Can't say I remember any special tips. I went with myself as a dragonslash, olias is MM, sousuke and zhed as SF, two hench monks, devona and talon. I had the titan quest active as well. Just lure the groups out. That is go into the burning forest, and lure all the patrols around the edges away and kill them one at a time. SF isn't really scary unless you have a few attacking you. You should eventually only have the charr groups and a titan (if you have that quest). Pretty easy after that. Maybe you can get a siege devourer? I can't remember, but if you have to travel there you should be able to take a devourer with you I think.

My w/e took a siege devourer and took out the Fire charr really quick. Then i took out the Titan as I had that quest active. Siege didnt survive the ele djinns but the Titan was quit easy. One Tip-- dont go through the burning forest. From Grothmar Downs,go south through charr and grawl. Fire Charr are near a rez shrine for Fire and Pain. The Titan is not to far from there also.

I dont know why many people refrain from using Frigid Armor. I often use it on my warrior.

or a simple ward against harm should cut down teh damage a lot and maybe mantra of flame as damage redux and energy gain. its all about h/h management.
Tip: if you are all bunched up, ull get pwnd by SF so try to flag h/h away from each other

You didn't say whether you are going to PUG or not. When I did it with my Ranger, I was using heroes & henchies. My group consisted of me, Jin, Margrid, Livia (MM), 2 henchie monks, the henchie interrupt ranger and I'm not sure which other henchie - either the Guardian Warrior, the Mesmer or the other ranger.
I was using a type of B/P build.
Jin and Margrid had basically the same build:
[skill]Favorable Winds[/skill][skill]Apply Poison[/skill][skill]Broad Head Arrow[/skill][skill]Distracting Shot[/skill][skill]Healing Breeze[/skill][skill]Comfort Animal[/skill][skill]Rebirth[/skill][skill]Charm Animal[/skill]
except one had [wiki]Barbed Arrows[/wiki] instead of Apply Poison, and one had FW turned off so I could use it manually when needed.
The henchie interrupt ranger also use BHA.

why healing breeze over [skill]troll unguent[/skill]? Less energy, can take points out of healing breeze since you have apply poison anyways which is wilderness survival also.

The henchie interrupt ranger also use BHA. Why do ppl insist on bringing Healing Breeze? Hell in your case, being a Ranger, couldn't you have at bare minimum came up with troll?
Personally I would throw on a second interrupt, Savage Shot.
As to the OP's initial question:
1) Mantra of the Flame.
2) Ward agains Harm/Elements.
3) spread out hero's/hench.
4) when pulling attempt to get the enemies to cast SH at you before you get back to your heros/hench.
5) Interrupts.

I think Rangers are very used to interrupting Troll, so they are similarly wary of the casting time.
