Mimicry, Arcane Echo, Echo, Storm, Echo, Storm, Echo, Storm, Storm, Get Morale Boost, Storm, Storm, Storm.... Yup. It's amazing how fast he goes down with this. I usually go Earth magic aswell and bring Ward Against Foes/Melee just to help keep him in place and protect the group a bit. Best thing to do is to keep the group fairly close together so if he switches targets he doesn't run out of the AoE. He'll go down so fast it's rediculous. Going Air magic and hitting him with Blinding Flash as often as possible also helps avoid damage. Just make sure nobody brings any massively powerful armour ignoring spells like Odsidian Flame or he'll nuke you into oblivion when he starts double striking with Battle Scars on.
EDIT: One thing i've just remembered. It's true that SV, SS, Empathy, IP, etc... will kill him very fast but there is one major drawback to that method. Meditation of the Reaper. You need a reliable way to bring him out of it otherwise you're toast. With SV, SS, etc.. he is required to act in order to receive the damage. When he's in Meditation he won't take any damage because he's not attacking anyone so you'll need some way of hurting him fast in a more conventional manner. Just thought i'd add that.

Lololol roll 6 warriors and HERO monks (they don't get banished), storm-of-swords and w-blow the living crap out of him, 1 dead shiro ^^.

2-4 eles with echo chains (echo, arcane echo), use the echoes to chain celestial storm. That drops him rly quick. Necro with [skill]spoil victor[/skill], really helps to bring shiro down fast. Wild blow on a dervish or warrior, even assassin helps.
You can also get few warriors and a few assassins to run in and chain their celestial skills, that drops him in like 5-10 seconds. (make sure every one mobs him)

Ice ele to slow him down should give you some more breathing space i think

Go by yourself with henchies. Take all the warrior and ele ones and a monk.
It is all about when he goes in to the meditation skill. If he does it before your henchies use a celestial skill, you win. If he does it after, you loose. I find with my assassin you basicaly get a masters 50% of the time and die in about 11 seconds the rest of the time.

Actualy assassins are pretty good... had 2 human assassins on our team with 2 celestial assassins and whipped shiro in a minute.

This is all you need:
Zenmai (or if youre the sin)
- Any lead
- Wild Strike (offhand)
- Critical Strike or Death Blossom (zealous daggers for DB) (dual)
- Moebius Strike (offhand)
- Wild Blow
- Flail
- Critical Defenses
- Anything for 8th
Wild strike and and Blow is perfect for Hardmode, Also if you dont want to wreck the dualattack-moebius chain, use wild blow. Just beat on shiro until he is below 50%, then spam your Dual attack and Moebius over and over, make sure to keep shiro on you (or zenmai), with crit defenses and flail up at all times.
Master Of Whispers - Or Olias
- Spoil Victor
- Insidious Parasite
- Signet of Lost Souls
Just make sure the hexes are up all the time, your hero will use signet when it can when hes below 50%.
Then depending on your class. Play as much damage as you can as possible.
Bring 1 monk hero with healing/prot points.
and bring non ele, necro and mesmer henchmen.
i got 2:16 in hardmode, that was masters.

I did it in normal mode with monk hero and as wiki says: Take the rest as Henchmen (2 warriors, 2 mesmers, 2 necros). Me as ele with Savannah heat, celestial skill (meditation ends in a sec) and Pain inverter .
In HM I took same skills, but since I didn't succeeded in couple of tries with the same team - I took 1 necro hero instead of hench with Spoil victor and Insidious Parasite. Time 2:04 even faster than I did it in NM.
Gates of Madness Shiro is much easier to beat with H/H than with PUG - Tried both ways - took me 1 try with H/H and had no luck with PUG (5-6 tries).

I don't know what profession you are but I use a sin and can solo him in 6 min, or use 2 necro heroes to kill him in less then 2:30 time. My build has hish dmg/fast recharge attacks, wild strike included, with critical agility and critical defenses, only 3 skills really matter, wild strike, critical defenses, and critical agility. rest of the skills you just got to make sure that you have no conditions and some healing. My necros run SS and SV, with only 5 skills total, one of which is rez sig in case something goes wrong. Reason why they need 5 skills only, or 4 since rez sig isnt a spell, is so that they dont use up all their eng so fast. The only problem with shiro in factions is his medition, which is why you need a sin/war in the party. If your not a melee, i suggest bring a war hero with wild blow and 2 necros, unless ur a necro urself.
For the nightfall shiro, a SV necro *set up with the solo farming build or something like that* can easily solo shiro, since he doesnt have meditation.

the wiki is right, SS and SV can drop shiro easy, there may be something wrong with your approach...and just in case you didn't know...It's spoil victor and spiteful spirit X.x

i gank killed him hm with 8 warriors with there celestial skill. sins work well for this to. this can take anywhere from 30 sec -3 min depending on luck of what skills he uses. and the crits ure team gets off (i think lol)

Here's a build I used to great effect:
[skill]reckless haste[/skill][skill]price of failure[/skill][skill]insidious parasite[/skill][skill]spoil victor[/skill]
Include the celestial skill and your choice of rez, and you've got a pretty good build. I also included [skill]parasitic bond[/skill] as a cheap cover-hex. I also took [skill]hexer's vigor[/skill] as a way to keep my health up. It worked out pretty well, though.
If you want to get more elaborate, swap [skill]spirit of failure[/skill] for parasitic bond.

so yeah, i used arcane echo + celestial storm multiple times, did they nerf it? arcane echo won't copy celestial storm, and i've tried it 6-8 times. any suggestions, or did i miss a nerf?

