allow GWEN skill cap from other campaigns
Dobber_S
Hi, having read the sticky post and searching the forum i couldn't find a post about this so here goes.
A little background: i own prophecies, factions and eye of the north. Being a hardcore ele fire nuker, i was bummed because i couldn't cap Searing Flames beause i don't own Nightfall. But hey, i'm not gonna buy the campaign to cap one skill i really want.
Having paid for GWEN, and looking at guildwiki and seeing a boss in GWEN used Searing Flames, i was happy as a child thinking i could cap SF now. WRONG!
After going through alot of trouble defeating the boss, the sig cap gave me an error to the likes of: you can't cap SF because you don't own nightfall. Imagine how pissed off i was.
After asking around people told me you can cap skills in NF introduced in previous campaigns, even if you don't own them. so basicly "if the skill is in NF, you can cap it." (correct me if that's wrong)
so what i'm saying is, allow the same in GWEN. now i know it's not a campaign per se, it's a "expansion". that didn't stop me from paying money for it, and expecting to be able to cap skills.
conclusion on the suggestion: allow skill cap in GWEN from previous campaigns, even if you don't own them.
thoughts? comments? rants or insults? (i hope not)

If you don't own the specific campaign you can't get the skills from there.
Just a way that Anet makes ppl buy the other campaigns... which I support.

I'm sorry but it looks like the only way yo can get it is by buying nf. I don't think there is any real reason to change this.

people seem to want to either pay for stuff that should be rightfully theirs or deliberately lock out people from stuff that should be rightfully theirs because THEY own it.
Anet wants to make money. Lots of loud vociferous people are going to come out now and fail at basic logic. This makes Anet happy.
(good luck...)

it will be cool and right(since 40$ for gwen is too much) but it wont happen

If you don't own the campaign, you shouldn't be able to get the campaign-specific skills.

while i can see why anet wont sign this i fail to realize why player do

You shelled out the money for GWEN but don't want to get NF? Your kidding, right? NF is the better product, so get it, and use GWEN elite capping for skills that are harder to get in their original campaign.
BlackSephir
I bought all campaigns and GWEN and you want to have parts of it just because you bought GWEN?
Right...
Right...

The difference is i think the skill are just a small part of the game, there is nothing wrong other then anet finacial balance to include them in gwen.
that is also a way to make ammend for the lame nighfall skills, witch are more powerfull then other campain one's.

Ugh alright thnx for the link to the other thread Sleeper, seems like i missed that. it wasn't my intention to double post.
having read it i'm just gonna leave it at this because continueing to bicker at eachother won't help anything anyway.
i just want to say this as my last post about this. having paid for GWEN i expected to have access to all it's content(like it's with any other game): storyline, side quests and SKILLS. i did pay for Searing Flames imo, cause a boss in GWEN uses it and i payed to kill that boss. if you don't want to intermix campaigns, i'm totally fine with that, but don't give a boss in GWEN skills from other campaigns then.
people need to stop seeing the 3 campaigns like 3 pieces of 1/3rd of a pie, so having bought the 3 camaigns gives you one pie, i.e. one whole game.
that's wrong, every campaign is a full pie, giving you a 3 layered cake by owning all 3 campaigns as it were. Anet made us think we have to pay 120-150$ to get a full game, well played on their part but i'm just not that stupid.
let me make an analogy for you: see Guild Wars like Half Life. it's the name of a game that has multiple campaigns(for HL that's half life, HL episode 1 and HL episode 2). in both games you have to pay to get access to the different campaigns. say i bought HL and HL episode 2, but not HL episode 1.
The equivalent of what Anet is doing would be something like: i'm playing HL ep 2, and want to solve a puzzle to get an armor upgrade or something.
OH WAIT! that armor upgrade was in HL ep 1 and i don't own that. so i can't get the armor upgrade in HL ep 2 because i don't have HL ep1, even though i paid for HL ep2 to get that upgrade.
try to introduce that in Half Life, and see how their community responds.
anyway, this won't matter anyhow. i need to stop being deluded enough to think that big (gaming) companies care about what people deserve for the money they pay, and face the fact Anet just wants to make as much money as possible like the rest of them. I don't know who the people responding, in this and the other thread, are. if they're all Anet puppets i can understand the reactions, but i expected fellow gamers to see through the stunt they pulled here.
to the mods, this thread can be closed if it's up to me, nothing constructive can come of it anymore, since it's not going to change anyway.
Peace!

It's not something new, good day.
Antheus
Why would you want to use SF anyway?
You could also pvp against people using Searing Flames since Nightfall was released - and you paid for that as well. Why complain now?
Don't own the campaign, don't get the skills.
GW:EN adds new skills - that's what you get. It was never implied anywhere that you will be getting access to other campaigns with it.

Let's take it to PvP packs.
You but Prophecies, Factions and Nightfall...
And imagine they bring them back, along a Gwen PvP pack...
Would you expect to get all skills just by getting Two packs, Gwen plus an other one?
No.
This is the same.
To gain access to skills of one profession, you buy the campaign those skills can be found in.
Go to the Skills and attributes panel or to a Balthazar priest and sort the skills by Campaign.
Is Searing Flames under 'Eye of the North'?
No.
No need to say anything else.
That's how they pay the servers. You want more content, you pay that content.
