission, and its a safe bet that if someone does, they won't return. Even if they say ahead of time that they will, often after that much time they won't.

If you don't pick it up after 10 minutes you SHOULD lose all rights to it, you're simply being neglectful.

You walked away from your PUG for over 10 minutes. This is why I don't PUG.

I remember when this used to happen a lot, in tomb of primeval kings.

there was this necro character who keep causing other players to die whom we all thought (the other 7) were a noob. at the end he refused to ressurect us took away my victo's axe. and all other available greens belonging to other players lol not that I needed the axe, I still have 3 victo's axe that my heroes are using now. but %#@$#%$%@%$ thats also kinda why I like heroes/henchies more.

The way I see it, is if the guy needs the gold so bad then he can have it.

Wait, so you guys decided to take on a boss and just as the fight got going your mom cut herself and you had to C-Space and tend to her? If that's the case, then I don't really think he did anything wrong.

If you helped, but had to run out before he was totally dead, then yeah, the guy was jerk, but technically not in the wrong.

I personally wouldn't have done it. In fact I've camped an item for people so I could get it before the greedy assholes in the group got it then tell em to meet me later to get it. Or Leeroy a group to try and get the other person ressed so they can pick it up themselves before it's too late.

Regardless, whether it's right or wrong is a matter of opinion.

yeah w/e, next time i'll purposely go "afk" for 9 minutes 59 seconds then go pick up my drop and make the next guy look like a jckass

i wouldn;t wait around for 10 mins to get some measly gold drops, i have better things to do. Also just because someone has to attend to something important doesnt give anyone the right to go and take their things.

an analogous situation here would be if someone leaves theri home unattended for 10 days because of a family crisis and doesnt get back until 11 days later does that give everyone on their street the right to take everything from their house on the tenth day?

It's not stealing. Drops get assigned for a reason. You were simply AFK. That's the problem. If drops are not being grabbed withing the really reasonable assignment time they are just free for anyone to get.

You surely did the right thing by addressing the real-life thing first, but don't complain afterwards.

I am responsible for only myself in the game, and I pick up everything that drops for me. If I do not have room, I make room. It is not my responsibility to make sure everyone else picks up his loot. If something serious had happened which forced the player to leave long enough for the item to go unassigned, he has better things to worry about anyway besides that black dye or that elite tome.

I hope you are not serious about this.