You can't copy Celestial Storm with arcane echo because CS isn't a spell. It's never worked like that. You need the mesmer elite [skill]echo[/skill] to copy CS, but you can use arcane echo to copy echo.
The skill chain is arcane echo --> echo --> CS --> copied echo --> copied CS --> 2nd copied CS. This gives 3 castings of CS. You can also use [skill]arcane mimicry[/skill] to copy the elite echo from another character in your group giving you a 4th CS if use it right.
Bottom line, you can't copy CS with arcane echo but you can copy it with the mesmer elite echo since it copies all skills and not just spells.

What I do is have a N/Me with curses and hexes that trigger when skills are used or attacks are made. Then, I have a few more N/whatever and any other professions besides monks fill up the rest of the spots. Then, dps shiro down as normal, keeping them curses and hexes up. Then when He gets close to using Impossible Odds, all of the N use there Celestial Golems. Provided the curses and hexes are still up, shiro will kill himself in a few seconds.

Celestial Skills just destroy him...
But if he hits meditation of the reaper, you better get that 500 dmg quick :P
It's a real hard hitter, that skill.

wow people still fail at this mission? This can only mean one thing... time to get my fraps and show you kids how its done.
I ran this mission for money when nightfall first came out. As always i made shit load of money ^_^ around 700k-ish. I can proudly say I was the first (at least in the American servers that I know of at the time). Since then I have taught close friends how to do the run to make money but they all seem to epic fail at it.
Ok this can be done with any block/blind way. I have sucessfully done this on my ranger and warrior ( i just never got around to doing it on my ele/monk/rit).
Ok before I start of I would like to state this DOES require HEROES. This DOES require an entire team of 8 players/hero/hench. The heroes can have NO addons to them. I haven't even given mine runes or good weps. x_X
Heros:
Master of Whispers/Livia/Olias
[skill]Spoil Victor[/skill][skill]Enfeeble[/skill][skill]Reckless Haste[/skill][skill]Price of Failure[/skill][skill]Weaken Armor[/skill][skill]Spirit of Failure[/skill][skill]Blood Ritual[/skill][skill]Well of Blood[/skill]
3x Monk Heroes (dammit no damn healing breeze ^_^) ... since I've run this gwen has come out and builds have changed. Please equip your monks accordingly. Just bring condition and hex removal here.
You may notice I wrote 3x Monk Heroes. That is because you WILL need three. If you are on your own you can use 2 heroes and a henchman.
Monk builds (these are guides you don't have to use them):
Monk1:
[skill]Light of Deliverance[/skill][skill]Ethereal Light[/skill][skill]Dwayna's Kiss[/skill][skill]Cure Hex[/skill][skill]Drain Enchantment[/skill][skill]Power Drain[/skill][skill]Guardian[/skill][skill]Mend Condition[/skill]
[skill]Word of Healing[/skill][skill]Signet of Rejuvenation[/skill][skill]Healing Seed[/skill][skill]Cure Hex[/skill][skill]Ethereal Light[/skill][skill]Dismiss Condition[/skill][skill]Guardian[/skill][skill]Power Drain[/skill]
Ok so you closed all the gates and now you are standing in front of shiro and lich. What do you do?
Ok I have two builds for this. Basically YOU will be tanking shiro. Don't worry alls good ^_^. You will use wild blow to remove battle scars when it comes up. Gladiators defense will do massive damage as he double strikes very often.
For the Ranger you only need 3 skills, the rest you can take what ever you feel like.
[skill]oath shot[/skill][skill]whirling defense[/skill][skill]wild blow[/skill]
I mainly did the runs on my warrior
[skill]Gladiator's Defense[/skill][skill]penetrating chop[/skill][skill]penetrating blow[/skill][skill]wild blow[/skill][skill]bonetti's defense[/skill][skill]shield stance[/skill][skill]endure pain[/skill][skill]rebirth[/skill]
Some tricks to mission (now these tricks worked fall of 2006, and should still work, though i have not tested).
Since I am at work I'll be using stupid paint to draw your route. T_T
here is the map for some reason the image tag is not working
http://www.upload3r.com/serve/200208/1203531585.png
at point 1 you will flag your heros back and run up past the claw in the ground go near the gate to trigger shiro/lich speech. At which point immediatly turn around glads/endure pain and run to your healers. If the ghosts chase you then just kill them when you go far back to you npc. The cutscene triggers a gate to open. A few shiroken will come out and make a turn and go down the path which you came from to trigger the scene.
At this point a gate should open up in front of you allowing you to skip the shiroken entirely.
Once you reach shiro/lich. You should pull shiro have him sit on you while your entire team does not touch him and just kills lich. Once you have done so you should run out and give monks time to recharge and take a breather as you are going to tank shiro. Try to pull him close to the gate as you can so you can make a easy get away if anything goes wrong. You can take rez on your heros I just don't bring it on mine.
As shiro is on you make sure necro hero is casting right hexes, make sure monk is using healing seed on you when needed. Most of all MAKE SURE YOU WILD BLOW BATTLE SCARS.
everything should go smoothly. I have do the mission this way many times. I lost count after the 70th time.

Oh hai,
You posted an Elonian guide in the Canthan forum. May I give you directions to your destination?
On Topic: This does look like it would work in Cantha, although you need to keep doing damage to cancel Meditation of the Reaper, or interrupt it somehow.

Of course the N/Mo is sort of useless in this situation so you could change for a Ele with Chaos Storm - echo but really isn't needed. I keep him for the Protective Spirit and Guardian he spams on the whole party.
You will also need to take Pain Inverter for this.
When You attack Shiro just just keep piling Spoil Victor, Spiteful Spirit, Empathy, Insidious Parasite and Pain Inverter on him. He should be taking 250 - 300 damage each time he attacks , when Impossible Odds kicks in and he speeds up and double strikes, Shiro takes 1000+ damage a second and blows up in a pile of goo.
