No Halloween in Cantha?!

There was a big uproar about this last year... Figured this thread would come up again.
Anyway, the Canthan area is based on Asia. They do not have halloween there. That is the biggest reason you'll find that Factions does not have the Halloween setup.

What about Halloween/Christmas/Santa/etc. in Africa? You can say Halloween isn't in Asia, but throughout Asia there are similar celebrations.

There is no Halloween in Chinese tradition, but there is a similar Chinese holiday called Ghost Festival. The Ghost Festival is a traditional Chinese festival and holiday, which is celebrated by Chinese people in many countries. In the Chinese calendar (a lunisolar calendar), the Ghost Festival is on the 14th night of the seventh lunar month, which is called Ghost Day. In Chinese tradition, the ghosts and spirits, including those of the deceased ancestors, come out from the lower world. Hong Kong, a former British colony, does celebrate Halloween every year unlike the Mainland. |

The fact they didn't extend it to Cantha follows no reasonable excuse than just they want it that way.

it makes sense to me and all the other posters here that say know that Tyria was based on middle age European areas and that Elona has a strong African/Morrocan feel (both of which have halloween due to british colonization/religious ties)

So it makes a heck of a lot more sense to leave it as it is.
IE 2 festivals per game, in fact since Factions had the Tengu festival they are one up on the other games anyway.

It's in Lion's Arch because that's where it originated and I'm almost certain it came to Kamadan one year later because Nightfall came out very close to Halloween. Maybe Factions didn't get it because it was launch weekend of Nightfall, and they wanted to focus their attention on that. Hell, I don't know. I don't even know if it would look right in that setting...
well i understand why someone would not have it there, however i do think its slightly unfair to a chapter when it mises out on something the others get. However I do believe Canthan only owners do have the luxury of gettign the Dragon festivel where everyone else doesn't so it is somewhat evened out. Poor old elonan's don't get any festivel all their own and neither does prophicies
