Will Guild Wars stop updating onces Guild Wars 2 is launched?
what i want to know is
1) This is it? EO:TN is it? the end?
2) Will there be future expansions for Guild Wars?
3) Will you buy more, if there are more stories, skills and explorable areas/maps, dungeons, profession, new heroes to obtain added to Guild Wars in the future?
4) Will there be more festival celebrations with new mysterious gifts (ie mask). Will you still log-in for the festival celebrations?
i for one will still be playing GW1 for a long long long time to come, kinda hope it will keep on going.

GW will continue on for many many reasons. ANet would like to keep selling two games rather than just one being the biggest reason.
And, what most do not stop to think about ... if GW2 has greatly improved graphics then it is not going to run on a lot of the older computers that will run GW. Further, will GW2 run on dialup or is broadband going to be required?
GW's player base has a lot of computers that will just barely run GW. They will probably not be able to run GW2 at all. So GW will stay stay quite active I'm thinking.

ANet has stated the following since they announced GW2:
1. GW1 servers will continue as long as there is a player base. I don't see them stopping the annual events as, at this point, they are already in the programming and only require a new start/end time each year.
2. There are no "planned" expansions. That does leave the door open for future additions of various kinds. I'm sure it will depend on how the market stands.

Most of the op's questions have been answered but only Darcy touched on one. If anything goes wrong to delay the release of GW2, or if the sales of Eye of the North are really good they will more than likely put out another expansion. The first reason is that they would want to keep as much of the original player base playing to help GW2 and if the wait is to long they may lose to many players because of the time. Also, lots of sales and lots of people playing Eye of the North would show ANET that people liked the expansion and a second one would be good for the game and for business.
