Leeching?

Ok, seriously is this reportable if not will that be fixed. Was in the costume brawl as I have been nonstop recently. This match started like any other, like a few I saw we had some slow loaders, but this one guy must of been the grandfather of lag. A little after 4 minutes 30 seconds a R/N loaded, after which at 4 minutes 57 seconds we finished and WON the match.

Thinking it was pure bad luck it took him nearly as long to load the next match too! To an extent I think this was leeching, simply having to do almost nothing for something other people are hustling to make up work for you. Which reminded me of all the times I've heard...inconsiderate...people who when they cannot do anything due to lag, or due to THEIR VERY OWN DOWNLOAD they AB/RA/anything they know they shouldn't be doing but can still get done with other people picking up their slack. Some people simply don't care as long as they get their way or to do something. I'm not saying require a fast connection, simply filtering out, or PAIRING those who take relatively long to load to even the playing field might actually help them too. In PvE I do not mind but come PvP time when it comes down to the final push needed being a person short can and has ruined teams.

Or does no one see any fault in this at all?

If someone doesn't load, I usually get irritated but never consider it to be leeching since the player's connection is too slow or messed up. With all of the activity going on in the GW servers during Halloween, people who play on lower end PC's or bad connections will receive the shortest straw, so I for one, don't blame them.

So don't get too upset. Stuff like this happens during festivals.

And no, there shouldn't be some kind of filter system...everyone deserves an equal chance of playing with other players, PvE or PvP. Not every player has the luxury of a cable modem, and I hardly see the occasional player running something close to 56k as punishment to those that do.

Like society outside Guild Wars, we all need to deal with another's shortcomings or achievements in one way or the other.

So you don't think lagers should be even grouped with other lagers to even the playing field?

What irritates me the most is when it's peoples own downloads slowing them down, giving them a free ride of wins when all they have to do is hit C Space over and over and never make it in time. I really don't think PvP should be something done put aside for when you are lagging. Taking 4.5minutes/10 of a timed match to load, a good bit of the matches didn't even last 4 minutes, with one person missing of course it took longer, seems like a bit of luck too, it still doesn't seem fair. He seriously just left the spawn point...wow...thats worthy right there.

Ah comon i was once one of the slow loaders since i had a bad computer, its not anyones fault. Just enjoy the game, im sure they would rather play and have fun rather then sit down and watch a green screen for 5 minutes lol. And it would suck if i just got there and you won/lost

I do not consider this leeching because it is not volontary. Until he stays in 1 spot and does nothing, I will not report him because I'm pretty sure he would also like to join in faster and play.

But unfortunatly not every one can have a 1337 connection.

Notice I said several people had loaded slow before, but THAT slow was just unexplainable. That and those who purposely sabotage teams knowing their lagging or downloading is what I am getting at.

Absolutely not. They apparently have a fast enough connection to log into Guild Wars and download the content. Even if it's the bare minimum, the game designers allowed that speed to play the game. In the end it all evens out. I'm sure you've gone against a team that had a slow loader, right?

It's all part of the online experience. Anyway, that's my final thought on the matter.

Rushed and trampled MANY MANY MANY teams to death before half of them loaded, yes. That seems fair to you? Must admit that I did not mind =)

Nah people I know do it, I've done it before to finish titles too.

I highly doubt it comon enough to be a serious problem, maybe in costum brawl since its new, but any were else....I doubt its a wide spread problem

Btw NO it doesn`t bother me, poor kid can`t help it and if he could he probably would so get off his case. Like it ain`t bad enough he got a bad connection he has a bloody whiner on his case.
I remember having a crappy connection and I`m so thankfull those days are long gone.

If I log on today and go play the silly little holiday games where nothing much is at stake maybe when my computer loads real real slow I can ruin someone's day and give them something to whine about...

Ok, my day now has purpose...

Honest response - this wouldn't be a problem if it weren't for the dishonor system. Everyone on the short-handed team would ragequit and start a new match, the players on the advantaged team are happy because they get their rewards faster, and the slow-loader gets his download and gets kicked back to district when it finishes.

Upshot: previously, only the slow-loader got the full punishment (waste of 5 minutes of time due to download speed). Now 5 people get full punishment.

Interesting how well-intentioned updates can have negative and unintentional consequences. Feel free to flame away, but it's the truth

Labelling everyone that lags as a "leecher" is ignorant, negative and downright absurd! Grow up. GWars is rotting because of Emo's like you (who whined and made the GW community suffer harsh updates, nerfs and useless changes).

What do you care if I use the word "emo"? You act as if that word applies to you... hrm... maybe it does in this case.
