I find minipets to be fairly profitable - I have done the following:
Bought mini lich, 45k, sold 100k
Bought mini bone dragon 35k, sold 95k
Bought mini grawl 100k, traded for mini water djinn
Sold mini water djinn 100k + 3ectos
Then spent the lot on pumpkin pies
Just my example of starting off with little money and ending up with quite a few k.
