Hmmm...explaining UV Unwrap is a bit difficult to just type imho, not to mention I'm not much good at it. :[ But I'd be damned if there wasn't a good tutorial about it somewhere. Anyway, you add the Unwrap modifier to your editable poly(I'm guessing) and in polygon mode of your editable poly only choose one bit of polygons at a time and unwarp it. Like, first only select the face polys and unwrap them, then select another part like the skirt polys and add them to the unwrappiness. Adding somekinda "fake" texture helps spot where everything is etc. :d
But ya just unwrap one part at a time and you can arrange them in the unwrap window, save the file and open it in photoshop and paint textures on them. I think google will be your friend here. X)
