The disarming skill.

Assassin will stab someone's hands.

Elementalist can burn the weapon so that its boiling hot that you have to drop it.

Warrior twist someone's wrist.

Mesmers make the weapons seem to become a snake or something that the wielder will drop them.

Necro uses some soul twisting mind bending skills that will fall under soul reaping that makes the wielder drop the weapons.

monk will chant something to make the wielder regret kill so many people that they drop the weapon out of guilt

dervish swipe their scythe to steal the weapons

paragon shout (a very loud one) that sends a wave length that shock the weapons to fall.

finally ritualist will send a spirit to steal the weapons.

i think it would be fun to have a skill like this.

imagine you are fighting fighting fighting, suddenly you find yourself fighting bare hand.

off course, you do not loose your weapons, it'll just be disable and you will find your character without a weapon for a duration of 120 second or a suitable time frame.

Eh..why?

Thats a terrible idea

Thatd make any profession that depends on weapons (which is pretty much everyone besides some ritualists) completely screwed.

It is a terrible idea, and we have exhaustion, deep wound, weakness and blind to cause the same effects that this would introduce.

And its just a terrible idea.

everything your character hold to fight in my opinion is a weapon

stripping players of weapons is potentially deadly in my opinion, it strip aways the +30hp, the +20 enchantments, et cetera. its >< that much closer to winning and loosing a fight.

winning the fight is basically "screw the other party"

hehehehe, i think stripping players of armor is kinda fun too hahahahahaha.

Ok and a group of sins who attack MUCH faster then most others jumps on you keeps you weaponless and eats your party alive. As I play a sin, sure why not.

~the rat~

Please not that this post is sacrasm, I do not condone the use of disarm or other semi to totally retarded skill ideas. thank you.

Umm sins attack at the same speed as sword and axe warriors Legion.

But yeah, those skills are pretty unneccesary.

What I am thinking is player will find themselves not having a weapon in their hand, when you don't have a weapon, your weapon attributes will all be lost for the duration of the time you are disarm. You have to fight bare hand and inflict minimum damage to your opponent.

Rangers will need their pets to do this deed for them, I think I'll name the skills Fetch, the pet will go to the enemy and disarm them.

the idea behind this is to reduce the damaged done by the character who are being disarmed and the enemy can inflict damaged on them more effectively while their health/enchantment and what not is at the most vulnerable.

same thing goes for dis-armor your enemy.

note that your weapon will not be lost from that, nor will you find your character naked. lol its simply lowering the protection your character have. how much protection is lost regarding armor, depends on how effective you launch said dis-arm attack. so beside the activation time of the skills, the duration of your enemy being dis-arm will depends on your experience in disarming enemy, the more you disarm enemy the more effective the skill will be.

me make grind skill :P

Um, stupid... Whats the point really? All this would do is make everyone play as a spellcaster and render warriors, assassins, dervishes, paragons and rangers useless...

There is no possible constructive feedback on this other than "change it entirely".

Such concept is foreign and inapplicable to the premise behind Guild Wars combat mechanics.

As such, the community at whole and large, has deemed it not only unsuitable, but has expressed complete disdain over such proposition, whether with ill or well meant intentions, but the manner in which said expression took place, should be indicative enough over unsuitability of proposed idea.

Actually arena net already have the dis-armor skill included in Eye of the North. I must have miss it. Its called Cracked Armor. Happy Days!

Now that I read it, is almost the same thing but affecting the weapon that players are using.

Terribly bad for weapon users.
Not a really great deal for casters...

Oh... wait... just like Weakness.

No need for disarm, then.

I'm a warrior and I just lost my sword! Oh no, what can I do now?!

[skill]Skull Crack[/skill]

Screw weapons. I've got fists wrapped in steel.

It's a neat idea, but this late in the game it wouldn't be very wise to add an entirely new cog into the clockwork. Like others suggested, just use skills that disable other things...you've got the daze condition, attacks that disable skills, blocks, misses, and so forth.

....so really only casters can attack......
....and melee class is useless.....personally the mesmer skill "Empathy" does this but way better, take damage on attack, so they can

A. Attack and give more work to monk,
B. Run around senseless
C. Get it removed

+ 8 casters going into an 8v8, they jsut need to cast that and they have no fear from melee, so caster V caster...

More ideas are never a bad thing,Just need to focus onfinding one that most people like.

Exactly. Hexes in PvP that punish attacking or punish spellcaster provide the same type of shutdown that the OP is talking about.
