Showing Your Weapons In Towns!

I think GW should allow you to wield your weapons & offhand in towns. I don't really see a reason why they're not shown in towns

If they WERE shown, it would be a lot better as situations could occur where 2 people run past each other & possibly comment on the other person's weapon or make them an offer for it etc.

Most of all, I just think it would look cool

So people would spend loads on cheap crystlines just to look further 'cool' as with the mini pet crap.

Sorry not signed, would look stupid everyone running around fully armed in a town anyway. Now if they had a happy hour where it goes free for all in a town then that sounds better.

If weapons and shields etc were sheathed/attached to the hip/strapped across the back it would look ok, certainly more 'realistic' than having them disappear magically the way they do.

I guess that might require a 'non combat' mode activated only in towns. But if they did do that (which I highly doubt they will) they'd have no real excuse not to give rangers a quiver for their arrows.

I know someone will bring up the 'cape' issue, but lets face it, other games have managed it so why not? My paladin in WoW has her shield over her cape, sure it sits a little bit off it in 'hover mode' but then so do a lot of the shields in GW to the hands that are supposed to be holding them.

All the above is pretty much not going to happen anyway, the weapons in towns idea has been raised a few times I think.

Aren't there always? It's only a suggestion forum, so why not make suggestions. Plus "/notsigned" I get, but why "/unsigned" how can you unsign something you haven't already signed?

[edit] Although the fps issue is a solid argument against it (below).

Would drastically lower fps on everyone in a crowded outpost.

It's just that I used to play Runescape & it was good seeing everyone else's weapons, shields etc when you were in a town. I mean, what's the point of spending 100k+ on a really good looking sword if only you can see it? You may aswell spend 5k on a sword with the same stats but looks worse.

The only real reason I can see people wanting to do it. Agree with Devany's Happy Hour though ;p

People spend lot's of money in RS because the higher costing weapons generally have better stats, there was a post in another thread about someone complaining about not being able to make money while saving for a perfect Fellblade. Someone replied to it with this -> Collector 15^50 sword -5k Vamp hilt - 3k Defence pommel -2k, just as good if not better than a fellblade and for a fraction of the cost. These threads allways end in a flame war about rich people's e-peen. Just wait it out till GW2, there will probably be something along the lines of these with the proposed way of partying.

No good reason for this can be made

If there was a way to show someone in a window like the Dye Preview window for the purposes of trade or something, that might work, but in general, not a good idea.

I think there is a lagging issues or performance issue why they dont let you show weapons in outposts. The same reason you can only have a limited number of pets on show at one time in an outpost.

It does make sense...

1) It probably cuts down on how much information the server needs to send back and forth.
2) If a player has a low-end machine, the last thing they want is it having to render extra weapon skins for each player intown. Its kind of a fail-safe to ensure all players can run GWs effectively enough to be fun.

I cant say im too bothered about showing weapons, it would just end up a competition to see who has the bigger sword or nicer staff.

It would also impact trade, because people would go from trading with descriptions to trading with "Come see the weapon I want to sell". The game would become more about looks then stats.

People are too vain ingame as it is!

That argument doesn't hold...

- Elitism exists with or without this.

- This feature is present in other games where elitism is just as bad... GW's no different.

- If someone's gloating, ignore them... if you can't handle it, tell them off, not like there's no flaming/arguing in local chat already.

I'm not one to be bothered by elitism... so whether this feature gets implemented or not doesn't bother me.

Concerning lag.... if the rig is unable to display the game (as it is now) in full specs, then this shouldn't concern them as they should have their settings turned down low as heck already. I'm also pretty sure they'll enable a "tick" thing just like how capes/headgear works...

Yes NPCs have their weapons out in town but that's different. They're set like that meaning it's already written in, whereas each individual player (of different sizes) would have their own set of weaponry (and they can switch it around) and the colour it's dyed in would have to be registered by server... so more server stress.... just like whoever mentioned the mini-pet limit thing.

I would actually like that...well I wouldn't like how people will start advertising so vaguely but I hate when someone from a different district asks me if they can see the weapon... then expect ME to go hunt them down, then have to party up and head outside, which usually takes a while because that person usually has a party of heroes and well... we're in KAMADAN 4/4 FTW.

Oh and we actually already have people who already advertise that vaguely, "WTS WEAPONS, PM ME".

NPCs who have their weapons in town are guards or thing in that fashion. You're not here to protect people so it would mean you're in town to kill them...

And the guild flooding is enough, we don't need everyone spawning they have a roXxXor destroyer sword of leetness.

I have a morbid curiosity about how many suckers would be showing their all-black Obsidian armor and Tormented Shields.

However, I don't run the best computer, and I'd hate to load all that stuff. I've been wanting for a very long time to have the "low quality" setting use less and less detail, but Eye of the North is nearly unplayable on this machine. I'm sorry, but I gotta vote against anything that would worsen the problem for me.

My computer isn't old, but it's not exactly the best system ever. Things slow down some in crowded districts already, and I can imagine what it's like for people whose computers are worse.

So no, /notsigned. I don't look much at other people's armor or minis as it is, and I really don't care about the e-peen strokings you get from having rare greens and obsidian junk.
