Snares useful in PvE?
SotiCoto
I'm starting to get to the point in some areas of PvE when I'm feeling I might need some sort of snare.
In Dungeons of GW:EN in particular... I regularly come across enemies who will run around all over the place in the middle of battle or promptly make a beeline out of battle (or worse, into aggro range of another patrol), and I end up wasting my time just charging after them. I only manage to kill them at all in some cases because I always bring Dash and can, for 3 out of every 8 seconds, run faster than they do.
It is starting to get just a wee bit irritating...
But does it justify bringing a Snare into PvE?
Would I be better exchanging in one of the Mantis leads and Wild Strike instead of Golden Phoenix Strike?
Does anyone else have such an issue with kiting monsters?

I think they are very useful, I often saved my monks from sprinting hard mode critters that way. I recall running bull's strike in PvE and actually using it a LOT. I often bring water eles too. When I play assassin myself I don't leave home without siphon speed.

I was doing the quests in SF last night for my Moa Chick for my Ranger. Decided to go cripshot and it worked wonders.
Not only does it stop enemies kiting. It also relieves a whole bunch of pressure off your monks and other team members. So I suppose this could be applied to your Sin? Maybe even bring Grasping Earth for an AoE snare?

So what are you sacrificing for that?
My typical bar, in precise order... is:
Way of Perfection
Dash (ALWAYS takes the second slot for easy W>2 access)
Golden Phoenix Strike
Critical Strike
Moebius Strike
Death Blossom
Critical Agility
Critical Defenses
What do you do differently?
The Moebius + DB combo is still total PvE standard, isn't it?

Ah.... I see.
You don't use Critical Strike.
I suppose it isn't always necessary, but I do rather like having it in some places as a guaranteed way to keep Critical Agility (and Critical Defenses) up... not to mention getting double the Way of Perfection heal.

What about making a hero snare instead?
If I feel like I need one in the map I'll be on, I put Pin Down on Jin. She already has BHA and Epidemic anyhow.

Snares are good in pve. though i wish I could snare my heros sometimes.......Gwen in paticular. They keep bosses from running away into another mob and can stop charr prison guards from running at making me chase after them.

Flags are king, I assume you already put them on guard? But sometimes you just gotta 'regroup'. Heroes love overextending, they just wanna kill whatever you tell them to kill even if it exposes them.

It depends on the enemies... and your teams build

I just wish there was a Water Ele henchie. Most of the time I can't afford to free up a Hero slot for one (Searing Flames Eles and Minion Master take priority, as do Paragons).
I suppose I should have specified though: Is it worth MY bringing a Snare on my Sin?

Sometimes they ignore flags. It isn't my favourite of circumstances and usually leads to absurd Hero deaths.

run mind blast + rodgort then. that allows for 4 entire skill slots of utility like snares.
Skuld
I like Essence of Celerity + Caltrops (with Blinding Powder aswell this is quite potent ^^)
