Alliance chat moderation

Do you think its possible to implement some type of chat mod system?

My guild, who leads a 10 guild alliance sometimes has to kick whole guilds because their leader wasnt on when one of their members was causing problems in ally chat.

It would be sweet if officers and leader of the leading guild could moderate the chat. That they could mute a member of the alliance for a certain amount of time(like 10-15 mins). This would get their attention and could give enough time for the troublesome member to be dealt with by an officer or leader of that guild.

That's one option, or allow the alliance leader to set chat parameters to filter alliance chat like each individual person can. Such as filter language, excessive symbols, spamming or selling.

Just a thought...

If the player is causing problems, just message him asking him to stop. If he doesn't, then whoever is offended can ignore him or just turn off Alliance chat until you can get hold of their guild leader.

Though I always did prefer it when it was only the officers of the guilds that could use alliance chat.

I agree with this. A couple of idiots were starting trouble in our alliance chat, saying really crude disgusting things when there could have been young children on.

We couldn do anything about it cuz thier guild leader was not on and it was just annoying that even tho we're alliance leaders we cant do anything about it (except remove the entire guild but then thats not fair on the other members)

So...

This seems to be a universal constant: no matter what Alliance you're in, Alliance Chat seems to be a 'tard magnet.

It's often worse than Local in Great Temple, as people just tend to ignore each other there.

This is why my guild sacked the whole Alliance principle altogether.

Er, what happened to the /report function? Surely you can /report tards in alliance just as easily as tards in cities?

It would indeed be a nice feature.
I've had a problem in alliance chat once where one of my officers made a very harsh comment to someone in the alliance.
I was not online at that time, so if he would have continued our guild could have been kicked out of the alliance.
That's because other officers can't demote or kick an officer and I'm not online 24/7.

While talking about this, I as GL (member alliance, not leader) would also like the possibility to mute alliance chat or certain people.
I've seen several times that discussions became ugly and I once considered withdrawing from the alliance to give people a time-out to cool down.

I don't see this happen in GW1, but it's a good surgestion for GW2.

you could Pm the officers and have them get control of the member, I guess the leader alliance would have to know who the officers are.

I just read an article stating that almost all reports for such things will pretty much be ignored lol My faith is already lost in the system cuz ive reported multiple times and nothing has been done about it.

Yeah, you could, if you could see the online rosters of other guilds in your alliance. You can see who's online in your own guild but not others. I'd like that feature implemented first.

I also agree that the Alliance leader should have more powers over members in other guilds. Maybe not powers to kick members, but at least mute powers.

What would really be nice (maybe for GW2) is to make the Alliance chat off limits to all non-officers by default. The leader or officers then have the ability to toggle Alliance chat on or off for each member. Perhaps your Alliance wants to reserve alliance chat for officers only, then you can do that. Other Alliances will continue to allow all members access. This way it's up to the individual guilds how they wish to moderate their private chat channels.

This would be a great idea, but now that we have a report system, just use that. Although I could see this being available to all guild leaders in the alliance, plus the alliance leader who can use it on anyone. I dunno, good idea, but I dunno.

Thanks to those in support or ally char moderation.

To those saying to use the /report command I remind you that they must be in ur district in order to do so. And just having someone turn alliance chat off doesn't solve the problem if the idiot is still on there. I hate having to threaten a whole guild because of one idiot when officers of that guild happen to not be on(which is usually when they are acting like idiots anyways).

Until ANet do something we are stuck having to kick whole guilds until officers return and even after we reinvite the guild they seem to still be pissed that they were kicked in the first place. What a chore...

I liked the idea of choosing who can talk in alliance chat. The leader and/or officers of the guild get to pick who is and who isn't allowed in AC. That way alliances can choose who they want talking. Whether it's leaders, officers and leaders, or everybody, they get to decide. Not the game.

I also like the idea of an alliance roster open to either leaders or officers or everyone.

I don't see why you wouldn't just make a warning that guilds with officers who are breaking alliance chat guidlines get kicked?

Its ussually not the officers causing the problem, regardless everyone already knows what the outcome will be if someone is being a dick, a warning isnt going to solve anything. The problem is we need a way to block all chat output from individuals, even so, WHO would be the person/persons responsible for this function? The obvious answer would be guild leaders or officers, but once again, if they arnt online at the time then its a bust. The simplest solution is to just /ignore the individual, or if more than one just turn off ally chat for a while, as soon as officers/leader of the offending guild are on, let them know who needs kicked out, if not kicked THEN the whole guild would be kicked.
This realy isnt anything new, it happens everywhere. Ever since I started playing online games immature people have been a nuisance, and there is no real lasting fix to this unfortunately.

The ability for members to talk in alliance chat should be a privelage. Only officers used to be able to talk in alliance. It gets annoying when a smart ass finds his way into the alliance and I can't do anything to stop him. Or at least make guild leaders capable of muting someone. That way, there are 10 chances for something to be done rather than 1 chance, and only 1 choice.

That's why you message officers in his guild that can either boot him, or deal with him.

I disagree. Players in spots of power has and will never end up good in this game, or any other game.

Alliance chat was the reason over half of the alliances that guilds I was in failed... people in alliance chat just couldn't be mature and if you asked them to stop just did it worse...
