Problem whispering

I did a search on this and only two threads came up, both from 2005.

Just recently I have had a problem whispering players that I know are online. They can whisper me, but I can't reply. It says "so and so is not online". I know for a fact they were. They all showed in my friends list, and were whispering me wondering why I did not reply. Even after reconnecting it didn't work. One instance was to pay for an auction item and it just looked bad on me. Any ideas?

i think it has something to do with that they put thier statis as ofline....but dont qoute me because im not to sure

I had this problem too, some guildies wispered me and then i tried to wisper back and their status was offline.

So i guess there is or a problem with their client or its a problem with the friendslist?

Yes, you can't whisper them back if they set their status to "offline". However, they wouldn't still appear "online" in your friend's list if they did this.

OP said they showed up as "online" in the friends list, therefore should have been able to whisper them. The friends list occasionally gets out of synch (sometimes so badly it asks you to re-logon to the names server) - but OP tried restarting, which would normally fix that.

So its a strange problem...
